Forever Greenery “Gate Fold” Card

I recently made a “gate fold” card, and it was so easy and fun, I decided to “CASE” myself. For those outside of this stamping world, “CASE” means to copy and share everything.

For today’s “gate fold” card,  I used Forever Greenery Designer Paper, after all, it’s green, a traditional Christmas color.

First, I cut Garden Green Cardstock in half, lengthwise, 4 1/4″ X 11″, which will make two card bases. Then, I scored each end of one card base at 2 3/4″, and folded to meet in the middle. Wasn’t that simple? You’ll need to give the folds a good burnishing with your bone folder, because they have a tendency to open (when you don’t want them to).

To decorate the sides, I cut two pieces of Whisper White Cardstock, 2 1/4″ X 3″, and two pieces of Forever Greenery Cardstock, 1/8″ smaller. The Whisper White Cardstock serves as a frame. Then, I glued the panels as close to the middle as possible.

Forever Greenery “Gate Fold” Card

Isn’t the tree pretty? It’s Forever Greenery Designer Paper, cut with the tallest Stitched Triangles Die, and layered on Garden Green Cardstock for thickness.

“Joy” was cut with a Joy Die from Brushed Metallic Cardstock, and glued flat, with part of the “y” on the tree.

I completed the inside with a branch and sentiment from the Cherish The Season Stamp Set, stamped in Garden Green Ink, on Whisper White Cardstock.

Plus, I added a third tree as backing, to give the inside a nice finished look.

November 24th One Day Sale!

Yes, I’m having a fun Thanksgiving week, but not too busy to let you know about Stampin’ Up’s “Black Friday” sale.

First, I’ll share a few pics from the Indian Wells Country Club. It was a beautiful day, and I love those desert mountains. This is Neil, who is a good golfer.

And, this is Su, who just enjoys trying, sometimes.

My favorite hole is the 19th, although, I often wish it was the 10th.

Outdoor dining was a bit different at the Cliff House, one of our favorite restaurants, but this view is always fabulous.

Sally the Snowman for GDP268

Today’s card features the snowman from the Snow Wonder Bundle. As far as gender, this is definitely a girl, with her pink wreath and rhinestones. But, I think of “snowman” as I do “mankind,” to include both sexes. So, her name is Sally, and I hope this is politically correct.

Sally, from the Snow Wonder Stamp Set, said I should stamp her with Memento Black Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, and use her Snow Time Die for cutting. She mentioned she was the easiest, and best focal point, in the entire August-December 2020 Mini Catalog. I can’t argue with the ease, and she is really cute.

Sally the Snowman

After thinking about a sentiment, she decided on “Joy to the world,” because she brings joy to everyone. “Joy” was cut with a “Joy Die” from Basic Black Cardstock that was adhered to a Foam Adhesive Sheet. This is a great way to add dimension to those thin letters, and Sally was happy she could hold “joy” so easily. The coordinating stamp set, Peace & Joy, had the words, “to the world,” which I stamped in Memento Black Ink, and hand cut with scissors.

Snow

The wreath HAD to be pink, and I used a Wreath Builder Die to cut it from one of the amazing pieces of In Good Taste Designer Paper. Sally said she wanted it decorated with pretty rhinestones, and it also needed a Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon Bow. She was very specific about that!

Sally said she needed snow, because she didn’t want to melt, and the Winter Snow Embossing Folder was perfect for making snow on Whisper White Cardsock, 4″ X 5 1/4″. I glued this to a Thick Whisper White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, so Sally will be safe, at least until Christmas.

Sally confided in me that she did get some ideas from Charlet’s card at Global Design Project. I reassured her that she was supposed to do that, as long as as she gave Charlet credit. Here is Charlet’s pretty card, which you can click on to get a better view. You can also see how other designers used Charlet’s idea.

Stitched Leaves In Stitched Circles

I began today’s “thanks” or “Thanksgiving” card with a Mossy Meadow card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, layered with Whisper White Cardstock. The layer was cut with the largest Ornate Layers Die, and embossed with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder.

By Su Mohr for Fusion; Click aromasandart.com to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Stitched Leaves Dies, Ornate layers Dies, Tasteful Textile embossing, Stitched Shapes Dies, Copper Foil, Word Wishes Dies, Ladybug Trinkets, Blending Brushes; #thankyoucards #thanksgivingcards #stitchedleaves #leaves #leavesoncards #cardsketches #cardthemes #cardinspiration #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #cardinstruction #blendingbrushes

Stitched Leaves

Now, for the leaves. Oh my goodness! The new Blending Brushes are a-m-a-a-a-a-zing! Maybe I’ve been living under a rock, but I was expecting something more like a sponge, not these incredibly soft brushes. The brushes are coming soon, #153611, available Jan. 3, 2021, so put them on your list.

