Pretty Pumpkins Thanksgiving Card

The July-December 2021 Mini Catalog offers much holiday goodness, and the Pretty Pumpkin Bundle was at the top of my list. Pumpkins always decorate my home in October and November, and they are perfect for Halloween and Thanksgiving cards.

I began by stamping the three pumpkins in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock, and coloring with Stampin’ Blends in four colors: PumpkinPie, Cinnamon Cider, Pale Papaya, and Old Olive.

By Su Mohr for TGIF; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for instructions! Featuring: Pretty Pumpkins Bundle, Cork Specialty Paper, Scalloped Contours Dies, Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder; #prettypumpkins #pumpkins #pumpkinsoncards #thanksgivingcards #cork #scallopedcontours #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #stampinup #stamping

Pretty Pumpkins

After coloring, I used one of the Detailed Pumpkins Dies for cutting, and placed it on Dimensionals. You’ll want to see the entire die set in my Product List below; it’s fabulous!

The pumpkins are sitting on a mat made of Cork Specialty Paper, cut with a Scalloped Contours Die, and layered for thickness. A tiny hole was begging for Linen Thread, so I tied a bow, just for fun.

The background has a Cinnamon Cider card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. This is layered with Pansy Petals Designer Paper in Pale Papaya, gingham, cut with a Scalloped Contours Die. The top layer, Basic White Cardstock, was also cut with a Scalloped Contours Die, and embossed with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder.

Prior to embossing the top layer, I stamped “gather together,” from the Pretty Pumpkins Stamp Set, in Cinnamon Cider Ink. I like to send Thanksgiving cards to my family, so this one is ready to go, ahead of time.

A project using products from the July-December 2021 Mini Catalog fits with this week’s TGIF challenge.

Quiet Meadow in Rainbow Colors

I love rainbow colors on cards, and it was really fun using the Quiet Meadow Bundle this way.

By Su Mohr for Fusion; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for instructions; Featuring: Quiet Meadow Stamp Set, Meadow Dies, Stampin' Blends, Bark Embossing Folder, Black & White Gingham Ribbon; #meadowdies #quietmeadow #barkembossing #ginghamribbon #wildflowers #flowersoncards #cardsketches #rainbows #rainbowsoncards #cardinstructions #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop

Quiet Meadow Rainbow

Stampin’ Blends work really well for creating rainbows, because they “blend.” I painted horizontal stripes across Basic White Cardstock (3″ X 5″), blending these colors as I went along: Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Just Jade, Bermuda Bay, Night of Navy, and Highland Heather.

After creating my rainbow, I used two Meadow Dies to cut the wildflowers you see on my card. Fun, huh?

I wanted to keep the background white (4″ X 5 1/4″), but added texture with the Bark Embossing Folder. This layer was glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

The sentiment, “You’re too kind,” is from the Quiet Meadow Stamp Set, stamped in Stazon Ink, and cut with a Meadow Die. I threaded Black & White Gingham Ribbon (4″) through the holes, and flagged the ends. Then, I attached the label with Dimensionals, and my rainbow colored, Quiet Meadow, was complete.

I was inspired by Fusion.

Christmas Trimmings Stars

I realized when I finished today’s card, no ink was used; just lots of pretty die-cuts. And, it’s clearly a Christmas card, but in non-traditional colors.

By Su Mohr for FMS; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Christmas Trimmings Dies, Stitched Leaves Dies, Word Wishes Dies, Stitched Triangles Dies, Tidings Of Christmas Designer Paper, Rainbow Glimmer Paper; #christmascards #holiday2021 #holidaycards #cardsketches #christmastidings #tidingsofcheistmas #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #stampinup

Christmas Stars

You can see how I used the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches for my layout. I know it says “any shape,” but the Stitched Triangles Dies were perfect for this design.

I began with a Soft Succulent card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Then, I used a Stitched Triangles Die to cut two triangles of Tidings Of Christmas Designer Paper in a Soft Succulent Pattern.

Next, I used the unusual,  Stitched Leaves Die, to emboss a Basic White layer, 4″ X 5 1/4″. It was placed on a diagonal to match the shape formed by the triangles.

Now, for the stars (shown in the first picture). I used two dies from the Christmas Trimmings Die Set to cut one large star, and three smaller stars from Rainbow Glimmer Paper. Aren’t they pretty?

The last step was the sentiment, “Merry Christmas,” from the Word Wishes Die Set. I cut the words from Gorgeous Grape Cardstock, and glued them in place, being careful not to lose the “i”.

Beauty Of Friendship Masculine Card

The Beauty Of Friendship Bundle is perfect for making masculine cards; the trees, the colors and the sentiments. Just add a little cork, and your clean & simple card is easy to create.

