This is such a pretty “swoosh” from the Star of Light stamp set. I haven’t used it for fireworks, but today is the day!

When I saw the challenge at Less Is More, it’s the first thing that popped into my mind.

I’m learning to leave lots of white space in these challenges, although, it doesn’t need to be literally “white.” It can be open space of any color. But, I like the way that color stands out against black and white, so I went with a Basic Black swoosh on Whisper White.
Then, I stamped the fireworks in eight, bright colors using a stamp from the same set, and a Starlight Die for cutting. Before popping them up on Mini Dimensionals, I embossed “celebrate” across the swoosh.

This “quick and easy” card could be used for any celebration, so I haven’t decided the inside sentiment yet.
Thanks for stopping by my blog, and have a great weekend!

WOW! Look what’s going on over at CAS(E) this sketch this week. Leigh’s sketch got everyone’s creative juices flowing, and the designer’s projects are gorgeous!

TaeEun is the guest designer, and her project knocked my socks off! Would you like to see it?

I love the white, die-cut foliage on the sunset colored background, and I was inspired to make something similar. Here it is:

Since I’m in my Christmas card making mode, I thought the Pretty Pines Thinlits would give me the white, die-cut pieces I needed.

I chose three colors of ink for my background, (Emerald Envy, Lemon Lime Twist, Old Olive) and experimented a bit before coming up with a look I liked.
My method: I blotted a Baby Wipe on the three ink pads and transferred the color to a piece of cellophane. I spritzed this with water, and placed my Thick Whisper White card stock on top of it. I lifted it , and dried it with the heat tool. It curled a bit, so I placed it under a heavy book, while I finished the sentiment.
I stamped Merry Christmas from the Star of Light stamp set in Basic Black, and used the Bunch of Banners die for cutting, scissor snipping one end to be flush with the edge.
Three, white sequins were the final detail.

The entire time I was making this card, I kept this week’s Tic Tac Toe challenge in mind. How about the left row down?

It may be a stretch, but this is what I came up with. The greens are “vibrant” against the white, sequins are “circles,” and the pine boughs are “stripes.” Oh, and I can throw in my “black” sentiment for good measure.
I just love these challenges, and now I have a new Baby Wipe/cellophane/spritzing method that I can use again. Thank you for all of your inspiration!

I get a thrill from designing totally unique cards every single time. But, there are elements that are worth repeating, like stamping this Christmas tree (Lovely As A Tree stamp set) on Merry Music Designer Series Paper.
This is the card I made a couple weeks ago, and I stamped the tree in Old Olive:
Merry Musical Season
Today, I stamped the tree in Tranquil Tide:

This is the perfect color for a pine tree, and I can even smell the wonderful fragrance. Maybe because it’s closer to Christmas?
Further inspiration for today’s card was provided by Freshly Made Sketches:

You can see the rectangle that was immediately filled with my musical tree. I decided on a card base of Tranquil Tide, layered with Whisper White. After looking through Quilted Christmas Designer Series Paper, I chose a Real Red gingham check for the background.

Now for that cute, little circle in the sketch. I repeated the music on Basic Black, and two Circle Punches made easy work of it. The 1 3/8″ punch for the music, and the 1 1/2″ punch for the Basic Black, gave just the right size border. I found the reindeer and tree in the Carols of Christmas Bundle, and die cutting them took no time at all.
I don’t know what I’d do without the Teeny Tiny Wishes sentiments! I stamped “Merry Christmas” in Basic Black, punched it out with the Classic Label Punch, and nailed it down with two Black Rhinestone Jewels.

Once the decisions are made, this card doesn’t take much time. I may end up making a quantity of these by changing the music and the background.
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I hope you enjoyed seeing my tree of a different color.

I’m in the midst of making Christmas cards, so when I saw Global Design’s Project theme, nothing says “family time” more to me than Christmas.

I decided to play with some heat embossing, inspired by Kim Jolley, and ended up with a very pretty snowflake I’d like to share with you.

I began with a piece of Watercolor Paper, figuring it could handle the heat and other stressful things I might do to it. I stamped my “C” size Clear Block onto the VersaMark pad, and then stamped all over the Watercolor Paper. I then spread the Gold Embossing powder across the surface, shook off the extra, and blew it dry with the Heat Tool.

For those of you who have done this, you know how much fun it is. For those of you who haven’t, it’s pretty amazing! You can barely see where you’ve stamped the VersaMark, until you pour the powder across it. Then, you watch the dull powder turn to shiny goodness as it heats and becomes stationary.

