Merry Melody Christmas Card

Many of my customers tell me they find me on Pinterest, so I pay attention to the analytics offered there. Today’s card is using a layout that Pinterest tells me has been one of my most popular designs. You can see it at the bottom of this post.

I began with a Soft Sea Foam card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, topped with a layer of Soft Sea Foam Cardstock, 5 1/4″ X 4″. Prior to gluing, I embossed the layer with the Merry Melody Embossing Folder. Christmas calls for music, doesn’t it?

Merry Melody

Next, I cut the word “Merry” three times, and glued the three together for thickness. Wanting it to be subtle, I used the same color as the background, Soft Sea Foam.

The left side of the card was created with Painted Christmas Designer Paper and a Scalloped Contours Die. I cut a 1 1/4″ piece of the designer paper, and a 1 /1/4″ piece of Soft Sea Foam Cardstock, glued them together, and cut the edge with the Scalloped Contours Die. Then, I raised it on Dimensionals.

Now, for those adorable trees from the Christmas Trees Die Set. I cut one from Garden Green Cardstock, and one from Pear Pizzazz. Deciding the colors was easy, because Stampin’ Up! coordinates everything for us, and the names were listed with the Painted Christmas Designer Paper.

The cute tag is one of the Tailor Made Tag Dies, cut from Soft Sea Foam Cardstock, tied with Linen Thread, and attached with Dimensionals. “Christmas” is from the Snowman Season Stamp Set, stamped in Pear Pizzazz Ink.

I hope you enjoyed seeing how I created a Christmas card from my original, birthday design. You could say, I “cased” myself. Clicking on the picture will take you to the original blog post with the details.

Christmas Welcoming Window

ALERT: Shop Stampin’ Up today for the CLEARANCE REFRESH. Newly discounted items will go fast!

I love the sight of Christmas trees peeking through windows, and Stampin’ Up! has products for creating that scene. This is a clean & simple card that would be fairly easy to duplicate.

The Window Flower Box Dies were used to cut the window pane and shutters from Thick Basic White Cardstock, and the hinges from Gray Granite Cardstock.

Christmas Window

I matched the hinges to the Gray Granite card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. To make the “house” for the window, I used a Brick stamp from the Welcoming Window Stamp Set, stamping it in Gray granite Ink three times on Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″.

The tree was made with Shaded Spruce Cardstock and the Pine Tree Punch. First, I sliced the tree in half. Second, I glued it to the back of the window pane. Third, I glued the window pane in place. Fourth, I glued the shutters next to the window pane. Fifth, I glued the hinges in place.

“Merry Christmas” is from the Snowflake Wishes Stamp Set. I confess, I did a bit of surgery on the die, because I really needed this small sentiment. After cutting the stamp apart, I stamped it in Gray Granite Ink on Thick Basic White Cardstock, and used a Window Box Die for cutting. The die comes with texture; isn’t it cute?

My spot of Real Red was provided by the sweet little bird from the Beautiful Trees Die Set.

Welcoming Window for Global Design Project 312

For this week’s Global Design Project, we get to CASE Madeleine Mrotzek’s gorgeous card.

To CASE Madeleine, I used the Welcoming Window Stamp Set, Window Flower Box Dies, and Peach Dies for a clean & simple card. You can see details of these items in my Product List below.

Beginning with the bricks in Blushing Bride Ink, I stamped three times in each corner of  Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″. Then, I stamped “Welcome” in Crumb Cake Ink, and glued this layer to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Welcome Window

The window was cut with a Window Flower Box Die from Crumb Cake Cardstock, and raised with a thin strip of Dimensionals along the middle of the frame. This seemed enough support, without having to put Dimensionals on the narrower sides.

The blossoming branch was created with Peach Dies. The branch is Crumb Cake Cardstock, the leaves are Pear Pizzazz Cardstock, and the blossoms are Flirty Flamingo Cardstock. After gluing this in place, my CASE card was complete.

I hope you’ll be inspired by the entire design team, and add your creation to our gallery.

Welcoming Woods Painted Christmas

Today’s card was designed with two, large, circles in mind. My first decision was to stamp the trees from the Welcoming Woods Stamp Set in Soft Suede Ink on Basic White Cardstock, and use the second largest Layering Circles Die for cutting. Next, I chose a beautiful, pinecone pattern of Painted Christmas Designer Paper, which I cut 4″ X 5 1/4″. Then, I cut another circle from this pinecone layer, using the same die.

Both circles were backed with Brushed Metallic Cardstock, using the scalloped Layering Circles Die that’s a spec larger.

By Su Mohr for FMS; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for instructions! Featuring: Welcoming Woods Stamp Set, Beautiful Trees Dies, Heartfelt Wishes Stamp Set, Layering Circles Dies, Painted Christmas Designer Paper; #christmascards #holidaycards #pinecones #cardtechniques #circlesoncards #eclipsetechnique #heartfeltwishes #paintedchristmas #beautifultrees #welcomingwoods #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #stamping #stampinup

Pinecone Circles

At this point, I glued the pinecone layer to a Soft Succulent card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Then, I glued the circle of pinecones back in its hole, careful to match the pattern. The circle of trees was attached with Dimensionals to raise it up a bit.

The sentiment, “this wondrous season,” was stamped in Evening Evergreen Ink on Thick Basic White Cardstock, and cut with a Beautiful Trees Die. Half of the sentiment label was glued on the circle of trees, and half on Dimensionals.

And, because I had the Beautiful Trees Dies on my table, out popped the little bird die. So, I used the same Brushed Metallic Cardstock for cutting the birds, and added them to the scene.

I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.

Stitched Thanksgiving Card

Welcome to October! I think this is when Fall really begins. Therefore, today’s card is for Thanksgiving, with Fall colors and stitched leaves.

By Su Mohr for October 1; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Stitched Greenery Die, Word Wishes Dies, Stitched Leaves Dies, Cork Paper, Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon; #Fall #fallcards #thanksgivingcards #stitchedgreenery #stitchedleaves #wordwishes #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #blendingbrushes #sumohr #aromasnadart.com/shop #stampinup #stamping #october

Stitched Thanksgiving

The stitched leaves were easy to create with the 6″ X 4 3/4″ Stitched Greenery Die, which I used on Basic White Cardstock, 5 1/2″ X 2 1/2″. It worked perfectly on the envelope flap also; our Basic White Medium Envelope, shown in the picture above.

I used four ink colors and Blending Brushes to color the stitched leaves. From left to right: Pear Pizzazz, Mango Melody, Pumpkin Pie, and Cinnamon Cider. Those colors just sound like Fall, don’t they?

Next, I used Word Wishes Dies to cut “Happy Thanksgiving” from Cork Specialty Paper. And, I cut the words two more times from Crumb Cake Cardstock to layer the words for thickness.

Before gluing the words to the Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, I added more vertical, stitching with that unusual Stitched Leaves Die.

Prior to gluing the colored, stitched leaves to the card base, I added Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon to the bottom with Tear & Tape. It was just the right width, 1/4″!

The final touch was dotting the “i” in “Thanksgiving with Metallic Pearls.
