Welcome to the Remarkable InkBig April Blog Hop. This month our theme is Bon Voyage Retiring In-Colors! You may just be starting the blog hop here at my blog – Su Mohr at Aromas and Art, or may have come from the person previous to me on the list. Normally there are five “in colors” that retire. This year, Flirty Flamingo will be in the new catalog as a member of the Brights Collection. I’m paying homage to the four retiring colors: Dapper Denim, Sweet Sugarplum, Emerald Envy, and Peekaboo Peach.
Happy Retirement
Even though I’m celebrating the retiring “in colors,” the highlight of this card for me is the silhouetted girl. She is from the new stamp set, Enjoy Life, which instantly caught my eye. I love working with silhouettes, remembering how much I used the silhouette of the Little Drummer Boy from the Holiday catalog.
I stamped the backward girl in Dapper Denim on Thick Whisper White cardstock, and yes, I fussy cut her. It was also necessary to place a bunch of tiny pieces of dimensionals on her to give her strength.
She’s doing a fine job of holding the balloons. I made the balloons using the Balloon Bouquet Punch and dotted Designer Series Paper. It took some planning and “do-overs” to make her hold the balloon strings correctly. But, we did it!
The Enjoy Life stamp set also provided the grass, which and I stamped in Emerald Envy to match the card base. Our silhouetted girl is standing on the sentiment, “Happy Retirement,” from the retiring, Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set. Fortunately, there’s a new stamp set, Itty Bitty Greetings, to replace it. It has 32 greetings, new fonts, new sentiments, so I’m happy. The Bunch of Banners Die I used for cutting is carrying over to the new catalog. Yay!

Animal Outing Baby Rhino Debut and Color Revamp
The last detail for today’s card was embossing the envelope flap with the Oh My Stars Embossing Folder. Not only is it not retiring, there are 25 Embossing Folders in the new catalog, Yippee!

Wow! I am crazy about this new Designer Specialty Paper, named Share What You Love. The hand painted designs are gorgeous, and four of them have a translucent, pearlized finish. There are 24, 12X12″ heavyweight, double-sided sheets in a pack, 4 each, so there’s enough to share. I used the reverse side of today’s design in my Nature’s Poem card I posted a few days ago.

Share What You Love Anniversary Card
I layered the DSP on Rich Razzleberry cardstock to bring out the color in the flowers. And, I chose a Crumb Cake card base to match the background in the paper. This week’s challenge at the Global Design Project provided the inspiration for my lay-out.
Stampin’ Up’s Lots of Label Dies has the exact shape in the sketch, so I HAD to use it. This die set is retiring May 31st, so order it while you can. The larger label was die cut from the print I used for photographing. Do you see, it’s also the one I used in my Nature’s Poem card?
The sentiment, “Happy Anniversary,” and the three, little flowers on the label, are from the Beautiful Bouquet Stamp Set. I used Rich Razzleberry Ink for stamping, and a die for cutting. Before adhering the layers and labels to the card base, I tied ribbon around the layers. What do you think of our new Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon? I think it looks fabulous! Plus, it’s stretchy, and easy to work with.
After popping up the label and flowers on dimensionals, I added pearls to the centers of the flowers. A little embellishment goes a long way. Right?
While completing the card, I realized it fit perfectly with the Tic Tac Toe challenge row: neutral-ribbon-patterned paper. The neutral color Crumb Cake is the card base, the ribbon is the Polka Dot Tulle, and the printed paper is the fabulous Share What You Love DSP.
I can’t stop looking at this card, thinking how pretty it is. I’m not taking credit; the fabulous DSP and ribbon make it what it is.

