Two of my favorite things to use in crafting are embossing folders and die cut words. It was a delightful surprise to have Stampin’ Up offer the Celebrate You die set with three fabulous words: celebrate, amazing, and you. Since it’s during Sale-A-Bration, you can get the set FREE with a qualifying $100 order. Not only that, but Stampin’ Up! announced the Celebrate You die set will carry over into the new 2018-2019 annual catalog.
Amazing You
For today’s card, I selected the neutral color, Crumb Cake for the card base, and combined it with Champagne Foil to make the words and embossing stand out. I die cut several “YOUs” from Crumb Cake cardstock, and glued them together for dimension. I used Champagne Foil for die cutting “amazing,” and I think the font is amazing.
Champagne Foil was also used for the outstanding embossed floral piece. This embossing folder, Petal Pair, is on page 23 of the Occasions catalog. It’s named “Pair,” because there’s a second embossing folder in the set, which I used for embossing the envelope flap.
The “are simply,” stamped in Chocolate Chip ink, is from the coordinating Sale-A-Bration stamp set, Amazing You.
The two sets, Amazing You and Celebrate You, are my favorites from Sale-A-Bration, because they are so versatile. Here are three other projects I’ve recently made using these sets.

I need to start making Easter cards, and the Hold on to Hope stamp set is perfect for just that! I shall start with an old, wooden cross.
God is Love
I used a die from the Cross of Hope die set to cut the cross from Wood Textures Designer Series Paper. I cut several more crosses from cardstock, gluing them together for thickness, so it would look like a real piece of wood. Don’t you think it does? This still gives me a thrill!
Deciding on the layout was easy, because I looked at this week’s Paper Player’s challenge, and my wooden cross would fit perfectly on the top layer of the sketch.
There’s a pretty, floral branch in the Hold on to Hope stamp set that I thought would look good behind the cross. I wanted the branch to be multi-colored, so I tried a technique that I hadn’t used for a while. I chose some Stampin’ Write colors and painted the red rubber stamp before stamping. I really like the way it turned out, and I’ll have to remember to do this more often.
Before gluing down the cross, I stamped “God is Love.” This sentiment is from a retired set, Trust God. It was among the first things I ordered when I became a demonstrator 2 1/2 years ago. You could use other words, but I liked the way this curved like the branch. I know some of you hold on to everything, and you will have it.
My top layer was complete, and I layered it on Crumb Cake cardstock to match the card base. I topped the card base with a layer of Whisper White cardstock, embossed with the Layered Leaves embossing folder. For the center band in the sketch, I embossed Whisper White cardstock with a Petal Pair embossing folder. I just thought it would look pretty, and add texture, but it turned into more than that. Doesn’t it look like a crown of thorns?
I decorated the envelope flap with Sweet Sugarplum DSP, matching some of the flowers.
I wanted to complete the inside of this Easter card, and chose “May peace be your gift this Easter.” It’s also from a retired, but more recent stamp set, Suite Sentiments. And, a Sweet Sugarplum butterfly from Hold on to Hope came fluttering by.

Here I go again with a masculine birthday card. These guys just keep having birthdays!
True Gentleman Birthday Card
I was so happy to see Stampin’ Up! come out with this great masculine Designer Series Paper, True Gentleman. It’s not to say, plaids aren’t great for women also. In fact, I was cutting ovals from this plaid a few days ago for a female project. You may recall this:

But, this card would be for a man, and I gave him 21 candles, cut with a Celebration Die. This cute, little, die cuts three candles that are attached together. I used Night of Navy, Tranquil Tide and Crushed Curry cardstock, the colors that are in the plaid.
The oval I used for this project (Lovely Words Die Set) comes with the word “friend” attached. After gluing the plaid DSP to a layer of Tranquil Tide cardstock, I used the die to cut my “oval friend.” Then, I snipped the plaid “friend” to reveal the Tranquil Tide “friend.” This was layered on a Very Vanilla card base, the other color in the plaid.
I used “Happy Birthday” from the Lemon Zest stamp set, and cut it with the Petals & More label die. I popped this up on dimensionals, and placed Crushed Curry Enamel Shape stars on the ends.
The inside (sorry, I forgot to take a photo) says “Time to Celebrate!” It’s from the Celebration Time stamp set, page 81 of the annual catalog, if you want to look it up. I stamped it in Tranquil Tide, and added the doodad in the stamp set in Crushed Curry.
I decorated the envelope with a coordinating stripe from the True Gentleman DSP. And, I used another sheet of the DSP beneath my project for photographing. I hope my friend enjoys his birthday card. For accuracy, he should have a few more candles. But, who’s counting? Right?

