Leaves Of Holly and Merry Melody

Today’s card is a CASE of a card I designed in September, which means “copy and share everything,” or “copy and selectively edit.” So, I CASED my self, and there is a link to the original card below.

I wanted to simplify the original by eliminating fussy cutting, and ended up making other changes as well. I began with a Thick Basic White card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″), embossing the card front with the Merry Melody Embossing Folder. If you haven’t heard before, the music is Joy To The World, and very appropriate for Christmas cards.

Leaves Of Holly

Next, I used an Eden Die to cut Boughs Of Holly Designer Paper, 2″ X 5 1/2″. I lined the die up as close to the floral edge as possible when running it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Then, I glued the die-cut piece to the card front.

Now, instead of fussy cutting, I used a Holly Berry Die to cut the label from Basic White Cardstock. I stamped “Christmas Wishes,” from the Leaves Of Holly Stamp Set in Evening Evergreen Ink, and glued the label in place, leaving the leaves free.

The last step was stamping the berries in Real Red Ink, using their die for cutting, and attaching with Dimensionals. I used the Stamparatus for placing the sentiment, as well as insuring the berries were dark red.

Pinecones and Pine Boughs

The Painted Christmas Designer Paper is still a favorite, and pinecones are featured on today’s card, along with some pine boughs. To begin, I used a Decorated Pine Die to cut a bough from Basic White Cardstock.

Decorated with pinecones

Next, I used the smallest Scalloped Contours Die to cut two pieces of Painted Christmas Designer Paper, which I backed with cardstock for thickness. One was glued flat, and one was attached with Dimensionals.

The background is Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″, embossed with a Wintry Embossing Folder, layered on a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

“Christmas Greetings” is from the Decorated with Happiness Stamp Set, stamped in Evening Evergreen, and cut with the same Scalloped Contours Die. I fussy cut the Pinecones from the designer paper, glued them in the corner, and attached the sentiment with Dimensionals.

I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.

Leaves Of Holly for the Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!

This month, the theme is Home for the Holidays, so the design team created a project for the holiday of their choice. We really hope that you will be inspired by all the amazing creations the Pals are sharing with you! As you hop from blog to blog, we would love for you to leave a comment. You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

I love making Christmas cards, and the Leaves of Holly Bundle has become one of my favorites. It has a wonderful label die with sentiments to stamp inside. Today, it is Basic White Cardstock, with “Christmas Wishes” stamped in Mossy Meadow Ink.

The leaves on the label can be left open, or backed with die-cut paper. For today’s card, I used a green portion of the gorgeous, Boughs Of Holly Designer Paper. Do you see the tiny border of green? It was created by cutting a second label in green, and fitting the thin, green, strip, around the white label.

Holly for Christmas

The other leaves and berries were cut from Boughs of Holly Designer Paper, giving a variation in color. And, the overlays add wonderful texture!

The background is Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″, embossed with a Wintry Embossing Folder. It’s a narrower embossing folder, so I ran it though the machine twice to cover the entire card front. This layer was glued to a Mossy Meadow card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, the leaves were raised on Dimensionals, and my Christmas card was complete.

Thank you for visiting, and enjoy the holidays!

Brown Bear’s Open House for Global Design Project 368

This week’s Global Design Project is to CASE Stesha Bloodhart and her fabulous bear card. Won’t you join in the fun, and hang your design in our gallery?

I found my bear on the Happy Forest Friends Designer Paper, and Brown Bear was easy to fussy cut with my Paper Snips.

The background was created with another pattern of Happy Forest Friends Designer Paper, 4″ X 5 1/4″, glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Brown Bear’s Open House

The fun part of my design was combining Happy Forest Designer Paper with the Warm Welcome Bundle. This bundle was introduced  on October 1st at Stampin’ Up’s World Card Making Day event, which will be in the new January-June 2023 Mini Catalog. The great news is, it’s available now!

First, I stamped the door, from the Warm Welcome Stamp Set,  in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock. Then, I used two Warm Welcome Dies for cutting the perimeter of the door and the “opening.” Wanting the panes in the door to be “see through” glass, I used the “paper piecing” technique. This was accomplished by stamping the door a second time on the Happy Forest Friends Designer Paper, and fussy cutting the three panes, which were glued in place.

“Open House” is from the Warm Welcome Stamp Set, stamped in Early Espresso Ink, cut with a Warm Welcome Die. Prior to attaching with Dimensionals, I cut the “hanger,” using a a Warm Welcome Die, from Early Espresso Cardstock.

Framed Florets and Regal Reindeer

I’m having a great time using the new, Framed Florets Dies in my designs, and for today’s card, I combined an oval with the Regal Reindeer Bundle. I intended for the oval to be the focal point, but the Reindeer said he was. I’ll let you decide.

First, I used a Blending Brush to apply Mint Macaron Ink to Basic White Cardstock. Second, I stamped the trees in Mint Macaron Ink on the brushed color, and used a Framed Florets Die for cutting. Third, I used the same oval to cut Mint Macaron Cardstock, and glued the frame portion to the trees. The trees are from the Regal Reindeer Stamp Set.

Reindeer’s Trees

The background is Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 14″, embossed on the top half with a Wintry Embossing Folder. This layer was glued to a Mint Macaron card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

After gluing the trees in place, I cut the “snow” from Thick Basic White Cardstock, using a Regal Reindeer Die, and glued it along the bottom of the layer.

The sentiment and marks in the snow are from the Regal Reindeer Stamp Set. “Peace on Earth” was stamped in Cajun Craze Ink, and the marks in Soft Suede Ink.

Now, for the reindeer, who was cut with a Reindeer Die from Soft Suede Cardstock. He said, since he was the focal point, he wanted to wear a Cajun Craze scarf, knowing there was a perfect little die in his Reindeer Die Set.

I attached his body and head with Dimensionals, glued his hoofs and legs, and left his antlers free. He was pretty proud of his card, and couldn’t wait for me to share it on TGIF!

I was inspired by TGIF.

Framed Florets Birthday Card

I’ve been giving you sneak peeks of the “early release” Fitting Florets Collection, and now it’s available!  See the entire collection in a video below. I used the Framed Florets Stamp Set and Framed Florets Dies for today’s birthday card.

First, I stamped three flowers in Polished Pink Ink on Basic White Cardstock, and used its die for cutting. After cutting, I colored the flowers with a Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Blend, and placed them on Dimensionals.

Second, I stamped leaves in Evening Evergreen Ink on Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″. After stamping, I colored them with a Soft Succulent Stampin’ Blend.

Framed Florets Birthday Card

Next, I stamped “Wishes for a beautiful birthday,” in Evening Evergreen Ink, on the card front. This was followed by spraying tiny dots of Evening Evergreen with the brush end against the lid of my Stampin’ Blend. Then, I glued my layer to an Evening Evergreen card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Finally, I used a second Framed Florets Die to cut the sprig from Basic White Cardstock, and glued it in place. After attaching the flowers, my Fitting Florets birthday card was complete.