It wasn’t until this point that I decided what I would do with my golden background. It’s popular now to mix metals, so I wanted to add Copper Powder. I was ready to experiment with the Winter Wonderland embossing folder, and embossed the large snowflake onto the center of my project. Next, I took the VersaMark, stamped it all over the snowflake, poured the Copper Powder, shook off the extra, and dried with the Heat Tool. Voila!
I thought Copper Trim would be pretty across the top, so I taped the ends on the back of the art piece before gluing it to the Very Vanilla card base, and secured it to the front with Tear Tape under the bow.
“Merry Christmas” is from the Star of Light Stamp set, which I heat embossed with Copper Powder using the same Watercolor Paper. The Bunch of Banners die has that pretty frame, which I cut from Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Paper, adding even more sparkle.

If you haven’t tried heat embossing, I hope you give it a try. Wishing you all some wonderful, family time!

It took me two seconds to decide which Tic Tac Toe direction I would go in the Paper Players new challenge. The middle row across (Christmas, die-cut/punch, wreath) would be my choice. I’d been wanting to use the Stampin’ Blends to color the wreath in the Feeling of Christmas stamp set, so this would work out perfectly.

I stamped the wreath in Tranquil Tide on regular weight Whisper White card stock, and selected the Stampin’ Blends. I used Light and Dark Old Olive and Dark Bermuda Bay for the leaves, Dark Cherry Cobbler for the berries and bow, and Light Daffodil Delight for the lights.
I’m near-sighted, but wore reading glasses in order to get the precise “dot, dot, dot” in the tiny leaves. It was worth it, watching this delicate wreath come to life.

After congratulating myself for the patience it took to color the wreath, I cut the wreath with a circle die, intending to place this on the Garden Green card base.
I wasn’t happy with the look, so I glued the circle on a Whisper White card front. Don’t ask me why, but I decided to add texture to my card front with the Quilt Top Textured embossing folder.
I was taking a chance on obscuring the leaves of my wreath after all of my careful coloring. Was I relieved when it came through the Big Shot looking as I was hoping it would!

For the sentiment, I used the die cut word “merry” from Christmas Greetings, and doubled it for dimension. “Christmas” is from the same Feeling of Christmas stamp set, which is a rubber stamp. I colored the word with a Stampin’ Write marker, and used the small die from At Home for cutting.
I ran this through the Big Shot using the embossing folder, careful to match the pattern. HINT: I stamped “Christmas” several times before getting one I liked without the bottom of the “f” and “g” from the word above.

Christmas wreaths make such pretty cards. Thank you for the inspiration, Paper Players!

Welcome to the Remarkable InkBig Blog Hop for October 2017. This month our theme is Give Thanks! You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog, Su Mohr, or may have come from the person previous to me in the list. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all the projects.
Since Thanksgiving is around the corner, it was the perfect time to make this Z-Fold card using the Large Letters Framelits Dies. The neat thing about this design is it allows you to use longer words that fit in Stampin’ Up’s regular envelope.

I discovered on a previous project that I liked the Large Letters using the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper, and chose a dark brown. This would go with the center of the sunflower in a pattern from the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper. The card base would be Garden Green, as well as the band, which I covered in gingham from Quilted Christmas DSP.

Are you ready for instructions?
The card base is 11″ X 4 1/4″. Score at 2 3/4″ and another 2 3/4″, which will leave the largest 5 1/2″ section.
The band is 1 1/4″ X 11″. Score same as above.
Sunflower DSP: the two small sections are 2 1/2″ X 4″, and the large section is 5 1/4″ X 4″.
Gingham DSP: the large section is 1″ X 5 1/4″, and the two small sections are 1″ X 2 1/4″.
After gluing the DSP in place, die cut two sets of Large Letters. One set from the Wood Textures DSP, and one set from Garden Green cardstock, and glue them together. This will make the free-standing letters sturdy, as well as looking nice from the back. Position your letters, and glue them to the band. I was able to use the lines in the gingham to keep the letters even. HINT: Glue only the bottom half of A-N-K-S.
Now, fold your card base and band. You’ll be gluing the long section of the band to the small front card base, and the short section of the band to the large card base. Do not glue the band behind A-N-K-S. Play around with it, until it makes sense, so you glue the right places. HINT: Glue the band while the card base is closed.

I wanted to add “Happy” and “Giving” to my “Thanks,” and there definitely was not enough room for more Large Letters. I found the solution in the Labeler Alphabet. I stamped the letters with Chocolate Chip ink on Whisper White cardstock, fussy cut the little squares, and popped them up on Mini Dimensionals. This stamp set is very forgiving, because it’s meant to have a slightly careless look. That’s my story, and I’m stickin’ with it!

We’re going out of town for Thanksgiving this year. I think I have to take this with me for table decoration!
Maybe I’ll run into someone who wants to start creating with me. Woo Hoo!!!

Thanks for taking part in our blog hop, there are so many amazing ideas and inspiration you don’t want to miss. Remember that currently you are at my blog, Su Mohr, so check the blog hop line up list to see who is next in the list.
