Fairy Peeking Through A Garden Wall

This is my third New Wonders card in the last three days. The New Wonders Stamp Set has three, adorable fairies who needed equal time.

“Poppin’ In”

When I saw the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches, I envisioned a fairy peeking through the hole in a garden wall.

The garden wall was made with Thick Very Vanilla Cardstock, which I embossed with the Hammered Metal Embossing Folder. If you use your imagination, you can see stones. A Layering Circles Die was used to cut the hole in the wall. For dimension, I raised the wall on Adhesive Foam Strips.

I stamped the fairy in Memento Black Ink on a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock, positioned so she could peek through the hole.

The fairy is colored with Stampin’ Blends, detailed in my Product List below.

Magnolia Lane Linen Thread is wrapped around the bottom of the wall.

The background is Pressed Petals Designer Paper, layered on a Mossy Meadow card base.

The sentiment is from the New Wonders Stamp Set, stamped in Old Olive Ink, on Very Vanilla Cardstock, cut with Layering Ovals Dies. The scalloped oval was cut from Noble Peacock Foil for a bit of shine.

New Wonders Fairy Card

I adore the fairies in Stampin’ Up’s host set, New Wonders!

By Su Mohr for GDP; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: New Wonders Stamp Set, Stylish Scroll embossing, Ornate Frames Dies, Stampin' Blends alcohol markers; #fairies #fairiesoncards #newwonders #birthdaycards #celebrationcards #stampinblends #alcoholmarkers #ornateframes #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking

New Wonders Fairy

The images have shadows, which makes for easy coloring with Stampin’ Blends, alcohol markers. First, I stamped the fairy and small leaf in Memento Black Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, and cut a square around the fairy, 2 3/4″ X 2 3/4″. Then, I backed the square with Highland Heather Cardstock for a 1/16″ border.’

Then, I fussy cut six, small leaves, and colored them with Light Old Olive. The fairy was colored with four “Light” Stampin’ Blends: Highland Heather (dress), Soft Suede (hair), Petal Pink (skin) and Soft Sea Foam (wings).

For the background, I used a Purple Posy card base, topped with Whisper White Cardstock that I embossed with the Stylish Scrolls Embossing Folder. The 4″ X 1 1/2″ piece beneath the square is from the In-Color 6X6 Designer Paper in a “scroll” pattern to match the card base color, Purple Posy.

“Celebrate” is one of the sentiments in the New Wonders Stamp Set, stamped with Highland Heather Ink on Purple Posy Cardstock, and cut with one of the Ornate Frames Dies.

My Inspiration for the layout was from Global design project.

I’m also sharing with Seize the Birthday, because that’s what this little fairy is celebrating.

I almost overlooked the Stylish Scrolls Embossing Folder and Ornate Frames Dies, because they were on a Halloween page of the Holiday Catalog. I’m so glad I “found” them, because I love their versatility.

Framed Christmas tree

I began by building a frame with Toile Tidings Designer Paper. First, I used the largest Rectangle Stitched Die to cut the green, leafy print. Second, I cut an identical piece of Thick Very Vanilla Cardstock. Third, I glued the two together, and used a Beautiful Boughs Die to cut a hole, making a frame. Fourth, I attached Adhesive Foam Strips to the frame’s back, so it could be lifted on the Thick Very Vanilla card base.

Next, I found a beautiful tree in my stash of unused pieces for my focal point. The tree is from the Winter Woods Stamp Set, and cut with a die from In the Woods. I remember using several shades of green; probably Shaded Spruce, Garden Green and Mint Macaron. I used regular Dimensionals to lift the tree from the card front.

TIP: The tree is lower than the frame, because Foam Adhesive Strips are double the thickness of regular Dimensionals.

“Merry” is from the Merry Christmas Die Set, which I cut from Real Red Cardstock, and layered for thickness. “Christmas” is from the Merry Christmas To All Stamp Set, stamped in Real Red Ink on Thick Very Vanilla Cardstock, and cut with a Merry Christmas Die.

The Beautiful Boughs Die Set provided the pinecones. I cut two solid shapes from Crumb Cake Cardstock, and two open shapes from Soft Suede Cardstock, and glued the two together. A bow of Linen Thread was glued to the top of the pinecones, and my card was complete.

Feels Like Frost Holiday Leaves

Feels Like Frost is such beautiful Designer Paper, it’s fun to add some dimension to it.

