Honeybee Home Valentine

Today’s design is a “clean & simple” Valentine with lots of white space (literally).

To begin, I chose a branch from the Honeybee Home Stamp that I thought would look pretty in the corner of a card. I stamped it three times in VersaMark on Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″, and colored each branch with a different Soft Pastel color: Coastal Cabana, Granny Apple Green, and Daffodil Delight.

How? I applied the Soft Pastel colors with Sponge Daubers, picking up the powder I made by rubbing the Pastel on a piece of scratch paper, and daubing it over the VersaMark images. Then, I tapped the loose powder into my waste basket, and finished by rubbing the images with a tissue.

After gluing my art piece to a Sahara Sand card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, I used a Bouquet Of Love Die to cut the small, stitched heart from Petal Pink Cardstock.

Next, I stamped the sentiment, “be mine” from the retired, Bloomin’ Love Stamp Set, and used a Bouquet Of Love Die for cutting. I glued this to the heart, and attached the heart with Dimensionals. I rarely used retired products, but I needed to have this play on words with the bee.

Be Mine

The bee is from the Honeybee Home Stamp Set, stamped in Early Espresso Ink, and cut with a Honeybee Blooms Die. It was given a tint of color with the Soft Pastel in Daffodil Delight. I glued the honeybee to the heart, and my “clean & simple” Valentine was complete.

I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.

Stenciled Flowers to Say Hello

I just received the new, Butterflies & Flowers Layering Decorative Masks, so I put it to use with four shades of pink. Stenciling on cards is so much fun; check out the entire set of masks in my Product List below.

To begin, I placed the mask of flowers on Basic White Cardstock, secured with Painter’s Tape. Then, I used Sponge Daubers with four colors of ink: Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo, Polished Pink, and Poppy Parade, and daubed away!

After fussy cutting the flowers, I placed them on Dimensionals.

Stenciled Flowers

Next, I chose a Flirty Flamingo card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, and a layer of Basic Black Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″. The top layer is Basic White Cardstock, given texture with the backside of the Hive Embossing Folder. I normally cut the layer before embossing, but this folder causes the paper to “shrink.” So, you can learn from my mishap, and emboss first, then cut to size, making it 1/8″ smaller than the black layer.

The sentiment, “HELLO,” is from the Artistically Inked Stamp Set, stamped in Memento Black Ink, and cut with an Ornate Frames Die. I glued one end to the flowers, prior to attaching the bunch to the card front.

The two leaves were cut from Basic Black Cardstock, with a Sunflowers Die, and glued in place.

Lastly, I embellished the card with three Classic Matt Dots in black.

I was inspired by Fusion.

Sale-a-bration for the Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop in 2022! This month, the theme is Sale-A-Bration. We really hope that you enjoy and will be inspired by them! As you hop from blog to blog, don’t forget to leave comments because we love hearing from you. You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

Why did I choose a pineapple, and pair it with “Good Luck?” I’ve always connected pineapples with good luck, but wasn’t sure of the reason, so I did a little research. In many Southeast Asian countries, Hokkien is spoken, and the word for pineapple is “ong lai.” This word also sounds like words meaning “incoming fortune.” So, there you have it in a nutshell, and my card was born.

The realism of the pineapple from the Island Vibes Stamp Set is wonderful! I stamped it in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock, cut it by hand, and placed it on Dimensionals. You can see a full view of the images in the stamp set in my Product List below.

Good Luck Pineapple

Contrasting with the black & white pineapple is the bright, Sale-a-bration designer paper, Sunshine & Rainbows. I used the largest Stitched Rectangles die to cut the dotted paper, and the third largest Stitched Rectangles Die to cut the black & white Pattern Party Designer Paper.

The dotted paper is glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, and the black & white paper is backed for thickness, and attached with Dimensionals.

Isn’t the Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Paper pretty? Can you find the dots and stripe I used?

Playful Alphabet Dies were used to cut the letters, “GOOD LUCK,” from the striped paper.

Here’s how: I cut one inch sections of a Foam Adhesive Sheet and attached one inch cuts of designer paper. Then, I placed the letter dies on top of the paper, and ran it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. I carefully removed the dies and backing, and attached the letters to the card front. The lines made it easy to line up the letters, by placing the bottom of the letters first.

Thank you for stopping by! Wishing you all good luck in the new year!

More inspiration awaits, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the team. The Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Then, please mark your calendars for our next blog hop on February 9th. Our theme will be Birthday Bash when our team creates birthday projects to celebrate our family and friends.

Until then, have fun in your craft space.

Flowing Flowers, a New Favorite!

This is my first time to stamp the images from the new, Flowing Flowers Stamp Set, and they are gorgeous! I love how the Distinktive stamps give natural shading, and using the Stamparatus to add color is so much fun!

