I’m especially excited to share today’s card with you, because it’s an early release from the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog, the Waves of the Ocean Collection, available now! Watch the video below for complete details. You’ll find all of the new collection supplies in my Product List below.
Pelican Birthday Card
Knowing I wanted to design a card with this new collection, I decided to use the Paper Player’s sketch.
This is how I planned to use the sketch with the Stitched Rectangles Dies. The card base is Thick Basic White Cardstock, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.
I used the largest Stitched Rectangles Die to cut the first layer of Waves of the Ocean Designer Paper. The next layer was cut with the third largest Stitched Rectangles Die from another pattern of the Waves of the Ocean DSP. The next layer was cut from Blue Foil from the collection, which I embossed with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder. Beware: embossing foil is so much fun, it can become an addiction.
Once the the first three layers were glued to the card front, I stamped two pelicans, from the Waves of Inspiration Stamp Set, in Night of Navy Ink on Basic White Cardstock. I used a Stitched Rectangles Die for cutting one pelican, and a Waves Die to cut the second pelican. Then, I attached the die-cut pelican, with Dimensionals, to the first pelican on the rectangle, and attached the rectangle with Dimensionals.
I also stamped “Happy Birthday” in Night of Navy Ink, and used the smallest Stitched Rectangles Die for cutting. Then, I backed it with cardstock for sturdiness, and glued it just beneath “irthda.”
The Rhinestone Waves Basic Jewels in the collection are so pretty, I had to add three for a final touch of sparkle. I need to point out that the jewels, designer paper, and foil, are only available during the early release period (March 1- May 2) or as long as supplies last. The stamp set and dies will be in the 2022-2023 Annual Catalog, available May 3, 2022.
Here is a Stampin’ Up! video that shares details of the Waves of the Ocean Collection. Watch and enjoy!

For this week’s Global Design Project, we get to CASE Kim Fee. You can click on her card to see how the other designers cased her beautiful card. Then you can give “caseing” a try!
I began with the idea of yellow flowers, and chose daffodils from the wonderful Daffodil Daydream Bundle.
Easter Daffodils
There are 24 dies in the Daffodil Die Set, so you have to take time to organize. These pictures were used to figure things out, and they were very helpful:
I used the bud in the first photo, and the flower in the second photo, but not the third flower; cutting the parts from Simply Marbleous Designer Paper. This paper is one of the FREE items you can choose with a qualifying $50.00 order.
After cutting the stems and leaves from Beauty Of The Earth Designer Paper, I glued the flower parts together, and the flowers to the stems.
To create the angled square I used a Sponge Dauber with Pear Pizzazz Ink for coloring a Square Vellum Doily. Ink takes longer to dry on Vellum, so give it time.
For the background, I embossed Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″, with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder. This was glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.
Once the flowers, stems, and leaves were glued to the card front, I stamped the sentiment in Memento Black Ink, and used the Message Die for cutting.
“Easter Blessings” is in the Daffodil Daydream Stamp Set, perfect for this springtime flower.
I secured a loop of Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon with Glue Dots, beneath the sentiment, which was attached with Dimensionals.

For today’s card, I used Blending Brushes to color the red rubber stamp from the Calming Camellia Stamp Set.
First, I attached the “Distinktive” stamp to the lid of the Stamparatus. Second, I rubbed the brush on the ink pad, and applied it to the stamp. Third, I lowered the lid onto Basic White Cardstock (3 3/4″ X 5″), held in place by a magnet. This was repeated until I was happy with the saturation of color for all three colors: Polished Pink, Crushed Curry, and Pumpkin Pie. Before cleaning the brushes between colors, and moving the stamp to a new position on the lid, I brushed a touch of color around the stamped image.
Blending Brush Technique
To make the colors pop, I framed my leaves with Basic Black Cardstock, cut 1/8″ larger for a 1/16″ border. This was attached with Dimensionals to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.
I also stamped the fantastic, curlicue from the Calming Camellia Stamp Set in Memento Black Ink.
To add even more black, I used heat embossing for the sentiment. I stamped, “you made my day,” from the Ornate Thanks Stamp Set in VersaMark on Basic Black Cardstock, sprinkled it with White Embossing Powder, and set it with the Heat Tool. Next, I used the Messages Die for cutting, and attached it with Dimensionals.
For a bit of Sparkle I added three, Artistry Blooms Sequins. I love these self-sticking sequins!
I was inspired by TGIF.

Today’s card is featuring two FREE Sale-a-bration items: Island Vibes Stamp Set and Simply Marbleous Designer Paper.
Tropical Thanks
I began with Simply Marbleous Designer Paper, 4 3/4″ X 3 1/2″, stamping the pretty, tropical plant from the Island Vibes Stamp Set, in Garden Green Ink, around the edge. Then, I layered it on Shaded Spruce Cardstock, 1/8″ larger, giving it a 1/16″ border, and attached it to a Pool Party card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.
The final step was using two Amazing Thanks Dies to cut the word “thanks.” The “bubble” was cut from Shaded Spruce Cardstock, and “thanks” was cut from the same designer paper as the background. Once cut, I glued them together, and attached the word to the card front with Dimensionals.

Today’s card uses a fun technique, called “Paper Piecing.” It reminds me of paper dolls, where you cut the clothes to fit the shape of the doll.
Paper Piecing
First, I stamped the VW bus from the Driving By Stamp Set in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock, 2 1/4″ X 2 1/4″. Second, I stamped the VW bus on Pansy Petals Designer Paper, and hand-cut the roof and side of the bus, along the black lines. Prior to gluing the floral pieces to the black inked bus, I colored the frame, wheels and windows with Stampin’ Blends in Ivory, Smoky Slate, and Pool Party.
Next, I stamped “you’ve got style,” also from the Driving by Stamp Set, beneath the bus. Then, I glued the square to Highland Heather Cardstock, cut 1/8″ larger, giving the square a 1/16″ border, and placed it on Dimensionals.
The background is Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″, stamped with two Friendly Hello Stamps in Highland Heather Ink. This layer is glued to a Highland Heather card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.
The Driving By Stamp Set and Friendly Hello Bundle are both FREE during Sale-a-bration, which ends February 28th. There’s a complete list of the Sale-a-bration products below.
I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.