By Su Mohr for PP; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Beauty Of Friendship Stamp Set, Beautiful Trees Dies, Cork Specialty Paper, Timber Embossing Folder, Beauty Of The Earth Designer Paper; #masculinecards #cleanandsimple #quick&easy #cork #beautifultrees #beautyoftheearth #beautyoffriendship #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #stamping #stampinup

Cork Tree

The first thing I did was cut the tree, using a Beautiful Trees Die, from the Cork Specialty Paper. I love the look and feel of this paper! It makes wonderful bark!

Next, using an Ornate Layers Die (4″ X 1″), I cut the grove of trees from the Beauty Of The Earth Designer Paper.

The grove fit nicely on the Basic White Cardstock background, 4″ X 5 1/4″, glued to a card base of Mossy Meadow Cardstock, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Prior to gluing, I embossed the white layer with the Timber Embossing Folder, for some added texture.

“Thinking of you” is from the Beauty Of Friendship Stamp Set, stamped in Mossy Meadow Ink, and cut with a Beautiful Trees Die. My clean & simple card was also quick & easy!

I was inspired by the Paper Players.

Giving Gifts Santa Ornament for GDP 305

This week’s Global Design Project is a color challenge, and I decided to use the soft colors (Balmy Blue, Pear Pizzazz, and Petal Pink) for a Christmas card.

By Su Mohr for GDP 305; Featuring: Giving Gifts Dies, Christmas Pinecone Dies, Layering Circles Dies, Organdy Stripe Ribbon, Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set; #christmascards #holidaycards #holiday2021 #christmaspinecone #giftgiving #poinsettiapetals #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #ornaments #santa #treeornaments #christmasornaments #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #stampinup #stamping

Santa Ornament

I began by using the largest Layering Circles Die to cut a circle of Thick Basic White Cardstock. Using a Blending Brush and Balmy Blue Ink, I created a smooth surface for my ornament.

Next, I used a Giving Gifts Die to cut Santa and his reindeer from Thick basic White Cardstock, and snipped them free from the rectangle included in the die-cut. They fit perfectly across the widest part of the circle.

The background is a beautiful layer of Pear Pizzazz greenery, cut with a large Christmas Pinecone Die, from Subtles 6″ X 6″ Designer Paper, I glued this to the Thick Basic White card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″) with tiny dots of Liquid Glue.

The sentiment, “Happy Holidays,” is from the Poinsettia Petals Stamp Set, stamped in Pear Pizzazz Ink, and cut with an Ornate Frames Die.

I hung my Santa ornament with gorgeous, Petal Pink, Organdy Striped Ribbon.

Now, it’s your turn to use this beautiful color combo, and hang your card in our gallery.

The FREE Summer Shadows Die Set

How often can you earn a FREE die set? Not too often! But, Summer Shadows is available during Sale-a-bration with a qualifying $100 purchase. I used one of the dies on today’s card, and you can see the entire set in my Products List below. It’s pictured next to its coordinating stamp set, Shaded Summer, which I also used on today’s card.

By Su Mohr for TGIF; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Summer Shadows Dies, Shaded Summer Stamp Set, Time Worn Embossing Folder, Ornate Laters Dies, Ornate Frames Dies, Layering Circles Dies, Stamparatus, Stampin' Write Markers; #shadedsummer #summershadows #layeringcircles #flowers #flowersoncards #timewornembossing #card sketches #cardchallenges #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #stamping #stampinup #friendshipcards

Summer Shadows

I had such fun coloring a pumpkin on Friday’s card, I decided to use the same “ink to stamp” technique with the Shaded Summer Stamp Set. I placed the large, floral stamp on the Stamparatus platform, on top of Basic White Cardstock. The paper is held down by magnets, so it doesn’t move. Then, I lowered the lid of the Stamparatus, picked up the stamp, inked a small section of the stamp with a Stampin’ Write Marker, and lowered the lid to the paper. I added one color at a time, and repeated the process until I was satisfied with the amount of color.

I used Petal Pink, Flirty Flamingo, and Mango Melody Stampin’ Write Markers for the flowers. These come in color collections, or you can go “hog wild” and get all 40 colors in a nice case! And, I used Old Olive Stampin’ Blends for the stems and leaves.

After coloring, I used the die, shown in the first picture, for cutting.

Next, I used two Layering Circles Dies to cut Thick Basic White Cardstock, making a platform for my flowers. I glued just the small portions that touched the circle, and covered the back with Dimensionals for support.

The background is a 4″ X 4″ square of basic White Cardstock, embossed with the Timeworn Embossing Folder. You can barely make out a few of the words, and isn’t it great? Prior to embossing, I added a detailed edge using an Ornate Layers Die. You know how I love this die!

Beneath the white layer is a stripe from Pattern Party Designer Paper, 4″ X 5 1/4″. The card base is Thick Basic White Cardstock, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

The sentiment, “to a sweet friend,” is from the Sweet As A Peach Stamp Set, stamped in Old Olive Ink, and cut with an Ornate Frames Die. I used Thick Basic White Cardstock, so the fancy ends would be sturdy, and attached it with Dimensionals on each end.

I was inspired by TGIF.
