Are you looking for a new card technique? How about a “peek-a-boo” window card.
No, “peek-a-boo” doesn’t mean it’s for a baby; just that it has a window. In fact, the one I made today is for a guy.

Peek-a-boo Window
I began with a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Then, I cut a piece of Beauty Of The Earth Designer Paper, 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″ (the size of the card front), and backed it with Thick Basic White Cardstock for thickness. After letting the glue dry a bit, I used the largest Stitched Rectangles Die for cutting.

Next, I used a smaller Stitched Rectangles Die, 1 1/4″ X 3 1/4″, to cut a window. To raise the panel, Foam Adhesive Strips were placed on the back, all around the edge, and window.
The tree that’s peeking through the window was created with two Beauty Of Friendship Stamps. The trunk & limbs were stamped in Early Espresso Ink, and the leaves were stamped in Old Olive Ink. Then, a Beautiful Trees Die was used for cutting, and I attached it to the card front with Dimensionals, prior to attaching the panel.
You can see the tree die in the first photo, and the entire set in my Product List below.

I decided to go with a small, simple square for the sentiment. “Hello” is from the Beauty Of Friendship Stamp Set, stamped in Early Espresso Ink, and cut with an Ornate Frames Die.
The sweet bird is also a Beautiful Trees Die, which cuts two birds at the same time. This little bird was cut from Crushed Curry Cardstock. Isn’t it cheery?

I was inspired by TGIF.

I was thinking about my Dream Maker’s team member who was born on the 4th of July, so this birthday card will be mailed to her soon.

Poppy Celebration
I began with a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, topped with Basic White Cardstock that was cut with the largest Ornate Layers Die. Prior to gluing the layer to the card base, I gave it texture with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder.
Next, I used another Ornate Layers Die to cut the gold & white stripe, Expressions In Ink Designer Paper. I know some of you have been waiting for this collection to come back in stock, and it’s due the end of June.

For the flower, I used an all-time favorite die set, Poppy Moments. I love this flower, because it’s so much fun to put together like a jigsaw puzzle.
I first used the die to cut the flower from Thick Basic White Cardstock. Then, I used the same die to cut from Expressions In Ink Designer Paper. After gluing the white frame of the flower on the card front, I filled in the six petals from the second cut. Then, using a second poppy die, I cut the center from Gold Foil, and glued it in place.
Before gluing the flower, I used a third poppy die to cut the leaves from Expressions In Ink Designer Paper, and glued them in Place.

The sentiment, “Let’s celebrate you,” is from the Sweet As A Peach Stamp Set, stamped in Black Stazon Ink. This set is great for small sentiments, and has a perfect, little, peach label die for cutting.
Now you can see how the gold on the card really shines.
You can see all of my supplies in the Product List below.

A sentiment with the word “happy” in it seemed appropriate for this bright card, don’t you think?
I began with a Bermuda Bay card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Then, I cut a 1/2″ X 5 1/2″ strip of Pattern Party Designer Paper, edged with a Scalloped Contours Die, and glued it to a Basic White Cardstock layer, 3 3/4″ X 5 1/2″.

Happiness
Before gluing the layer to the card base, I stamped the sentiment in Black Stazon Ink, and the splatter in Bermuda Bay Ink. “So very happy for you,” and the splatter stamp, are from the Color & Contour Stamp Set.
Clicking on the pictures in my Product List takes you to complete details of the bundle.

Next, I cut the fancy circle from Granny Apple Green Cardstock, using a Painted Labels Die.

Last, I stamped three flowers, from the Color & Contour Stamp Set, in Melon Mambo Ink and Black Stazon Ink. There is a stamp that colors the petals, which I used for one of the Melon Mambo flowers. A Scalloped Contours Die was used for cutting, the flowers were attached with Dimensionals, and my “happy” card was complete.

I was inspired by the Paper Players colors.

Summer begins next week, and it definitely feels like summer, here in San Diego. The Sea Scape Stamp Set and Sea Life Dies are perfect for summertime cards.

Birthday Fishes
I began with a Pool Party card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Then, I cut the Pattern Party Designer Paper a sliver (1/16″) smaller than the card base, so it would fill the card front without hanging over the edge.
Next I cut Basic White Cardstock 5″ X 3 3/4″, and used Stitched With Whimsy Dies to do some embossing. I centered the larger square first, and then added the smaller squares to the sides. This die set is unusual, because the dies don’t cut completely through the paper.
After embossing, I stamped squares inside the stitched lines, using the Watercolor Shapes Stamp Set and Pool Party Ink. It’s fun how they fit together perfectly, isn’t it? Be sure to check them out in my Product List below.

