There is no doubt about it, tennis is my favorite sport; to play and to watch.
Tennis ACE
Today’s project was inspired by this week’s Paper Player’s challenge.
I began with Elizabeth’s idea of a ball in the sky, and I found a good tennis ball in the Swirly Frames stamp set. Stamping the circle in Lemon Lime Twist ink on Whisper White cardstock, gave me the outline. Then, using a Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blend, I filled in the color, and used a Layering Circles die for cutting.
The cloudy sky was made by a technique I described in a recent blog post.

I added a “swoosh” from the Star of Light stamp set, stamped in Balmy Blue ink. This is what it’s like when you toss the ball in the air while serving. Now, what would the sentiment be?
In tennis scoring, it’s called an “ace” when you serve the ball to your opponent, and he is unable to make contact with it. So, I used the Large Letters Alphabet dies to cut the word, “ACE” in the sky. I layered the letters for thickness, and glued them back in their holes. This is what is now named, the “eclipse” technique.
To have my card ready to send, I decorated the envelope flap with a piece of 6X6″ Subtles Designer Series Paper.

Thanks for checking out my favorite sport. My aces are far and few between, but it’s a great feeling when it happens. My father-in-law always says “ace a few,” so this card really makes me smile.

Today’s project began with the colors at this week’s Fab Friday challenge.
I really wanted to make a Christmas card, as I stared at the Detailed Deer dies. But, this developed into a wedding card, as you can see.
Laser-Cut Paper Wedding Card
I started thinking of how I could use the Detailed Deer dies with the Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut paper. The Laser-Cut paper is so much fun to use as a stencil! I chose this vine pattern, and began applying Tranquil Tide ink with a Sponge Dauber.
After daubing, I trimmed the edges, and backed it with Balmy Blue cardstock.
TIP: Measuring is a bit tricky, because it will vary according to how you trim the Laser-Cut piece.
The top corners and five flowers were made with dies from the Detailed Deer die set. Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape inks were used for the flower colors, sponge daubed on Whisper White cardstock, before cutting. At this point, I knew it would not be a Christmas card; wedding was written all over it.
I topped the flowers with Share What You Love Artisan Pearls, which we’ll call Powder Pink.
The sentiment, “On your wedding day,” is from the Best Birds stamp set. I used the Classic Label Punch for cutting, and popped it up on dimensionals.
The last detail was adding the Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon bow. I thought it was appropriate for the sentiment to be partly “veiled” by the ribbon.

A Christmas card is probably not what you would expect to see from the Waterfront stamp set. But, I have Christmas on the brain, and Waterfront has this cute, little pine tree.
Waterfront Pines
Here’s a picture of the complete Waterfront stamp set that’s being featured on the What Will You Stamp challenge this week. Click on the picture to go to the site to see how you can participate.
The first thing I did was stamp the pine tree in three shades of green ink (Mossy Meadow, Shaded Spruce, Old Olive) across Very Vanilla cardstock. Next, I used a Stitched Shapes oval die to cut a “spotlight” out of the trees, and triple-layered this to make it stand out. This made a perfect place for my stamped (soft suede ink), and die cut, deer from the Dashing Deer Bundle.
Next, I stamped “Merry” from the Merry Christmas To All stamp set in Mossy Meadow ink. Then, I ran the art piece, minus the oval, through the Big Shot using the Softly Falling embossing folder. Once embossed, I layered it on Mossy Meadow cardstock, on a Thick Very Vanilla card base.
How do you like the plaid “Christmas?” I used a die from the Merry Christmas die set to cut the word from Festive Farmhouse Designer Series Paper. I backed it with a second layer, so it would lay nicely on the snow.
TIP: If you want to dot the “i,” watch for it when you are die cutting. I had to dig the red, plaid dot out of the trash.

