Paper Piecing

First, I stamped the VW bus from the Driving By Stamp Set in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock, 2 1/4″ X 2 1/4″. Second, I stamped the VW bus on Pansy Petals Designer Paper, and hand-cut the roof and side of the bus, along the black lines. Prior to gluing the floral pieces to the black inked bus, I colored the frame, wheels and windows with Stampin’ Blends in Ivory, Smoky Slate, and Pool Party.

Next, I stamped “you’ve got style,” also from the Driving by Stamp Set, beneath the bus. Then, I glued the square to Highland Heather Cardstock, cut 1/8″ larger, giving the square a 1/16″ border, and placed it on Dimensionals.

The background is Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″, stamped with two Friendly Hello Stamps in Highland Heather Ink. This layer is glued to a Highland Heather card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

The Driving By Stamp Set and Friendly Hello Bundle are both FREE during Sale-a-bration, which ends February 28th. There’s a complete list of the Sale-a-bration products below.

Now, for today’s card, created with the Awesome Otters Stamp Set. If you like cute animals, you will love this set, especially because it’s a FREE Sale-a-bration item. You can see the entire set below, and details about how to make it yours.

The first thing I did was stamp the otter in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock, and fussy cut with my Paper Snips (cut by hand with scissors). Then, I colored him with Stampin’ Blends: Crumb Cake and Pale Papaya, and his fish is Pool Party and Daffodil Delight.

For his water, I used Simply Marbleous Designer Paper, which is also a FREE Sale-a-bration item. You can see all the pretty colors pictured below.

To give the water a wavy texture, I used the Timber Embossing Folder.

The wavy cuts were made with Diorama Dies. The outside curves were made with the second largest and fifth largest dies, and glued to a Balmy Blue card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/2″.

The middle curves were cut with the fifth largest and smallest dies. Then, I backed it with cardstock, attached it with Dimensionals, and glued the otter in place.

Isn’t the sentiment great? I stamped “you are otterly awesome,” in Memento Black Ink, on the “cut-out” from the middle curve. Then, I backed it with cardstock, attached it with Dimensionals, and my clean & simple card was complete.

Dot and Circles “Stepped Up”

For today’s card, I’m sharing the same design of “dots & circles” as Monday’s card, but “stepped up” with die-cuts and embellishment. Here is Monday’s card, in case you missed it, #simplestamping.

I began with the same Basic Black card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, layered with Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 51/4″. Here is the completed card, and you can see it has more dimension and detail. Although, in this case, I may like the #simplestamping version just as well.

“Stepped up” Dandelion

The smaller circles were stamped the same as yesterday, but the three larger circles were stamped on Basic White Cardstock, and cut with a 2 1/8″ Layering Circles Die. They were attached with Dimensionals, and I cut the edge of one circle to be even with the border.

You can refer to yesterday’s card, by clicking on it (above), for the ink colors and stamps I used.

Next, I stamped the dandelion in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock, and used its Dandy Wishes Die for cutting. I also stamped the seeds on a large circle.

“Wishing You All The Best,” from the Garden Wishes Stamp Set, was stamped in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock, cut with a Messages Die, and attached with Dimensionals.

I embellished further with Classic Matte Dots, at the bottom of the dandelion, and Playful Pets Trim, tied around the card base.

Besides being 2-22-22 Tuesday, it’s the Pals Fun Folds February Blog Hop! You’ll find a pictured list at the bottom, so you can to see all of our fun folds designs. I chose to show you a simple, gate fold design, which was the first I learned, and remains a favorite. Since I have the perfect Horizon Dies, why not create an actual gate on my gate fold card?

The supplies I used for today’s card are in my Product List below.