May we all have “epic” celebrations! Young people have a way of expanding vocabulary by adding informal meaning to words, keeping our speech lively and fun. Amazingly enough, Stampin’ Up keeps up with the trends, and added the Epic Celebrations stamp set to our Sale-A-Bration selection. I wanted to design a birthday card using a sentiment in the set, “Here’s to an EPIC Celebration.”

I embossed the Whisper White card base with the Hexagons embossing folder, adding to the contemporary feel.
Prior to embossing the card base, I stamped the “burst” from the Amazing You stamp set in Lemon Lime Twist ink. I used the same ink to stamp “Here’s to an EPIC Celebration,” and a Stitched Shape Circle die for cutting. I popped the circle up on dimensionals, and the front of my card was complete.
I like how the reverse side of the embossing folder decorates the inside of the card. “Happy Birthday” is from the Birthday Wit stamp set, and stamped in Pacific Point Ink.
I decorated the envelope flap with a coordinating piece of Birthday Memories DSP.
The layout of today’s birthday card was inspired by CAS(E) this Sketch.
I’ll stick with saying “hi” most of the time, but an occasional “hey” will be good for my youthful soul.

It’s been cold in San Diego, and our trees are as bare as they’re ever going to be. So, this made me think of Stampin’ Up’s Lovely As A Tree stamp set, and the beautifully illustrated row of deciduous trees. Stamp sets come, and stamp sets go, but I hear this set has been around a very long time. Would it be possible to come up with a unique design? I had this brainstorm to combine it with Wood Textures Designer Series Paper and a Leaflet die.

I just ordered my second pack of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper. It lasts a long time, but it’s a favorite of mine, and I’m down to my last few pieces. I found the two I wanted for this project, and used my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut them the same size, 5 1/4″ X 4″.
I glued the tree ring piece to Thick Very Vanilla cardstock (cut the same size), because I needed it to be sturdy when placing on Adhesive Strips. Then, I cut the leaf from the middle using a Leaflets Die.
Next, I stamped the row of trees in Basic Black ink in the middle of the smooth wood. Then, I raised the leaf cut piece on top of Adhesive Strips, and glued the two layers to a Basic Black card base (5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″).
Pretty simple, when you have the right tools. I was playing around with the sunlight in this photo.
I usually have a sentiment on the front of my cards, but this one needed to be left alone. I haven’t finished the inside either, but I know it will be completed for the perfect occasion someday.

This is an exciting day for me in my craft room! I was honored to be chosen as a guest designer for the Tic Tac Toe Challenge. This challenge involves designing a project from nine elements on a Tic Tac Toe board, selecting just three in a row, going in any direction. In my excitement, I got carried away, and turned it into Blackout Bingo by using every square!

After looking over the board with all of its elements, I began with Wildflower. I used two dies from the Sweet Cake set in the Occasions catalog, cutting three wild roses. I cut the “frame” of the flower from Whisper White cardstock, and the “inside” from printed vellum.
Some of you may remember, this is the vellum that coordinated with Botanical Gardens. I still have some, which brings me to the problem I encounter when using it. And, that is, it’s difficult to hide the adhesive. I solved that problem here, by coloring the dimensionals with my Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend, and then Popped Up my three wild roses. White wild roses have yellow touches. Yay!
My wild roses needed Green Foliage, and the same Sweet Cake die set had perfect greenery to go with them. I cut four of one branch from Always Artichoke cardstock, and three from Pear Pizzazz cardstock.
I thought my wildflowers would enjoy having a trellis for climbing, and used Wood Textures Designer Series Paper and a die from Eclectic Layers for building this structure. For added dimension, I placed it on Adhesive Strips. These give it twice the height of regular dimensionals.
I added a Fancy Border along the bottom with the diamond, cut-out shapes. You must look closely to see them. Sometimes, little pieces are just too cute to throw away. 😉
My little, yellow Butterfly (Hold on to Hope stamp set and Cross of Hope die set) was attracted to the yellow centered wildflowers.
I chose “enjoy” from the Tabs for Everything stamp set. It’s a great set for finding a tiny One-Word Sentiment. I used White Embossing Powder to heat emboss “enjoy” on Wood Textures DSP, and cut it with a die from the At Home die set. I Punched a hole, and tied it to the trellis with White Baker’s Twine.
And, for the ninth square, I’m pretty sure there are some white, fluffy Clouds on this Soft Sky card base. As a final touch, I embossed the envelope flap with a Petal Pair embossing folder.