Once I stopped feeling the bristles, I added Garden Green Ink, and Mossy Meadow Ink, and smoothed it over Whisper White Cardstock.

Next, I used two Stitched Leaves Dies to cut the leaves from my newly, green colored, cardstock, while using  their embossing dies for interior stitching. (See the first photo).

To back the leaves, I used Stitched Shapes Dies to cut circles from Mossy Meadow and Soft Suede Cardstock. For the outline stitching on the circles, I used the Stitched Leaves Dies a second time. Then, I glued these cut circles to a second set of complete circles, and inlaid the leaves.

The smallest, gingham, circle was cut from Heartwarming Hugs Designer Paper, and glued flat. Then, I attached the two larger circles with Dimensionals.

The sentiment was cut from Copper Foil with a Word Wishes Die, placed on a Foam Adhesive Sheet. It was easy to snip “giving” from “Thanksgiving” to simply say “Thanks.” The more difficult part was removing all the tiny parts from the letters.

While I was photographing my card, a little ladybug flew onto a leaf. I decided to let her stay, and she is secured in place with a Mini Glue Dot. If you’re wondering, she is a Ladybug Trinket, #154299, part of the Dandy Garden Suite in the January-June 2021 Mini Catalog.

I was inspired by Fusion; the sketch, colors, and theme.

I’m also sharing with TGIF, whose theme is “thankful.”

Heartwarming Hugs Spells J-O-Y

“Joy” is one of my favorite three-letter words, and it seemed perfect for today’s design.

By Su Mohr for FMS; Click aromasandart.com to go to my blog; Featuring: Heartwarming Hugs designer paper, Peace & Joy Stamp Set,Ornate Layers Dies, Playful Alphabet Dies, Layering Squares Dies, Absolutely Argyle embossing; #christmascards #holidaycards #holiday2020 #joytotheworls #peace&joy #playfulalphabet #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #cardsketches

JOY to the world

I first decided to use Heartwarming Hugs Designer Paper, and cut three squares of different patterns with a plain, Layering Squares Die. Then, I cut three squares from Real Red Cardstock with the scalloped, Layering Squares Die, that’s a smidge larger than the plain square. After gluing them together, I placed them on Dimensionals.

Next, I cut the letters J-O-Y, using Playful Alphabet Dies with Heartwarming Hugs Designer Paper, and Foam Adhesive Sheets. Don’t the letters look cute on the squares?

For the background, I cut a piece of Whisper White Cardstock with the largest Ornate Layers Die, and embossed it with the Absolutely Argyle Embossing Folder.

I glued my embossed layer to a Real Red card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

I completed the sentiment with “to the world” from the Peace & Joy Stamp Set. It was stamped in Real Red Ink, fussy cut, and attached with a thin strip from the edge of Dimensionals.

I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.

Pine Woods Christmas Card

Feels Like Frost Designer Paper is so pretty, and I love this print in shades of purple and green.

The first thing I did was select the card base in Highland Heather, to blend with the colors in the designer paper. Then, I glued the designer paper (4″ X 5 1/4″) to the card front.

By Su Mohr for PP and TGIF; Click aromasandart.com to go to my blog for details! Christmas Tree

Next, I used two Layering Ovals Dies to cut a scalloped oval from Feels Like Frost Designer Paper, and a plain oval from Highland Heather Cardstock.

The tree was made with a Pine Woods Die, cut from Feels Like Frost Designer Paper, and layered on cardstock for thickness.

I glued the ovals and tree together, and attached to the card front with Dimensionals.

This is how I used a second piece of designer paper for the three die cuts. The scalloped oval was cut to match, the tree was from the green corner, and the sentiment was from the lightest section, so the words would show.

One of my favorite sentiments, “Blessed Christmas Wishes,” is from the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set, stamped in Gorgeous Grape Ink, and cut with the smallest Stitched Rectangles Die. I placed it on Dimensionals, and my card was complete.

This exact card isn’t one for quantity, but the design could be adapted to a multitude of papers.

I was inspired by TGIF, and didn’t realize until I finished that I used the same paper as Tami!

I’m also sharing with the Paper Player’s holiday theme.