By Su Mohr for Fab Friday; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Feels Like Frost DSP, Layering Circles Dies, Nature's Roots Dies, Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set, Silver Metallic Thread, Woven Threads Sequins; #christmascards #holidaycards #feelslikefrost #naturesroots #leaves #leavesoncards #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #cardtechniques #cardinstructions #dimensiononcards

Feels Like Frost Leaves

I began with this Feels Like Frost DSP, which happened to have a leaf the exact size of a Nature’s Roots leaf die. After cutting the DSP to 4″ X 5/14″, I cut the large leaf from the DSP.

Then, I cut two smaller leaves from the “left-over” piece of DSP, layered all three leaves for thickness, and embossed them with their Nature’s Roots embossing dies.

Next, I used the Layering Circles Dies to cut circles; one from the DSP, and one from the reverse side of a different pattern from the pack, which is a silver foil.

After gluing the two smaller leaves to the back of the circle, I placed it on Dimensionals in the hole, matching the pattern, eclipse style.

The scene looked peaceful to me, so I chose “Peace & Happiness” for the sentiment from Itty Bitty Christmas. I used the Classic label Punch for cutting. Before placing it, I attached some Silver Metallic Thread on the back, which is secured with a Dimensional.

The sequins were a last minute idea, so they aren’t in my Product List. They are the Woven Threads Sequins, #149498.

My inspiration for the layout was from Fab Friday.

Thank you for visiting my blog. I really like these embossed leaves, so an idea is brewing for a Fall card. See you next time!

Beautiful Boughs and Antlers

Today’s Christmas card began with a Thick Very Vanilla card base, layered with Toile Tidings Designer Paper. Isn’t the red checked paper fabulous?

By Su Mohr; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for detaisl! Featuring: Beautiful Boughs Die Set, Detailed Deer Die Set, Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set, Shimmery Crystal Effects, Ice Stampin' Glitter, Toile Tidings DSP; #christmascards #holidaycards #reindeer #2019holidaycatalog #handmdecards #handcrafted #cardmaking #diy #toiletidings #detaileddeer #beautifulboughs

Sparkly Boughs

TIP: Toile Tidings Designer Paper has a vanilla background, so matches Very Vanilla Cardstock, rather than Whisper White.

I used the largest Stitched Rectangles Die to cut the Designer Paper, and the second largest to cut the top layer of Thick Very Vanilla Cardstock. Then, using a Beautiful Boughs Die, I cut a bough from Thick Very Vanilla Cardstock.

Next, comes the really fun part! Did you see page 41 in the Holiday catalog? There’s a close-up showing two new products, Shimmery Crystal Effects and Ice Stampin’ Glitter, that I applied to my bough.

TIP: The Shimmery Crystal Effects acts as glue, and you sprinkle on the Ice Stampin’ Glitter the same way you use Embossing Powder, but without having to heat set it.

My beautiful, sparkly bough was making me think of antlers, so I found my favorite reindeer from the Detailed Deer Die Set. He is made of woodgrain paper from Pressed Petals Designer Paper. I layered him for thickness and placed him on Dimensionals.

“Joy to the World” is from the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set, stamped in Soft Suede Ink.

Thank you for stopping by. You can see details of the new products by clicking on the pictures in my Product List. I hope your day “sparkles!”

Beautiful Boughs Thanksgiving Card

Today’s card is in neutral tones for Thanksgiving.

By Su Mohr for the Paper Players Design Team and FMS; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Beautiful Boughs Dies, Pressed Petals DSP, Painted Harvest Stamp Set, Golden Glitz Delicata Ink; #thanksgivingcards #cardsofthanks #thankfulforyou #paintedharvest #beautifulboughs #delicataink #goldink #pressedpetals #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking

Thanksgiving Boughs

I took my cue from the Paper Players theme challenge.

I was also inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.

I began by deciding what to use for my small, medium and large squares that would work for a Thanksgiving card. Since it could be any shape, I chose a Beautiful Boughs Die, which I cut from burlap (Pressed Petals Designer Paper). I cut two boughs, leaving one whole for the largest square, and snipping a branch from the other for the top and middle squares.

The card base is Soft Suede Cardstock, topped with Whisper White Cardstock, which provided a nice contrast to the boughs. Before gluing the boughs, I stamped the sentiment in Soft Suede Ink. “I am thankful for you” is from the Painted Harvest Stamp Set.

This stamp set also provided the little dots that I stamped in our new Golden Glitz Delicata Ink.

For a finishing touch, I decorated the envelope flap with retired Designer Paper, which shows in my first photo.

Thank you for visiting my blog today. If you check out my Product List, you’ll see that few supplies are needed for this “quick & easy” card. I always appreciate you shopping at my store!

Now, off you go for more inspiration from the Paper Players Design Team.
