Fragrant Flowers and Fabulous Frames

I knew I had to order the Fragrant Flowers Bundle, when I saw the sample on page 21 of the January-April 2023 Mini Catalog. The flowers looked gorgeous, combined with the dots and gold lettering, and today’s card is a CASE (copy and selectively edit) of the catalog.

I began by heat embossing the flowers with Versamark and White Embossing Powder on Basic White Cardstock, and coloring with Stampin’ Blends in four colors: Flirty Flamingo, Pale Papaya, Old Olive, and Granny Apple Green. I also heat embossed the word “thanks,” in Gold Embossing Powder on Thick Basic White Cardstock. The flowers and sentiment are from the Fragrant Flowers Stamp Set.

Fragrant Flowers and Dots

After heat embossing and coloring, I used Fragrant Flowers Dies for cutting the flowers and sentiment, and placed them on Dimensionals.

The background was created by using the largest Fabulous Frames Die to cut a frame from Pear Pizzazz Cardstock. Then, I cut Basic White Cardstock, with the same die, using the center from the cut this time. To make the dots, I used the Dots & Spots Die to cut Basic White Cardstock, creating a stencil, and applied Pear Pizzazz Ink through the holes with a Sponge Dauber.

The final step was attaching three, Pastel Adhesive Backed Sequins.

I was inspired by The Paper Players.

Brushed Shapes Hearts for Global Design Project 379

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, this week’s Global Design Project is all about “love.” We’d love to see your creations!

You may have overlooked the hearts that are featured on today’s card, but they are part of the Brushed Shapes Die Set in the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog. Ironically, I used them to cut the Dry “Brushed” Metallic Designer Specialty Paper in the 2023 January-April Mini Catalog. Aren’t the hearts modern, and cool?

By Su Mohr for GDP 379; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Dr Brushed metallic DSP, Artistic Dies, Brushed Shapes Dies, Love For You Dies, Burlap Ribbon; #drybrushedmetallicdsp #brushedshapesdies #loveforyoudies #burlapribbon #artisticdies #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #velentines #valentinecards #gdp379 #stamping #stampinup #sumohr #inlaidtechnique

Brushed Shapes

I began my love themed card with a Crumb Cake card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Then I used a Brushed Shapes Die (heart) and an Artistic Die (leaves) to cut Thick Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″. I used “thick,” to create a bit more dimension. After knotting, and attaching the Burlap Ribbon to the back, I glued the white, die-cut paper to the card base. It looked like this:

Next, I replaced the leaves from the die-cut into the space, which is called the “inlaid technique.” Rather than keeping the heart white, I used the heart die to cut Dry Brushed Metallic Specialty Paper, new in the January-April 2023 Mini catalog. I glued the outer portion of the heart flat, and raised the middle on Dimensionals. I also cut two smaller hearts from the same paper, and attached them with Dimensionals.

You can see all of the dies in my Product List below, and clicking on the photos will take you to the details.

“Love” was cut with a Love For You Die from Crumb Cake Cardstock. After gluing “Love” in place, my card was complete, and ready to send for Valentine’s Day.

Dainty Flowers in a Heart

I LOVE using paper words for sentiments on cards, and the So Much Love Die Set has great words that can mix and match. I cut “much” and “love” from Mossy Meadow Cardstock, the same color as the card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

For the top layer, I cut Basic White Cardstock a bit larger than usual, so the Mossy Meadow border would be as narrow as the words, 4 1/8″ X 5 3/8″.

Dainty Flowers Heart

Today’s card actually began by fussy cutting flowers from the Dainty Flowers Designer Paper. This paper has been a Sale-a-bration, favorite item, and you can get yours FREE with a $50.00 order, as long as supplies last.

I’m not sure what possessed me, but I really enjoyed cutting out these delicate flowers.