By Su Mohr for Pals Fun Fold Blog Hop; Click aromasandart.com to go to my blog for details! Featuring : New Horizons Designer Paper, Peaceful Moments Stamp Set, On The Horizons Stamp Set, Windmill Fields Dies, Ornate Layers Dies, Floral Gallery Dies, On The Horizon Stamp Set; #onthehorizon #newhorizons funfoldcards #gatefoldcard #peacefulmoments #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #scenesoncards #cardtechniques #sumohr #aromasandart.com #stamping #stampinup

Gate Fold with a gate

To make the card base, you cut 8 1/2″ X 11″ cardstock (I used Evening Evergreen) in half at 4 1/4″. Then, score each end at 2 3/4″, and fold to the middle. That’s it!

Now, all you need to do is decorate. I used the gorgeous, New Horizons Designer Paper, cutting two front pieces at 2 1/2″ X 4″, and the inside at 5 1/4″ X 4″, from two pieces of 6″ X 6″ DSP in the same pattern. With the leftovers, I cut the labels for the sentiments, the clouds, and the grass.

The sentiments are from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set, stamped in Gorgeous Grape Ink. While I was using the ink, I stamped the birds from the On The Horizon Stamp Set. Do you see them on the inside?

“Always Remember” was cut with a Floral Gallery Die, and “Life is better with a friend like you” was cut with an Ornate Layers Die.

The highlight of this card, the fence, was cut from In Good Taste Designer Paper, making it look like wood. After layering the fence for thickness, I glued the grass along the bottom, and tucked the fence behind the top of the blades. Then, I attached the clouds and sentiment with Dimensionals, and my gate fold card, with a gate, was complete.

#simplestamping with Dots & Circles for Global Design Project 331

This week’s Global Design Project is a theme challenge: dots & circles. The Watercolor Shapes Stamp Set came to mind, and I began stamping all shades of yellow on Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″, using the two round stamps.

By Su Mohr for GDP 331; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Watercolor Shapes Stamp Set, Garden Wishes Stamp Set; #simplestamping #watercolorshapes #gardenwishes #circles&dots #gdp331 #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com #stamping #stampinup #cardinstruction #tutorial

Dots & Circles

The larger circles are Pumpkin Pie Daffodil Delight, and Mango Melody, and the smaller circles are Crushed Curry, Bumblebee, and So Saffron.

As I was stamping, I realized this could be #simplestamping. What is #simplestamping? It’s card making that minimizes the supplies, and difficulty, making it perfect for those new to card making. All that is needed is stamps, ink, paper, and some glue.

After stamping the circles, I stamped a dandelion from the Garden Wishes Stamp Set, in Memento Black Ink.  This stamp set also has the flying seeds, providing all the little dots needed for our theme.

Prior to gluing the simply stamped layer to the Basic Black card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″) I stamped the sentiment, “Wishing you all the best,” also from the Garden Wishes Stamp Set. Wishing and birthdays go together, so it will probably be a birthday card.

Now that I’ve completed my #simplestamping card, I’m itching to make a “stepped up” version. Come back Wednesday to see what develops.

But for now, click here to see what the other designers created with dot & circles. Hopefully, you will be inspired, and hang your creation in our gallery.

Windmill Fields On The Horizon

The New Horizons Designer Paper is gorgeous, and a perfect background for the windmill. I selected this colorful design of 6″ X 6″ DSP, cut it to 4″ X 5 1/4″, and glued it to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Windmill On The Horizon

To make the building part of the Windmill, I used two Windmill Dies. A frame die was used to cut from Thick Basic White Cardstock, and a detailed die was used to cut from In Good Taste Designer Paper in gray. Then, I glued the two parts together with a tiny bit of Liquid Glue.

I used the same In Good Taste DSP to cut the blades for the windmill, backed the blades with Thick Basic White Cardstock, and glued it to the building.

To complete the scene, I added four rows of tulips, cut with a Windmill Fields Die from New Horizons Designer Paper. And, a tiny fence, also cut with Windmill Fields Dies, from Thick Basic White Cardstock.

I needed a small sentiment, which I found in the Sweet As A Peach Stamp Set. I stamped “It’s your day!” in Memento Black Ink on Thick Basic White Cardstock, used the Messages Die for cutting, and attached it with Dimensionals.