This card may look a little strange to you, because the Christmas bulbs are pastel colors. Please humor me while I indulge in fond, childhood, memories. My Christmas trees were always strung with the most beautiful, pastel, Christmas bulbs. Antique would be a good word to describe these glorious bulbs, and they lasted until their electrical cord frayed beyond repair.
Pastel Christmas Bulbs
As soon as I saw Stampin’ Up’s Christmas Bulb Builder Punch, I knew I’d be attempting a design with pastel Christmas bulbs. I stamped the bulb from the Making Everything Bright stamp set on Whisper White card stock. All of the bulb colors are listed below in my Product List, and the sockets are Sahara Sand.
Their cord is made with a Playful Pennants die and Sahara Sand cardstock. I glued the bulbs onto the sockets, glued the sockets to their electrical cord (the pennant), and attached dimensionals on the back.
Now, for the background. I stamped two pine boughs from the Christmas Pines stamp set in Garden Green on Sahara Sand cardstock. I used the Stamparatus, and glad I did, because the first stamping didn’t produce enough color. For added texture, I embossed this with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder, and layered it on a Garden Green card base.
The sentiment is from the Star of Light stamp set. “A little Christmas spirit brightens all the world” is stamped in Garden Green, and cut with a Merry Christmas label die. And, finally, I added two Santa’s Workshop, green, Enamel Shapes.
This card will go to my brother, because I know he’ll appreciate the memory. I’m sure we discussed which color we liked best, deciding on new favorites as Christmas approached.

Who doesn’t like free stuff? This pack of Dashing Along Designer Series Paper was “free” with my last order. Since my September order of Stampin’ Up products was the qualifying amount of $250, the exclusive, Dashing Along Paper was included! Four of the patterns are pictured in today’s project.

I love the traditional red and green colors for Christmas cards. And, now I understand why the paper is named Dashing Along; because the patterns coordinate with the Dashing Deer Bundle!

Pals September 2018 Blog Hop-Holidays & Seasons
Today’s tapestry, flying deer is cut with a Detailed Deer die from a piece of Cherry Cobbler Dashing Along DSP. I backed him with cardstock, so the tips of his antlers and hind legs would be sturdy. Then, I layered him on a Whisper White circle, cut with a Stitched Shapes die, and added dimensionals under the circle. The third die I used is from Bunch of Banners, for “Merry Christmas” from the Star of Light stamp set.
The fun mix of patterns reminds me of the once popular “twin prints.” I still find the look appealing, so I went with it today for the TGIF challenge. And, I thought it was a good way to let you see the Dashing Along DSP.
The card base is Garden Green, layered with a Dashing Along, floral, red & green print. The two vertical strips, also from Dashing Along, approximate the sketch. The card is photographed on a fun, green and white, Dashing Along, newsprint.

My idea for today’s project began with the Winter Woods stamp set. It has an artistic row of tree trunks that “would” be perfect for this week’s challenge at CAS(E) this sketch.

See what I mean?
Say the word, “wood,” and it says “masculine” to me, so this “would” be a birthday card for a man. I stamped the row of trees with Gray Granite ink on Gray Granite cardstock. The stamp has three trees, so I stamped several times across the 3″X 2″ piece of cardstock.
The corners needed to be round, like the sketch, and our Detailed Trio Punch worked perfectly. I layered my row of trees on a piece of Galvanized Metallic Paper. It doesn’t show in the photo, but it has a wonderful sheen.
I tied some Braided Linen Trim around one side, frayed the ends, and added dimensionals to the back.
Next, I chose a beautiful piece of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper to blend with the Gray Granite card base, and glued the two together.
For the details, I used four dies from three different die sets. The pinecones, stamped in Soft Suede ink on Gray Granite cardstock, are from Winter Woods. The leaf branch, die cut from Galvanized Metallic Paper, is also from Winter Woods. The berry branch, cut from Balckberry Bliss cardstock, is from Frosted Bouquet. And, “Happy Birthday” (Picture Perfect Birthday) is cut with a label die from Merry Christmas.
