I began today’s Christmas card with a Thick Very Vanilla card base, and a layer of Very Vanilla Cardstock. I embossed the layer with the Scripty Embossing Folder at an angle.

Holly & Berries
The Toile Tidings Designer Paper has a Very Vanilla background, so a perfect choice to complete my design.
I used a Beautiful Boughs Die to cut a fancy rectangle from a piece of the DSP with Garden Green branches and berries.

To add some colorful berries, I used a Light Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blend. I layered the rectangle for thickness, and threaded some Braided Linen Trim through its cute, little, holes.
Can you see the branch I fussy cut from the DSP?

After placing the rectangle on Dimensionals, I taped the ends of the trim to the back of the Scripty embossed layer, tied a knot at the top, and fringed the ends.
“Christmas Cheer” is from the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set, stamped in cherry Cobbler ink, and cut with an Ornate Frames Die.

The layout for my card is from the Global Design Project.

Thank you for visiting my blog! Have a wonderful day!

I’m always needing masculine, birthday cards, and leaves and trees are good subject matter.

Leaves & Trees
This card began with a Thick Whisper White card base layered with Woodland embossing. The leaves and tree “slice” are from the Rooted In Nature Stamp Set.
I stamped the leaves in Pear Pizazz Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, using an Aqua Painter and additional ink, to achieve the watercolored look.
The tree “slice” was stamped in Early Espresso Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, and fussy cut with Paper Snips. The leaves were cut with a die from the coordinating, Nature’s Roots Die Set, and placed on Dimensionals.

“Happy” is from the Merry Christmas Die Set, cut from Whisper White Cardstock, that I colored with Calypso Coral Ink by using a Sponge Dauber. It has three layers, so the “y” that is hanging off will be sturdy.
“Birthday” is from the Well Said Stamp Set, stamped in Early Espresso Ink, also cut with a Merry Christmas Die. I was able to place a Mini-Dimensional beneath it for support.

For some sparkle, I added a few Iridescent Sequins, in colors close to Pear Pizazz and Calypso Coral.

My colors are from the TGIF challenge.

Thank you for checking out my masculine, birthday card. You can see details about my supplies by clicking on the pictures in my Product List below. Have a great day!

The combination of gold and white is a winner for Christmas cards.

Golden Reindeer
First, I stamped the fancy, reindeer from the Dashing Deer Stamp Set in Golden Glitz Delicata Ink. Then, I used her Detailed Deer Die for cutting. Isn’t she pretty? This angle shows the shine.

I made the reindeer’s frame with Sparkle Glimmer Paper and two Stitched Shapes Dies.
TIP: Cut the largest square die and the medium square die at the same time, one inside the other.
Behind the framed reindeer is a strip of Whisper White Cardstock, 1 3/4″ X 5 1/2″, that I embossed with Swirls and Curls. I glued this to the middle of my Thick Whisper White card base.

For more white, the corner of the frame is decorated with a Polka Dot Tulle bow. I attached it with Tear & Tape for security.
Finally, “Happy Christmas” is from the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set, stamped in Memento Black Ink on Thick Whisper White Cardstock. It fit perfectly within one of our new, Ornate Frames die-cuts.

My inspiration for the layout was from CAS(E) this sketch.

It’s the Magical Mermaid bringing birthday wishes.

Mermaid Wishes
When I saw the Fusion challenge, my first thought was Stampin’ Up’s Magical Mermaid Stamp Set. Although, honestly, I thought of eating that cupcake too!

I began by stamping the mermaid in Basic Gray Ink on Thick Whisper White Cardstock. The Stampin’ Blends I used for coloring are in my Product List below.
TIP: I used my Paper Snips, trimming close to the mermaid’s lines, to eliminate a white border.

For her background, I cut an oval, using the largest Layering Ovals Die, in a piece of Mercury Glass Acetate. Next, I glued this to a selection of Perennial Essence Designer Paper. Then, I glued this background to a Shaded Spruce card base.
TIP: Applying tiny dots of glue to the solid areas in the Mercury Glass, keeps the glue from showing.
“Wishes” is from the Well Written Die Set, cut from Nobel Peacock Foil in Old Olive.

I completed the inside with two stamps from the Magical Mermaid Stamp Set, stamped in Shaded Spruce Ink, and highlights of Granny Apple Green.
I decorated the Whisper White, medium envelope with the same Perennial Essence DSP, cut 5 3/4″ X 2 1/4″ , glued to the flap, and trimmed with Paper Snips.

Thank you for visiting. I hope your day goes “swimmingly!”

The Paper Players have a fun theme challenge this week, “Into the Woods.”

My first thought was of the Winter Woods Stamp Set, and the neat row of trees.

Christmas Woods
I remembered a card I made a while ago, with a leaf, die-cut, window for viewing the trees. Clicking on the picture will take you to the details.
These products are retired now, so I needed to improvise.

The large, Magnolia Memory die was used for cutting my “leaf” window. First, I glued the wood textured paper from Pressed Petals DSP to Crumb Cake Cardstock. It needed to be durable, because it would be raised on Dimensionals.
Next, I stamped the row of trees, from In The Woods, in Early Espresso Ink on Whisper White Cardstock. Then, I attached the wood textured, die-cut piece, on top with Dimensionals, and glued both to a Crumb Cake card base.

The Christmas tree, from the Winter Woods Stamp Set, was stamped in Garden Green Ink with Mint Macaron highlights on Thick Whisper White Cardstock. I used its die from In The Woods for cutting, and positioned it, with its right side on an Adhesive Foam Strip.

The sentiment, Thinking of you at Christmas, ” is from the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set. I used VersaMark and White Embossing Powder for stamping on the wood textured DSP. Then, I used the smallest Stitched Shapes square die for cutting.
The last detail was the little cardinal, made with a Botanical Tags Die, and a scrap of Real Red cardstock.

Nearly all the cards I make are 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″, but this one is square, 4 1/4″ X 4 1/4″.
I began with a 4″ X 4″ square of Wrapped In Plaid Designer Paper. Then, I gave it some texture with the Subtle Textured Embossing Folder to make it look even more like fabric.

Gold Tree on Plaid
Before adhering the square, “fabric” to the Crumb Cake card base, I used a Be Mine Stitched Die to give a scalloped edge to all four sides. And, I tied some Linen Thread around it, shredding the ends
TIP: I backed it with Crumb Cake Cardstock to give it thickness, cut I/8″ smaller, so it wouldn’t be visible.

Next, I used the Pine Tree Punch to cut a Gold Foil Christmas tree, and gave it the Subtle Textured treatment also.

Last, but not least, the sentiment. “Very Merry!” is from the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set, stamped in Cherry Cobbler Ink on Crumb Cake Cardstock, and cut with an Ornate Frames Die.

I was inspired by the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

I’m excited to report that Stampin’ Up’s new, improved Paper Trimmer is now available! I love the clean cut it gives, and makes measuring, and scoring, a breeze. It’s the starting point for every card I make.