Next, I stamped some bubbles, using a Sea Scape stamp and Pool Party Ink. Then, I used Sea Life Dies to cut the two fish and coral from Rainbow Glimmer Paper, and attached them with Dimensionals.

I love the sentiment, “Hoping all your birthday fishes come true,” which is from the Whale Done Stamp Set. I stamped it in Black Stazon Ink, used a Beautiful Trees Die for cutting, and attached it with Dimensionals.
The last step was adding three sequins for more underwater sparkle.

I was inspired by TGIF.

Pool Party Classic Stampin’ Pad
[126982]
$6.50
Jun 14, 2021 | Gallery, Global Design Project, Hand-Crafted Cards |
This week’s assignment at Global Design Project was to case fellow designer, Emma Goddard. I wanted to use the colorful blocks of color down the side, because it was striking.

Stacked Color
Here is Emma’s card:

After some measuring, I discovered that six of this die-cut shape would fit perfectly on my design. Do you know where I found this die? It’s a Snail Die; the one that is a note to go in the mini envelope. Click on the picture in my Product List below to see the set, and order, before it retires June 30.
The six colors of cardstock I used for cutting are, top to bottom: Soft Sea Foam, Pear Pizzazz, Fresh Freesia, Polished Pink, Soft Succulent, and Mint Macaron.

I mentioned doing some measuring, so after I stamped the succulents (Simply Succulents Stamp Set) in Smoky Slate Ink on Basic White Cardstock (4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″) I used the largest Stitched Rectangles Die for cutting. Amazingly, the six blocks of color fit perfectly!
Next, I glued my art piece to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

The sentiment, “you’ve been on my mind,” is also from the Simply Succulents Stamp Set. I stamped it in Memento Black Ink, and used the smallest Stitched Rectangles Die for cutting. Then, I used the same die to cut from black & white, True Love Designer Paper, glued the two rectangles together, and attached with Dimensionals.
Prior to attaching the sentiment, I added a loop of Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon beneath the label. How do you like the pretty, purple color? If you look at the first picture, you’ll see the ribbon is white. This ribbon is easily colored with Stampin’ Blends, so you can have any color you desire. Because of the alcohol in the Stampin’ Blends, it dries in a jiffy. So fun!
For a final detail, I added three Metallic Pearls. Now, it’s your turn to have fun casing Emma!

Today’s blog hop is all about a trending, coloring technique, ombre. What is ombre? “It’s having tones of color that shade into each other, graduating from light to dark.”
It was fun creating this Note Card Gift Set, using the ombre technique, with all of the Stampin’ Up! supplies you’ll find in my Product List below. There are 20 Note Cards & Envelopes in a pack; what a deal!

Note Card Gift Set
First, using Blending Brushes, and four colors of ink (Fresh Freesia, Magenta Madness, Polished Pink, and Pale Papaya), I colored four pieces of Basic White Cardstock, 5″ X 3 1/2″. I started at the bottom, which would be the darkest, and added ink in a circular motion. To keep the ombre effect, I was careful to leave the top lighter. Then, I used an Ornate Layers Die for cutting.

Next, I used the Stamparatus to stamp “Thanks,” from the Artistically Inked Stamp Set, in matching colors.
After gluing my ombre colored pieces to the front of the note cards, I stamped the flowers in matching colors, plus, I stamped the leaves in Pear Pizzazz and Just Jade Ink. Pictured are the Artistic Dies I used for cutting. Stamping the flowers in the same direction helps line up the die for cutting. After gluing the leaves to the flowers, I attached them with Dimensionals.

Once my cards were complete, I decided to decorate the envelopes with Expressions In Ink Designer Paper.
I cut four pieces to match the colors, 5 1/16″ X 1 3/4″, gluing each to an envelope flap. Then, using my Paper Snips, with the flap as a guide, I trimmed the small amount of excess around the corners.

Finally, the cute, Mini Paper Pumpkin Box to hold the note cards. It’s the perfect size, which you can read about in my Product List. It’s very sturdy, has a glossy finish, folds together easily, and you get 10 in a pack.

I decorated the top of the box with Expressions In Ink Designer Paper, a sliver smaller than 5 1/2″ X 3 3/4″, so it wouldn’t be too close to the edge. I also added leaves, cut from Basic White Cardstock with an Artistic Die, and tied it with Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon.

I think you can see how my colors were taken from the Expressions In Ink Designer Paper. Stampin’ Up! makes coordination easy!

I know you’ll want to see more ways to use ombre, and our Stamping Sunday Designers are excited to show you. Enjoy!