The flowers are held together by a heart. Since the Country Bouquet Heart Punch is out of stock until some time in April, I wanted you to see a wonderful alternative. This is the heart from the Brushed Shapes Die Set, cut from Thick Basic White Cardstock. You can see all of the fun dies in the set in my Product List below. And, you’ll see a different use of the heart on tomorrow’s blog post.

Before gluing the heart to the card front, I glued the flowers to its back, leaving some free for dimension.

I was inspired by TGIF.

Country Floral Lane Bicycle for Valentine’s Day

The Country Floral Lane Designer Paper has the sweetest pattern of bicycles, and today’s card has one featured on a layered, Valentine’s Day card. The first thing I did was cut a blue bicycle from a row, using a Deckled Rectangles Die to trim it to size.

By Su Mohr; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Country Floral Lane DSP, Love For You Stamp Set, Deckled Rectangles Dies, Sending Dies; #countryflorallane #loveforyou #deckledrectangles #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #bicycles #bicyclesoncards #valentines #stamping #stampinup #sumohr

Bicycle Valentine

Next, I used Deckled Rectangles Dies to cut layers of Basic White Cardstock and Country Floral Lane Designer Paper in a Balmy Blue pattern. The card base is Balmy Blue Cardstock, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. I used the largest and fourth largest Deckled Rectangles Dies to cut Basic White Cardstock, and the second largest and sixth largest to cut the Balmy Blue designer paper.

Once the layers were cut, I alternated colors, beginning with the largest white layer. The white layers were glued flat, and the blue layers were raised on Dimensionals, topped with the bicycle. I love using layering die sets, because no measuring is required, making it very easy to do!

The last step was adding the sentiment, which needed to be narrow. I found “Happy Valentine’s Day” in the Love for You Stamp Set, and stamped it in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock.  A Sending Die was used for cutting, which fit perfectly, and I glued it in place.

Adorable Flying Owl

I began by stamping the flying owl in Early Espresso Ink on Basic White Cardstock, and fussy cutting with Paper Snips. Then, I colored the owl with Stampin’ Blends in three colors: Crumb Cake, Bronze, and Balmy Blue.

For the background, I used a Small Blending Brush and Balmy Blue Ink to color the top of Basic White Cardstock, 4 ” X 5 1/4″. Scratch paper was held over the bottom to make a straight line. The Small Blending Brushes are a new item, along with Blending Brushes Storage, which are in my Product List below.

The clouds were added by using  Waves Dies to cut Basic White Cardstock, and then attached with Dimensionals.

“It’s your day!” is from the Adorable Owls Stamp Set, stamped in Early Espresso Ink. Isn’t that simple?

I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.

Happy “bird” day

I couldn’t resist joining in the fun with The Paper Player’s theme challenge this week; birds. I especially liked the play on words, Happy “bird” day.

In this situation, alphabet lettering comes in handy, because it allows you to say exactly what you need to say. I put the Alphabest Bundle to work by stamping and punching the letters. First, I stamped twelve outlines, and one leaf pattern, in Balmy Blue Ink on Basic White Cardstock. Second, I cut the labels with the Best Label Punch. Third, I stamped h-a-p-p-y-b-i-r-d-d-a-y in Memento Black Ink within the outlines, and placed each letter on two Mini Dimensionals.

“Bird-day” was a tight fit, but by having the letters touch, it helped keep the word straight.

Happy “bird” day

The birds, from the Pretty Birds Stamp Set, were stamped in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock. They were colored with Parakeet Party Ink with a “two-step” stamp from the stamp set, which I lined up with my Stamparatus. Then, I colored their beaks with a Mango Melody Marker, and the branch with a Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend. After coloring, I used the Heart Punch Pack for cutting the birds, and the Balmy Blue, scalloped heart.

For the background, I embossed Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″, with the Into The Clouds Embossing Folder. This was glued to a Balmy Blue card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Before attaching the birds, I glued Old Olive foliage, cut with a Dainty Delight Die. Then, I added three Parakeet Party Dots as a final touch.

Warning: the Alphabest Bundle was recently moved to the “low inventory” list, so don’t delay ordering it.
