JOY for Global Design Project 318

This week’s Global Design Project is a sketch challenge, giving me the opportunity to continue making Christmas cards, using beautiful designer papers.

Check out the sketch below, see how our designers used the sketch, then hang your creation in our gallery.

By Su Mohr for GDP318; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for instructions! Featuring: Painted Christmas Designer Paper, Heartwarming Hugs Designer Paper, Scalloped Contours Dies, Playful Alphabet Dies, Merry Melody EmbossingFolder, Playful Pets Trim; #paintedchristmas #heartwarminghugs #scallopedcontours #playfulalphabet #alphabetdies #merrymelody #musiconcards #christmascards #joytotheworld #christmascarols #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #stamping #stampinup #gdp318

JOY

I began with a Soft Sea Foam card base, 8 1/2″ X 51/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, embossing the card front with the Merry Melody Embossing Folder.

Next, I used a Scalloped Contours Die, 4 1/2″ X 3″, to cut two pieces of designer paper. The top pattern is Painted Christmas, and the bottom is Heartwarming Hugs. I glued these on an angle to match the sketch.

It was exciting to learn that the musical notes on the Merry Melody Embossing Folder were “Joy to the World,” one of my favorite Christmas carols. So, the word “JOY” would make the perfect sentiment. Right?

I used the smallest Scalloped Contours die to cut Soft Sea Foam Cardstock, where I would place my word “JOY.”

The letters were created with Playful Alphabet Dies, Foam Adhesive Sheets, and Heartwarming Hugs Designer Paper.  I cut a 2″ X 1″ piece of Foam Adhesive Sheet, removed the covering on one side, and stuck 2″ X 1″ designer paper to it. Then, I placed the letters on top of the designer paper, and ran it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with a normal “sandwich.” I ran it through a second time, upside down, to insure it was a good cut. After carefully removing the letters from the dies, I peeled the backside, and stuck them to the scalloped label.

Finally, I attached the label with Dimensionals, and added a pretty bow with a Glue Dot. The ribbon is part of the Playful Pets Trim Combo Pack.

Stamping Sunday Blog Hop Small Gifts and Tags

Welcome to Stamping Sunday. Today we are excited to share our projects with the theme, “small gifts and tags” You’ll find the designer’s name list below, making it easy to hop from blog to blog. Who is ready for some “gift giving” inspiration?

The Delivery Cheer Stamp Set seemed perfect for today’s project.

By Su Mohr for Stamping Sunday; Click aromasandart.com to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Delivering Cheer Stamp Set, Heartwarming Hugs Designer Paper, Mini Paper Pumpkin Boxes, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon; #deliveringcheer #heartwarminghugs #minipaperpumpkinboxes, Christmascards #christmasgifts #christmaspackaging #handmadecards Handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #stamping #stampinup #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop

Delivering Cheer

Some of the best gifts come in small boxes, and Stampin’ Up! has the perfect, Mini Paper Pumpkin Box. They come flat, 10 in a pack, and fold together easily. They are shiny white, heavy cardboard, food safe, and measure 5 3/4″ X 3 3/4″ X 1″.  What more could you want in a small gift box?

I really like the idea of a reusable gift box, so rather than wrapping the box with paper, I glued paper to the top and four sides. Heartwarming Hugs Designer Paper was cut to fit the top and four sides, a spec smaller than the above dimensions, so there wouldn’t be “hangover.”

To make the tag, I stamped the darling girl, from the Delivering Cheer Stamp Set, in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock. Then, I colored her with Stampin’ Blends in four colors: Real Red, Gray Granite, Old Olive, and Crumb Cake.

If you look at the stamp set in my Product List, you’ll notice she comes in two parts. The stamps are photopolymer, so you can see through them for placement. Yes, there’s a stamp for her leggings, which I stamped in Real Red. So Cute!

After coloring, I used the largest Tailor Made Tags Die for cutting. A second tag was cut for three reasons: it reinforced the tag, it covered the “bleed through” from the Stampin’ Blends, and gave me a nice place to stamp “to” and “from.” If you look at the stamp set in my Product List, you’ll see the words are there.

I wrapped the box in Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon, and tied on the tag with Mossy Meadow Braided Linen Trim.

For an additional card, I stamped, and colored the girl, the same as above, and used the third largest Stitched Rectangles Die for cutting. This was layered on Heartwarming Hugs Designer Paper, cut with the largest Scalloped Contours Die. The card base is Thick Basic White Cardstock, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

The envelope flap is decorated with another pattern of Heartwarming Hugs Designer Paper. I cut the paper 5 3/4″ X 2 1/2″, glued it to the flap, and used my Paper Snips to trim the excess. The trimming is easy, by using the flap as a template.

#onstageathome and CentreStage Gift

I’m so excited as I write this, because OnStage @ Home began yesterday, November 11, 4:30 PM Pacific Time.  The fun will continue all day Friday and Saturday.

In lieu of the “in person” dinner, for Silver Elites and above, we were sent a very nice CentreStage gift. I want to thank you, my team members, my customers, and my followers, for helping me achieve Silver Elite. I couldn’t have done it without you.

Here is the gift;  a beautiful storage set, which included some packaging paper that was so pretty, I HAD to use if for today’s card.

First, I cut the pastel, floral, paper with the largest Ornate Layers Die. Then, I glued this layer to a Soft Succulent card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Bt Su Mohr for OnStage@home; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Blessings of Home Stamp Set, Flowers of Home Dies, Ornate Layers Dies, Ombre Gift Bags, Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder; #onstageathome #centrestage # #blassingsofhome #flowersofhome #ombregiftbags #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #stampinup #stamping

CentreStage

I found the soft colors to match the floral paper in the Ombre Gift Bags, and used a second, Ornate Layers Die to cut the center piece from a Soft Succulent bag. I layered this on cardstock for thickness, used the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder for texture, and attached it with Dimensionals.