To use the Stamparatus, I placed Basic White Cardstock on the Platform, and attached the larger flower to the lid. Then, I inked the flower with a Calypso Coral Ink Pad, avoiding the leaves and dots, and brought the lid down to stamp the paper.

Next, I colored the leaves and dots with a Just Jade Stampin’ Write Marker, and stamped the paper. This was followed by coloring areas with a Pale Papaya Stampin’ Write Marker. The magnet holds the paper in place, so you can stamp repeatedly on the same image without it moving. So cool! I call this the “ink to stamp” technique.

Flowing Flowers

After coloring the main image, I stamped “Thank you” in Memento Black Ink, also from the Flowing Flowers Stamp Set. Lastly, I stamped the triple flower image in Pale Papaya Ink.

After coloring, I used the second largest Stitched Rectangles Die for cutting my floral design, and placed it on Dimensionals. Then, I used the largest Stitched Rectangles Die to cut Pattern Party Designer Paper for a nice, black & white border. This was glued to a Basic Black card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Finally, I added three Classic Matt Dots to complete my thank you card. Just have to say, the sentiments are great in this set, and will be used many times. Check it out in my Product List below.

I was inspired by the color challenge at the Paper Players.

Bicycle and Hearts for Global Design Project 325

This week’s Global Design project is a color challenge: Pool Party, Pale Papaya, and Polished Pink. What a fun way to use new products!

I began with a Pool Party card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. This was layered with clouds from Flowering Fields Designer Paper, 4″ X 5 1/4″.

I could wait no longer to use the darling bicycle, a Windmill Fields Die, and cut it from a white cloud. I used the cloud, because it was whiter than our  white cardstock, and I wanted it to match. Then, I layered it on Pool Party Cardstock for thickness. Truth be told, I cut the bicycle from all the colors, until I decided which was my favorite for this card. Yes, I can be picky.

Bicycle Love

Now, for the fun hearts! I used Sweet Hearts Dies to cut the three, larger, hearts from Sweet Heart Designer Paper, and the three smaller hearts from cardstock in our challenge colors. One, small, Polished Pink heart is in the bicycle basket, and the others are floating on Dimensionals in the clouds.

To complete the scene I added three sections of fence, cut with a Windmill Fields Die from Soft Succulent Cardstock.

Don’t forget to see how our designers used the pretty colors. Hopefully, you’ll be inspired, and add your card to our gallery.

Stamping Sunday Blog Hop (Sale-a-bration)

This month’s Stamping Sunday Blog Hop is all about Sale-a-bration; that wonderful time (Jan-Feb 2022) when you can get FREE product! I’m sharing a note card gift set that combines two FREE products: Island Vibes Stamp Set and Simply Marbleous Designer Paper. You can see details of these items by clicking on their pictures in my Product List below.

The Island Vibes, tropical plant, fits perfectly in the corner of a Note Card, so I decided to stamp it in four colors of ink (Granny Apple Green, Flirty Flamingo, Shaded Spruce, and Bermuda Bay) on four colors of Simple Marbleous Designer Paper (So Saffron, Flirty Flamingo, Balmy Blue, and Coastal Cabana).

By Su Mohr for Stamping Sunday; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Island Vibes Stamp Set, Notecards & Envelopes, Ornate layers Dies, Simply Marbleous Designer Paper, Mini Paper Pumpkin Boxes, Biggest Wish Stamp Set; #islandvibes #tropical #simplymarbleous #biggestwish #ornatelayers #notecards #minipaperpumpkinbox #sale-a-bration2022 #stampinup2022 #stamping #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting

Island Vibes Note Cards

To add a decorative border, I used an Ornate Layers Die.

The sentiments are from the Biggest Wish Stamp Set, stamped in Stazon Black Ink. I used the Stamparatus, so I could stamp a couple times, making sure the words were nice and dark.

After completing the four note cards, I decorated the envelope flaps with matching, Simply Marbleous Designer Paper. How? I glued the designer paper, 5 1/4″ X 2 1/4″ to the flap, and trimmed the excess, using the flap as a template.

The box to hold the Note Cards & Envelopes is a Mini Paper Pumpkin Box, which is sturdy, and folds together easily. It was fun to decorate with the Simply Marbleous Designer Paper. The top piece is 5 1/2″ X 3 3/4″, the long sides are 5 1/2″ X  1″, and the short sides are 3 3/4″ X1″.

I used the same, Ornate Layers Die to cut a piece for the top, and attached it with Dimensionals.

The Island Vibes plant was stamped in Shaded Spruce Ink on Basic White Cardstock, fussy cut, and placed on Dimensionals.

For the word “NOTES,” I used Playful Alphabet Dies, Foam Adhesive Sheets, and the four colors of Simply Marbleous Designer Paper to match the note cards.

Continue “sale-a-brating” by hopping to all of the Stamping Sunday designer’s blogs from the line-up below. Enjoy!
