Dahlias are beautiful flowers, and the Delicate Dahlias Stamp Set has some wonderful images. What’s really great is that this stamp set is one of the FREE Sale-a-bration items you can choose with a qualifying order!

The stamps I used on today’s card are described by Stampin’ up! as “Distinktive,” meaning “they create different opacities in a single stamped image.” I stamped the large flower in Mango Melody Ink, and the leaves in Pear Pizzazz Ink on Basic White Cardstock. Then, I used my Paper Snips for cutting, and placed them on Dimensionals.

“Distinktive” Dahlia
For the background, I chose a piece of In Good Taste Designer Paper, cut with a Scalloped Contours Die. This was raised on Dimensionals atop a layer of Neutrals 6X6 Designer Paper in Sahara Sand. I cut this layer a spec smaller than the Sahara Sand card front (5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″) to insure it didn’t hang over the edge.

I used the same, In Good Taste Designer Paper, for the sentiment, which I stamped in Early Espresso Ink, and cut with a Stitched So Sweetly Die. “Let’s celebrate you!” is from the Sweet As A Peach Stamp Set.
Everything was attached to a Sahara Sand card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″), and my Delicate Dahlias celebration (Sale-a-bration) card was complete. I already have ideas for more cards using this fabulous set.

I was inspired by the Paper Players, and chose feminine, birthday, florals.

On this first day of September, I’d like you to meet Claire Bear, from the Count On Me Stamp Set. She is looking quite sassy in her pink, animal print bloomers, don’t you think? I created Claire Bear by stamping her in Memento Black Ink on Basic White cardstock, coloring her with a Gray Granite Stampin’ Blend, and cutting her free from the paper.
Claire Bear had seen a bear at Kreativpapier wearing overalls, and asked me to make her bloomers. I just stamped Claire on the Pattern Party Designer Paper, cut the portion for her bloomers, and glued them to her body, like paper dolls. This is a card technique called “paper piecing.” She wanted her heart to match, so I colored it with Flirty Flamingo and Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends.

Claire Bear
We had fun with layers for her background, beginning with the card base in Gray Granite Cardstock (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″). Then, I cut a piece of Neutrals 6X6″ Designer Paper to fit the card front, followed by Basic White Cardstock, cut with an Ornate Layers Die.

Next, I cut another print of Neutrals 6X6″ Designer Paper, 4 3/4″ X 1/3/4″, embossed it with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder, and glued it in the center of the white die-cut. The top layer is Basic White Cardstock, cut with a second, Ornate Layers Die, stamped with the sentiment in Gray Granite Ink, and raised on Dimensionals.

“The best kind of friend is the kind like you” is from the Always In My Heart Stamp Set. Claire Bear chose it to send to a special friend, and wanted to be attached with Dimensionals, so she could look at the words.

I was inspired by TGIF.

We have a “word play” theme for you this week at Global Design Project. And, the word is “thanks,” in my native language.
It was time to bring out the Ornate Thanks Stamp Set, where I would be sure to get lots of inspiration. I definitely wanted to use the word “thanks” in large type, with the sentiment, “from the bottom of my heart.”

One thing lead to the next, and I found myself using my favorite, Floral Heart Die, once again. First, I cut the heart from a piece of Expressions In Ink Designer Paper, 4″ X 5 1/4″. Then, I glued the designer paper to a Thick Basic White card base, and replaced the cut-out heart in its hole. The solid leaves were glued to hold it in place, and I left some sprigs free to lift, for dimension.

“from the bottom of my heart”
Next, I cut a second Floral Heart from Fresh Freesia, In-Color 6″ X 6″ Designer Paper. This time, I used just the center heart, where I stamped the word, “thanks,” in Rich Razzleberry Ink.
Oh, I forgot to say, before gluing things together, I stamped “from the bottom of my heart,” in Fresh Freesia Ink. Using the Stamparatus kept me calm while stamping this long sentiment. If you are unfamiliar with this tool, you can click on the picture in my Product List to read about it.
The last detail was adding some Artistry Bloom Sequins for a bit of sparkle.