The background of the  floral paper is close in color to our Shimmery White Cardstock, so I used that for the sentiment.  “Have a perfect birthday” is from the Blessings of Home Stamp Set, stamped in Soft Succulent Ink, cut with a third, Ornate Layers Die, and attached with Dimensionals.

Finally, the sweet, little, flowers were cut with a Flowers of Home Die from an Ombre Gift Bag in Fresh Freesia. I glued them in place, and added tiny pearls to complete the card.

This is just a sneak peek of the new, Blessings of Home Bundle we’ll be playing with at On Stage. I’m sure you’ll be seeing lots of samples to get you excited for ordering in January . It’s always fun looking forward to new products!!!

I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.

Eden’s Garden for the Pals Holiday Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month, the theme is “Home for the Holidays”. We really hope that you enjoy and are inspired by them! As you hop from blog to blog, don’t forget to leave comments because we love hearing from you. You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

The “early-release” stamp set, Eden’s Garden, has such beautiful stamps, I challenged myself to create a single layer, Christmas card. I love how it turned out…on the third try. I’ll tell you the mishaps I encountered, so you can avoid them.

I began with a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. After cutting the card base, I rolled it through the Stamp n’ Cut & Emboss machine with the long, Eden’s Die, to give the card front a wonderful edge.

The stamps and dies come together in a Bundle, for a 10% savings, which you can see in my Product List below.

By Su Mohr for the Pals Holiday Blog Hop; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Eden's Garden Stamp Set, Eden's Dies, Heartfelt Wishes Stamp Set, Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set; #edensgarden #edensdies #masking #howtomask #cardtechniques #heartfeltwishes #poinsettiapetals #christmascards #holidaycards #singlelayercards #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #stamping #stampinup #bloghops

Single Layer Card

Next, I masked the middle of the card front with 1″ painter’s tape. Then, I used the largest Eden’s Garden stamp to stamp three images in Garden Green Ink. I also stamped berries from the Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set; the stems in Early Espresso Ink, and the berries in Real Red Ink. Christmas colors, right? Everything was fine, so far, until I removed the painter’s tape.

Mishap #1: the ink wasn’t dry on the tape, which transferred to my fingers, which transferred to the card front.

Mishap #2: the painter’s tape was very sticky, and removed paper from the card front.

Remedies: Be extra careful when removing the tape, and make it less sticky by adhering it to a towel several times before using. Lessons learned!

Now, all I needed to do was stamp the sentiment.

“Merry Christmas” is from the Heartfelt Wishes Stamp Set, stamped in Real Red Ink. I used my Stamparatus to help insure the image was stamped properly. If you don’t know what a Stamparatus is, click on the picture in my Product List.

Don’t you love this beautiful font? I wish my handwriting was like that!

Since I had the mishaps out of the way, I created a second card, using a Real Red card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. The Basic White Cardstock is 5 1/2″ X 3″, and the Garden Green Cardstock is 5 1/2″ X 3 3/4″.

The added color is nice, but I really prefer the single layer version. What do you think?

I love milkshakes almost as much as making cards. Thank you for hopping by, and sharing a moment with me.

More inspiration awaits, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team. The Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Then, please mark your calendars for our next blog hop on [second Wednesday]. Our theme will be “My Favorite Things” with our design team showcasing some of their favorite products from any catalog they choose.

Until then, have fun in your craft space.

Behind the wreath is a layer of woodgrain paper, 5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″, also a pattern of Heart & Home Designer Paper. It is glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Thanksgiving was cut from Pansy Petals Designer Paper, in gingham, layered on Thick Basic White Cardstock, and glued in place.

For a bit of shine, I added a bow of gold, Simply Elegant Trim, and dotted the two”i”s in Thanksgiving with gold, Metallic Pearls.

Whimsical Trees for Global Design Project 317

When I saw that this week’s Global Design Project was a color challenge, using Blushing Bride, Misty Moonlight, and Mint Macaron, I thought of our Whimsical Trees Bundle. For those of you familiar with the Whimsy & Wonder Designer Paper, you know that these are its colors. What a fun color combination for Christmas cards!

By Su Mohr for GDP 317; Click aromasandart.com to go to my web site for instructions! Featuring: Whimsical Trees Bundle, Watercolor Shapes Stamp Set, Stitched So Sweetly Dies, Rhinestone Jewels; #whimsicaltrees #christmastrees #christmascards #holidaycards #colorcombos #colorchallenge #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #stamping #stampinup

Trio of trees

I began by stamping a Blushing Bride rectangle in the center of Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″. This was done with a Watercolor Shapes Stamp, “stamping off” the Blushing Bride Ink to make it a lighter shade. “Stamping off” means that I inked the stamp, then stamped on scratch paper before stamping on my project.

Next, I masked the pink rectangle with a sticky note, and added a splattering of Misty Moonlight dots. I did this by flicking the brush end of the Stampin’ Blend against the lid. My laundry room basin came in handy, to insure I didn’t make a mess.

I love the tall, skinny, tree, a Christmas Trees Die, and used it to cut from three colors of cardstock; Misty Moonlight, Blushing Bride, and Macaron Mint.

The sentiment, “joy,” is from the Whimsical Trees Stamp Set, stamped in Mint Macaron Ink, and cut with the smallest Stitched So Sweetly Die. This die-cut is so cute, I use it whenever I have a word small enough to fit.

I thought I was finished, when the idea to add a bright star, came to mind. A small Rhinestone Jewel made a perfect, bright, star, don’t you think?

Be inspired by our GDP Designers, then create your own card, and hang it in our gallery.
