Ranunculus Leaves for Global Design Project 347

Plants and leaves are beautiful on cards, and the theme for this week’s Global Design Project. I chose a favorite leaf from the Ranunculus Die Set. Isn’t it wonderful?

Ranunculus Leaf

To create the colors, I used Blending Brushes, Basic White Cardstock, and six colors of ink: Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay, Fresh Freesia, and Polished Pink. Then, I used the Ranunculus leaf die for cutting.

The background for my rainbow of leaves is a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Prior to attaching the leaves, I gave the card base a simple border, using the largest Stitched With Whimsy die. Three of the leaves were glued, and three were attached with thin strips of Dimensionals.

The sentiment was created with the Charming Sentiments Bundle and heat embossing. First, I stamped “congratulations” in VersaMark on Basic White Cardstock. Second, I sprinkled it with White Embossing Powder, and set it with the Heat Tool. Third, I used its Sentiments Silhouettes Die for cutting. Finally, I attached the sentiment with a thin strip (cut from the edge) of Dimensionals.

For a little sparkle, I added three Glossy Dots in coordinating colors.

Nature’s Prints for Global Design Project 346

Welcome to our first Global Design Project in June, where we have a fun sketch challenge.

The flower I used for this week’s project is from the Nature’s Prints Stamp Set, which I stamped in a rainbow of colors. From top to bottom, the ink colors are: Highland Heather, Coastal Cabana, Mint Macaron, Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, and Calypso Coral.

The splotch beneath the flowers, also a Nature’s Prints stamp, was “stamped-off”  in four of the colors. “Stamped-off” means I stamped on scratch paper, before stamping on my project, to make the color lighter.

Nature’s Prints Rainbow Flowers

After stamping the pretty flower in six colors, I used its Natural Prints Die for cutting.

The background is Basic White Cardstock,  3 1/2″ X 5 1/4″, with a side strip of Perfectly Penciled Designer Paper, 1/2″ X 5 1/4″. These were glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

The sentiment, “Hello there” is from the Nature’s Prints Stamp Set, stamped in Stazon Black Ink on Thick Basic White Cardstock, and cut with a Painted Labels Die. I attached the sentiment with Dimensionals, along with the flowers. However, the stems are glued flat up to the blossoms.

Here is the sketch. Isn’t it inspiring? Please create a card, and hang it in our gallery.

Pretty Bird in Petal Pink for Global Design Project 345

I’ve noticed that the emailed version of my blog has a different appearance. If you click on Aromas And Art (blue letters) in the upper right corner, it will take you to my website with a normal appearance.

This week’s Global Design Project is a color challenge: Petal Pink with two new, In Colors, Starry Sky and Sweet Sorbet.

I began with a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. The next layer is Petal Pink Cardstock, cut with the largest Deckled Rectangles Die, and given texture with the Pretty Flowers Embossing Folder. This embossing folder is my gift for the month of May; see details below.

The top layer was cut with the second largest Deckled Rectangles Die from Basic White Cardstock.

By Su Mohr for GDP 345; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Pretty Birds Bundle, Nature's prints Stamp Set, Amazing Thanks Dies, Deckled Rectangles Dies, Pretty Flowers Embossing Folder, Summer Shadows Dies; #prettybirds #summershadows #naturesprints #amazingthanks #prettyflowers #thankyoucards #handmadecards #handcrafted #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com #gdp345 #stamping #stampinup #birdsoncards

Pretty Bird in Petal Pink

“Thanks” was cut with Amazing Thanks Dies; the bubble from Starry Sky Cardstock, and the word from Thick Basic White Cardstock. After gluing them together, I placed “thanks” on small pieces of Dimensionals. It’s nice that the bubble gives you room to do this.

Before attaching “thanks,” I used a splotch stamp from the Nature’s Prints Stamp Set, to stamp two times in Petal Pink Ink, and two times in “stamped off” Sweet Sorbet Ink. Then, I added some Starry Sky with a Stampin’ Blend, by flicking the brush against the lid. This was done in my laundry room sink, just in case of overspray.

Next, it was time for Pretty Bird to make her appearance, and I stamped her in Petal Pink Ink on Basic White Cardstock, using her Birdhouse Die for cutting. She grabbed some Dimensionals, and perched herself atop the “k.” A perfect spot, don’t you think?

