Welcome to Kylie Bertucci’s February Blog Highlights. This month’s theme is showcasing the new products in Sale-A-Brations and Occasions 2018 Catalogs. I was in a whimsical mood this morning, so I grabbed the Bird Banter stamp set from the Occasions Catalog.
This fanciful, little bird looks like she has a secret, doesn’t she?

I knew I wanted to say, “A little birdie told me it was your birthday,” which was in the Bird Banter stamp set. I found the banner where she could perch in the Cupcake Cutouts die set. This is a great die, because it has score lines to make it 3-D.
The Tutti-Frutti Designer Series Paper from the Occasions Catalog is brightly patterned paper, perfect for my whimsical theme. I used a Stitched Shape die to cut the oval from the Lemon Lime Twist Kiwi print. My birdie was very happy with this as a background. But, she suggested I add foliage with the Layered Leaves embossing folder to the Whisper White layer.
We both came up with the idea for leaves using the Leaf Punch. The Tutti-Frutti black & white speckled paper was our choice. I punched a few more leaves from Thick Whisper White cardstock, so I could glue them together for thickness.
I colored birdie with Light and Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends, and a Lemon Lime Twist Stampin’ Write. For a bit more color, I added some of those fabulous, self-stick sequins.
I covered the envelope flap in a Tutti-Frutti, Lemon Lime Twist print. And, I photographed the backside of the Kiwi paper (black and white stripe) for you to see.
My inspiration for the sketch design was this week’s Global Design Project challenge. I also added that bit of white Baker’s Twine, because of the sketch.
Tutti-Frutti inspiration was from Mary Fish.

True confession: I am definitely NOT a seamstress. In fact, I find it challenging to sew on a button. But, the challenges I do like involve paper crafting, and I couldn’t help but think of three while making this thank you card.
I just love puns, and wordplay makes me laugh, even if I’ve heard it a million times. So, when I saw sewing was the theme at Paper Players, I started thinking of how I could use the word sew.
I also needed to use a sewing related item.
CAS(E) this sketch challenge provided a design sketch.
And, three of the elements in the Tic Tac Toe challenge, Oval-Plaid-Green, would be part of my design.
I started the project with a piece of plaid, True Gentleman Designer Series Paper. I used a Stitched Shape die to cut an oval an appropriate size for the sketch. Happily, it had Tranquil Tide, a green color I needed for Tic Tac Toe.
Since the background of the plaid was Very Vanilla, I chose that for the card base, which I embossed with the Quilt Top embossing folder.
I wanted some contrast, so I constructed a Wood Texture Designer Series Paper “sewing table” rimmed in Tranquil Tide cardstock.
With the main elements set, I was ready for the words. I cut the word “thanks” from a retired die set, and snipped off the “s.” The plaid “YOU” is from our new Sale-A-Bration die set, Celebrate You. I created “sew much” with the Labeler Alphabet stamp set. I love that this set enables you to say exactly what you want.
Before attaching the “sewing table” and plaid oval, I looped some lace trim beneath them. It seemed (seamed LOL) like a seamstress thing to do.
Now for the sewing related items. I found the scissors in the Crafting Forever stamp set. I stamped it in Tranquil Tide on Very Vanilla cardstock, fussy cut it, and colored the handles with a Bronze Stampin’ Blend. The spool of thread is from the retired Quilt Builder die set. The needle is from the same, retired set, die cut from Silver Foil. The navy thread is from my real sewing drawer, so I know where to find thread the next time I need it. LOL. Doesn’t the needle look real? Except, the eye is much larger, and easier to thread.
The last detail was embossing the envelope flap with the Simple Stripes embossing folder.

Welcome to the Remarkable InkBig Blog Hop for February 2018. This month our theme is “lions, and tigers, and bears, oh my”.

When Cat heard about the upcoming Remarkable Ink Blog Hop, she was very excited, figuring she would be able to participate. No way would she let me even consider using a Panda!
So, here she is, once again, being featured on one of my cards.
The big decision was deciding what fur she would show off for this very special blog hop. She remembered the cover of a book that she found in my collection of Little Golden Books. Remember when they were 39 cents? The Tiny Tawny Kitten was published in 1969, the year my first daughter was born. So, this well loved book provided our inspiration.
I used the brush end of several Stampin’ Blends, painting stripes on Whisper white cardstock, and let it dry a bit. Then, I punched her out with the Cat Punch. You can’t see her pretty, blue eyes, because she is facing backwards.
She wanted to frolic among the daisies, and the Daisy Punch made that request an easy one to accomplish. I used the flower from the Daisy Delight stamp set, and stamped it in Pool Party ink to mimic the ones on the book cover. I stamped and punched, lickety-split! The center discs were stamped in Daffodil Delight ink, cut with the 1/2″ Circle Punch, and glued in place.
The card base is Wild Wasabi, layered with Garden Green that is embossed with a Petal Pair embossing folder. Since this embossing folder is just 2 1/4″ wide, I ran it through the big shot twice. Don’t you think it looks like a garden? After everything was popped up on dimensionals, Cat seemed pleased with the results.
We found the sentiment, “wild about you!” in the A Little Wild stamp set. We thought it was perfect for the blog hop theme of “lions and tigers and bears, oh my!”
But, Cat still wanted to play, and insisted on a game of hide and seek. She found some Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper that was perfect for making this happen.
I used the Stampin’ Trimmer to cut a 4 X 5 1/4″ piece of DSP, and used the Daisy Punch to cut out two daisies. Then I glued this DSP with the two daisy holes to a Garden Green card base.

