Grandson’s Humorous Birthday Card

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!

This month, our blog hop theme is Party Time! We hope you will be inspired by all the beautiful creations the Pals made for you! As you hop from blog to blog, we would love for you to leave a comment. You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

My grandson’s birthday was March 2; a milestone, 18 years! It’s hard to design a card for a young man, but I thought he would appreciate the humor from A Grand Kid Stamp Set.

By Su Mohr; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details; Featuring: Alphabet A La Mode Dies, A Grand Kid Stamp Set, By The Bay DSP, Something Fancy Dies; #bythebay #agrandkid #alphabetdies #somethingfancydies #cardsforgrandchildren #humorouscards #cardsforkids #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #stamping #stampinup #sumohr #birthdaycards

18th Birthday Card

I began with a background of By The Bay Designer Paper, layered on paper from the same pack. The first layer is 4″ X 5 1/4″, and the top layer is 1/8″ smaller, giving it a 1/16″ border. The layers were glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Matching the gold streaks in the designer paper, I used the A La Mode Alphabet Dies to cut “18” from Gold Foil Sheets. To give the numbers dimension, I cut a piece of Foam Adhesive Sheet the same size of the Gold Foil, adhered them together, placed the number dies on top of the Gold Foil, and ran them through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine. Then, I removed the numbers, leaving the backing intact until I was ready to attach them to the card front.

Next, I stamped the sentiments, “to an amazing Grandson,” and “no amount of money could ever show how much I love you…” in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock. After stamping, I used Something Fancy Dies for cutting, and placed them on Dimensionals. I love how the Something Fancy Dies have layering dies, to add a nice border.

To complete the humorous sentiment, I stamped “…but here’s some anyway.” And, I added “Happy Birthday,” also from A Grand Kid Stamp Set. I stamped it in Versamark, sprinkled it with Gold Embossing Powder, and set it with the heat tool.

I went to the extra effort of giving the inside a border to match the front, and decorated the Basic White Envelope flap with another pattern of By The Bay Designer Paper. All of this may go unnoticed by my grandson, but he’s sure to enjoy the money:)

Thank you for visiting. Here we are in 2009; time flies!

More inspiration awaits, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team. The Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Then, please mark your calendars for our next blog hop on April 12th, when our theme will be Flowers in the Garden, showcasing cards/projects with flowers.

Until then, have fun in your craft space.

Irresistible Hello Wreath for Global Design Project 384

For this week’s Global Design Project, we get to CASE (copy and selectively edit) Kim Fee’s beautiful card. See how our designers “cased” Kim, then join in the fun, and add your design to our gallery.

I began with a Thick Basic White card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″), layered with Hello Irresistible Designer Paper (4″ X 5 1/4″). Then, I used the Irresistible Blooms circle die to cut Basic White Cardstock. After snipping it free in six places, making a wreath, I glued it to the card front.

Prior to gluing the wreath, I used an Irresistible Blooms stamp and Memento Black Ink to make a spray of dots.

Hello Wreath

Next, I used Irresistible Bloom Dies to cut two flowers and three sets of leaves from Hello Irresistible Designer Paper. I love when Stampin’ Up! matches dies to the designer paper!

The sentiment is from the Irresistible Blooms Stamp Set, which I heat embossed for a dramatic effect. I stamped “hello” in VersaMark on Basic Black Cardstock, sprinkled it with White Embossing Powder, and set it with the Heat Tool. After using a Harvest Die for cutting, I attached it with Dimensionals.

The final touch was adding several Iridescent Rhinestones.

Punched 2″ Circle

After punching the circle of flowers, I layered it on Basic White Cardstock, cut with a scalloped Layering Circles Die. For the background, I glued a strip of Awash In Beauty Designer Paper (1 1/4″ X 5 1/2″) to Basic White Cardstock (4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″). Then, I cut it down to size with the largest Stitched Rectangles Die, and embossed it with the Timeworn Type Embossing Folder.

After embossing, I glued the layer to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. For added interest, I used a Harvest Die to cut Mossy Meadow Cardstock, and glued it on top of the white embossing.

“Just because,” is from the True Beauty Stamp Set, stamped in Memento Black Ink, and cut with the smallest Stitched Rectangles Die. Don’t you love the font?