Pretty Bird felt our card was a little plain, and suggested I find some pretty flowers. I thought of using a Summer Shadows Die, because it coordinates with the Pretty Flowers Embossing Folder. Pretty Bird thought the two Basic White Cardstock flowers were exactly what our card needed, and it was time to take pictures.

Wisteria Wishes for Global Design Project 344

For this week’s Global Design Project, we get to CASE Charlet Mallett, and I love her color combination of green and purple. Isn’t her card beautiful?

Since green and purple are perfect colors for wisteria, I wanted to use the Wisteria Wishes Stamp Set.

First, I cut Basic White Cardstock 5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″ and used a Blending Brush to lightly color it with Pear Pizzazz Ink. To continue with Charlet’s idea, I used the largest Scalloped Contours Die for the border.

By Su Mohr for GDP 344; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Wisteria Wishes Stamp Set, Oval Punch, Scalloped Contours Dies; #wisteriawishes #wisteria #flowersoncards #scallopedcontoursdies #blendingbrushes #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com #gdp344 #stamping #stampinup

Wisteria Happiness

Next, I placed this colored cardstock in the Stamparatus, and stamped the leaves and vine in Old Olive Ink. Then, I stamped the hanging flowers in Highland Heather Ink, followed by the darker, Gorgeous Grape Ink. This is called “two-step” stamping, which adds nice dimension, and why the Stamparatus comes in especially handy for placement.

I glued my layer to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

The sentiment, “happiness grows within,” is from the Wisteria Wishes Stamp Set. I stamped it in Old Olive Ink on Basic White cardstock, and used the Double Oval Punch for cutting. I glued this to a scalloped oval that was cut with the same punch, and attached it with Dimensionals.

My card was complete, after adding three, Brushed Brass Butterflies.

Hello Ladybug for Global Design Project 343

This week’s Global Design Project is a fun theme challenge! Beautiful Bugs! It was the perfect opportunity for my favorite ladybug to pay me a visit.

This ladybug is so cute, and easy to make. First, I used the Ladybug Builder Punch to cut her head and body from Basic Black Cardstock. Then, I stamped her wings in Sweet Sorbet Ink on Basic White Cardstock, and used the same punch for cutting. The wings were attached with a tiny bit of glue at the neck, and a Mini Dimensional under each wing.

By Su Mohr for GDP343; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Hello Ladybug Stamp Set, Ladybug Builder Punch, Medium Daisy Punch, Poppy Moments Dies, Gingham Ribbon; #helloladybug #ladybugpunch #bugsoncards #daisies #ladybugs #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com #stamping #stampinup #cardthemes #gdp343

“You can bug me anytime”

The ladybug was ready to munch on green leaves, so I stamped three leaves from the Hello Ladybug Stamp Set in Parakeet Party Ink on Basic White Cardstock. After stamping the leaves, I used Paper Snips for fussy cutting (cutting by hand).

To add to the ladybug’s feast, I used the Medium Daisy Punch to cut six rounds of petals from Basic White Cardstock. Then, I used Mini Dimensionals to attach the rounds of petals, making three flowers. Don’t you love the centers? They were made with a wonderful, Poppy Moments Die from Daffodil Delight Cardstock.

The background is Basic White Cardstock, cut with the second largest Stitched Rectangles Die. I attached this layer, with Dimensionals, to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Prior to attaching the layer, I threaded Gingham Ribbon through the sentiment label (created with a Waves Die), and secured the ends with Glue Dots on the back.

“You can bug me anytime” is from the Hello Ladybug Stamp Set, stamped in Stazon Black Ink.

Hues Of Happiness for Global Design Project 342

This week’s Global Design Project is a fun sketch. Take a look at how our designers used the sketch, then create your design to hang in our gallery.

I began by cutting four strips from the new, Hues Of Happiness Designer Paper, 3/8″ X 5 1/4″. After gluing the strips to Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″, I embossed the layer with the Timeworn Type Embossing Folder.

This was glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Stripes and Flowers

Next, I cut four flowers with leaves from Hues Of Happiness Designer Paper. This fabulous paper has many flowers, and some have dies for cutting, but I cut these with my Paper Snips. One flower is glued flat, and three are attached with Dimensionals.

“Best Wishes” is from the Happiness Abounds Stamp Set, stamped in Stazon Black Ink, and cut with a Stylish Shapes Die. Don’t you love the font?

After attaching the sentiment with Dimensionals, my design was complete.