A brand new paper was introduced at OnStage, Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper, and I couldn’t wait to try it. The sheets are vanilla on one side, and white on the other. I chose vanilla to go with the Very Vanilla card base for this project.
Magical Mermaid
The laser-cut sheet shows off beautifully against a layer of Tranquil Tide cardstock.
TIP: Use pin dots of Tombow glue to adhere the laser-cut paper.
I was happy to find out that the Magical Mermaid Stamp Set is carrying over to the new catalog. She is featured on one of my favorite cards that I created nearly a year ago.
Pals June Blog Hop
Today’s card was inspired by the fun theme challenge “Magical,” at Paper Players. This theme is great for children, because of their imaginations. But, adults like magical too!
I used a sheet of the new Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper for stamping the mermaid. The DSP is in the new color, Soft Seafoam, so her Tranquil Tide Ink lines show up nicely.
The mermaid isn’t difficult to fussy cut (hand cut with scissors). The sentiment, “Have a Magical Birthday” is in the Magical Mermaid Stamp Set, and I used a Layering Circles Die for cutting.
For some 3D action, I placed the mermaid on dimensionals.
Most people wouldn’t guess that this is a “quick and easy” card to make. The Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper does the work for you. Just take care with the gluing.

The falling leaves in the Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper provided the perfect feeling for this sympathy card.
Nature’s Poem Sympathy Card
The Lovely As A Tree Stamp Set is carrying over to the new catalog, but Stampin’ Up has given us more trees and leaves by adding the Nature’s Poem Suite. I was excited to receive the suite in my pre-order, and share my first project featuring the finely detailed leaves.
I began with a card base in the “in color,” Fresh Fig. This was a nice background for the sheet of Nature’s Poem Designer Series Paper in Rich Razzleberry and Petal Pink. I stamped leaves from the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set in Rich Razzleberry and Powder Pink Ink, and used the die from Nature’s Roots for cutting the leaves. I layered the DSP on cardstock, so it would be sturdy for raising on Adhesive Strips.
I used this week’s TGIF sketch for the lay-out. The five die cut leaves are placed like the circles in the sketch.
The sentiment, “words are never enough, is from the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set. I used the Petals & More die for cutting. I love the new twine that I tied around the top layer. It comes in four gorgeous colors in one pack. I untwisted the ends for a “leafy” look.
This new Triple Punch made it easy to round two of the corners for extra pizzazz.
Don’t you think these leaves are gorgeous? I can’t wait to see what everyone does with this suite!

A wonderful new suite from Stampin’ Up was named Nature’s Poem. It has trees and leaves, and a die set to match. Luckily, it was offered in the pre-order, so I’ve already had a chance to play with it.
This is the perfect suite for making masculine cards, and I was excited to create my first card.
Nature’s Poem-new from the 2018-2019 catalog
If you’ve been following my blog, you know I enjoy participating in challenges. Tic Tac Toe is one that gives me great inspiration. When I saw that “trees” was one of the squares, I knew I would commit to a row including “trees.” I decided to go diagonally with trees-kraft-square.
I inked up the large tree from the Rooted in Nature Stamp Set in Early Espresso Ink, and stamped it on Kraft Paper. I used its die from the Nature’s Roots Die Set for cutting.
TIP: To get a good print, I pressed the Kraft paper on top of the inked stamp, rather than the other way around.
I used the Layering Squares Dies to cut the square frame; one from Kraft paper, and one from Champagne Foil. After gluing the two together, I glued the edges of the tree to the frame.
I raised my framed tree on Adhesive Strips for interest. For a touch more Kraft Paper, I used a retired die from the Greetings set, and cut out the word, “thanks.”
I decided on a Crumb Cake card base with a layer of Share What You Love Specialty Paper for the background of my tree. This pack of paper is special, indeed. It’s heavyweight paper, 4 designs have a pearlized finish, 24 sheets of gorgeousness!
To add some more shine to my card, I cut a strip of Champagne Foil, and embossed it with some leaves from the Nature’s Roots Die Set. There are several leaves in the set for this purpose. Fun! Doesn’t it look pretty?
I see great potential with this suite, and believe it will grow (pun intended) to be a favorite. And, don’t worry, Lovely As A Tree is still in the new catalog.