The three, pretty, dots are Fine Sparkle Adhesive-Backed Gems.

I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.

Quick & Easy Square Thank You Cards

Today’s card was so “quick & easy,” I decided to make two! And, just a few supplies were required to create this “wow” factor on a square card base. The products are listed below, along with some of the new “online exclusives.” Clicking on my “shop” button will take you to my store to see the entire list.

“thanks” with WOW factor

To make two cards, I began with Thick Basic White Cardstock, 8 1/2″ X 8 1/2″, cut in half at 4 1/4″ and folded at 4 1/4″.

Next, I cut two squares of Dry Brushed Metallic Specialty Paper (one of each color) 4″ X 4″. Then, I placed the Irresistible Blooms, circle die, in the middle of each, and ran them through my Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine. After cutting I glued them to the card bases.

“Thanks” was created with  Amazing Thanks Dies, cutting the words from coordinating colors of Hello Irresistible Designer Paper, and backing with Basic White Cardstock.

The backing adds width to the word, which enables you to raise it on Mini Dimensionals. I also used tiny pieces, cut from the edge of Dimensionals, and thought you’d appreciate a photo.

I was inspired by The Paper Players.

The soft colors in Hello Irresistible Designer Paper is perfect for Easter cards. I chose one of the multi-colored pastel patterns for the card front, and glued it to Basic White Cardstock, 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″. Then, I used the round, Irresistible Die to cut a hole through the designer paper and cardstock.

Easter Wishes

After cutting the hole, I used the largest Stitched Rectangles Die to give the layer a nice, stitched edge. The flower and leaves were cut from another pattern of Hello Irresistible Designer Paper with the coordinating Irresistible Blooms Dies, and attached with Dimensionals.

Prior to gluing, I stamped the sentiment, “Wishing you joy & love this Easter,” in Mint Macaron Ink. This sentiment is from the Rejoice In Him Stamp Set.

For a special touch, I added three, flat pearls. Aren’t they pretty? They are my Host Code Gift this month; see details below.

LAST DAY for Sale-a-bration FREE Gifts !!!

This is the LAST DAY of Sale-a-bration 2023. The FREE gifts are listed below, and if you want anything, it’s “now or never.”

For today’s card I used two of the FREE gift items; Dandy Designs Designer Paper and the Thanks A Bunch Stamp Set. You can see all of them below.

I began with a Granny Apple Green card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, layered with Basic White Cardstock, cut with the largest Scalloped Contours Die.

By Su Mohr for TGIF; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Thanks A Bunch Stamp Set, Dandy Designs DSP, Scalloped Contours Dies, Something Fancy Dies, Spring Blessings Stamp Set; #thanksabunch #dandydesigns #springblessings #scallopedcontoursdies #somethingfancydies #tags #carrots #bunnies #sab2023 #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #thankyoucards #sumohr #stamping #stampinup

Layered Thanks

This was followed with a layer of Dandy Designs Designer Paper (Mango Melody), cut with the second largest Scalloped Contours Die, and Basic White Cardstock, cut with the third largest Scalloped Contours Die. Prior to gluing these layers together, I stamped “thanks,” from the Thanks A Bunch Stamp Set, in Memento Black Ink.

The focal point on top was created with three, Something Fancy Dies. The largest die was used to cut Dandy Designs Designer Paper in a pattern of Granny Apple Green.

The second largest was used to cut Basic White Cardstock, where I stamped “a bunch,” and a bunny in Memento Black Ink. Isn’t the bunny cute? He’s from the Spring Blessings Stamp Set.

The smallest die was used to cut the holes at the top, which could convert this to a tag. I glued the area with the holes together, and raised the rest of the white portion on Dimensionals. Then, I attached the entire “tag” with Dimensionals, on an angle.

To tie the card together, I stamped carrots, from the Thanks A Bunch Stamp Set, in Pumpkin Pie Ink, and the carrot tops in Granny Apple Green Ink. After fussy cutting, I glued them together, and attached the carrots with Dimensionals. This made the bunny very happy.

I was inspired by TGIF.

This is the last day of Sale-a-bration 2023, and FREE gifts with qualifying orders. The Sale-a-bration items are pictured below, as long as supplies last.