I used the Daisy Punch to cut more flowers from Whisper White cardstock for layering the two daisies, making them sturdy. Cat was layered also, and I think she did an excellent job of hiding, don’t you? Three, two, one, ready or not, here I come!

Time passes quickly, and it’s been three months since I first played with this Bubble Over Bundle at the Stampin’ Up! OnStage event in Salt lake City. This Bundle was at the top of my list, and I’m still having fun creating with it.
I first stamped the smaller of the two bottles in the Bubble Over stamp set, and the five bubbles, in Daffodil Delight ink. The Bottles & Bubbles die set has the dies for cutting. The five bubbles are on one stamp, and the die cuts them out separately.
Next, I stamped “Your kindness is most refreshing” in Dapper Denim ink, and used the bottle label die from the Bottles & Bubbles die set for cutting.
If you order the stamp set and die set together, they are called a Bundle. And, if you order this way, Stampin’ Up! rewards you with a 10% discount. I’m all about the discount, so I bought the Bundle.
All of this bubble action seemed to call for the Sequin embossing folder, which I used to emboss the Whisper White background. I layered this on top of striped Melon Mambo Designer Series Paper on a Thick Whisper White card base.
I wanted the bottle to stand out (literally), so I placed it on dimensionals on top of a 2″ banner that I cut with the Triple Banner Punch. I embossed the banner for interest, and raised it even higher on Adhesive Strips.
Both embossing folders, the Sequins and the Simple Stripes, are in the Occasions catalog.
I embellished it a bit by adding a bow of Night of Navy Baker’s Twine, which looks like Dapper Denim. Right? And, if you’re wondering, I purposely frayed the ends. I’m a neat freak, so this wasn’t easy. If you see a touch of shine, it’s from the Clear Epoxy Shapes making more bubbles.
Some cards call for a certain sentiment on the inside, so I added, “May your day BUBBLE OVER with happiness” in Dapper Denim ink, along with some stamped bubbles in Daffodil Delight. This lead to completing the envelope flap with dotted Melon Mambo Designer Series paper.
All of this resulted from inspiration I received from two challenges.

Today’s birthday card began with a Kraft Paper card base. The thickness of it, gives it a nice, sturdy feel. And, it’s a great neutral that blends with all colors, like our Stampin’ Up! Crumb Cake color.
The color theme was decided by this week’s Paper Players challenge.
I wanted the Kraft Paper to stand out, so I layered it with Dapper Denim, rather than Real Red, and topped that layer with Whisper White. I used the Pinewood Planks embossing folder to add texture to the Whisper White layer.
Next, I pulled out that fabulous Celebrate You die set, and cut the words “YOU” and “amazing” two times (for layering) from the Kraft paper. I added a touch of Dapper Denim ink to the “YOU.” I stamped “are simply” (Amazing You stamp set) in Dapper Denim ink on Whisper White, and used the Classic Punch for cutting.
The floral element and butterfly are from the Hold on to Hope stamp set, and cut with dies from the Cross of Hope die set. This is in the Occasions catalog, and you save 10% when ordering it as a Bundle. I will be using this set a lot for Spring and Easter cards. This is the first card I made with the Bundle back in December:
Back to this project. I stamped the floral element in Craft with a “c” white ink on Kraft with a “k” paper, and used its die for cutting. And, here comes the Real Red, which I used for stamping the butterfly. Red goes a long way, and it’s great to use for a pop of color. Before layering and gluing everything down, I added a doily to tie it all together.

I also used Real Red as a border for the inside. “Happiest of Birthdays to you” is from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set, and stamped in Crumb Cake ink.
The embossed envelope flap (Pinewood Planks) was the final touch.

Welcome to the Pals Feburary 2018 Blog Hop. Our theme this month is “Case the Catty”. The Stampin’ Pretty Pals will copy or remake projects from any of the current Stampin’ Up! catalogs and brochures. After all, who doesn’t CASE (Copy and Share Everything) once in a while. You may be just starting or hopped over from another Pal. In either case you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.
What’s cuter than one Petal Palette bird? TWO Petal Passion birds from the Memories & More Card Pack. You may recognize my card (Occasions catalog, page 24,) because I cased it exactly. I took “case the catty” to heart!
Petal Passion Memories and More
It looks as though the little birds were hand drawn. They were, originally, but not by me, and I didn’t even stamp these birds. They come like this on one of the cards in the pack, and it’s the only way you can get them. This makes them very special, and one of the reasons I chose this project.
The single bird was the first thing I fell in love with when I was at On Stage in November, and was featured in my projects for the December and January Pals Blog Hops. I know I wasn’t alone, because I’ve seen hundreds of beautiful projects from the Petal Palette Bundle. But, I wanted ALL of the birds!
There is another, very good reason why I have this Memories & More Card Pack. I have said no, no, no to scrapbooking, but I broke down and bought the scrapbook binder and filler pages, You see, my daughter was married in October, and her photos are so pretty, I HAVE to make an album. The Petal Palette collection is so fabulous, I was enticed into using it to compliment her wedding photos.

There are a few differences between my project and the one Stampin’ Up! designed. Theirs was used in a filler page for a photo album, and I made mine into an anniversary card using a Thick Whisper White card base. I trimmed the Powder Pink floral print to size, and die cut two Basic Black branches (Petals & More die set). I tied white Baker’s Twine, as pictured, and glued it all down, popping up the two birds on dimensionals. I added “Happy Anniversary” from the Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set, which I punched with the Classic Label Punch. This has to be one of the fastest cards I’ve made.