This clean & simple card was easily made with the supplies in my Product List below.
Check out the projects by our design team. Then, add your card of “thanks” to our gallery.

The Sweet Stockings Designer Paper has wonderful animals to decorate your holiday cards, and today’s card features Whiskers, the cat-in-the-box.
Whiskers said she belonged next to a Christmas tree, with stars on it, to match her box. Amazingly, we found the perfect, Sweet Stockings Designer Paper, and used a Whimsical Christmas Trees Die for cutting. Before gluing the tree flat, I backed it with Evening Evergreen Cardstock for thickness.

Whiskers
The background began with a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. The first layer is Basic White Cardstock, cut with the largest Ornate Layers Die.

The next layer is Sweet Stockings Designer Paper, cut with the second largest, Stitched Rectangles Die. The top layer is Basic White Cardstock, cut with the third largest, Stitched Rectangles Die.

Prior to gluing the layers together, I stamped “Happy Christmas” in Cherry Cobbler Ink. Whiskers chose this sentiment from the Snow Wonder Stamp Set, because she was feeling “happy.” Can you see the smile on her face?
After attaching Whiskers with Dimensionals, we decided to add a few Bumblebee colored stars, cut with a Christmas Trees Die. You can see all of the dies in this great set in my Product List below.

Be inspired by the beautiful, Painted Christmas Designer Paper, then design a card using the Christmas Pinecone Dies.

Christmas Pinecones
Let’s start with the background, a Real Red card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Next, I used an Ornate Layers Die to cut the Painted Christmas Designer Paper in the pinecone print. The same die was used to cut Basic White Cardstock, which was glued to the pinecone print by matching, and overlapping, six holes at the center. I hope that makes sense.

The pinecones were made with Christmas Pinecone Dies, and two colors of cardstock. I first used the plain die to cut a large and small pinecone from Crumb Cake Cardstock. Then, I used the detailed die to cut from Early Espresso Cardstock, and glued the pieces together. Don’t they look realistic?

The pine boughs were cut with one of the large Christmas Pinecone Dies from Evening Evergreen Cardstock. The die is in the first photo, and you can see the complete set in my Product list below.
The sentiment, “Merry Christmas,” is from the Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set, stamped in Real Red Ink, and cut with an Ornate Layers Die. I made the Basic White label a bit shorter by using a Stitched Rectangles Die to cut one end. If you look closely, you can see the stitching is slightly larger on the right side, but I doubt anyone would notice. Isn’t the font pretty?
The Real Red sprig was cut with a Poinsettia Die, one of my favorite sets for Christmas cards.

I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.

Have you seen the Whimsical Trees Bundle? It happens to be one of the FREE bundles you could choose to go along with your Starter Kit. I used an adorable tree, from the Whimsical Trees Stamp Set, on today’s card, but you can see the entire bundle by clicking on the picture in my Products List below. If you’ve been thinking about joining Stampin’ Up! for the many benefits, and discount, this is an irresistible offer!
The first thing I did was stamp the cute, little, tree in Soft Succulent Ink on Basic White Cardstock, and cut it with a Stitched Rectangles Die, 1 1/8″ X 1 5/8″.

Whimsical Tree
Second, I chose two patterns of Tidings Of Christmas Designer Paper, and used two Stitched Rectangles Dies for cutting. The smaller rectangle measures 1 6/8″ X 3 1/8″ (backed with Silver Foil, 1/8″ larger). And, the larger rectangle measures 3 3/8″ X 4 3/4″.

Next, I embossed the Soft Succulent card base ( 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″) with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder. After embossing, I glued the larger print flat, and raised the smaller, foil-backed print, on Dimensionals, at an angle. Then, I attached the tree on Dimensionals.

The sentiment is from the Tidings & Trimmings Stamp Set, stamped in Cherry Cobbler Ink, and cut with an Ornate Frames Die. This die-cut is so cute, because it come with a hole, just the right size for some Simple Elegant Trim.
The trim comes in silver and gold, and if you follow my blog, you already know it’s my August Host Code Gift. So, use my host code when you order (under my profile picture) and don’t miss out!

I was inspired by the Paper Players.
