Today’s card was designed for a theme, “farmhouse chic.” I did a little research, because I wasn’t entirely sure of the meaning, and this is what I learned: “There’s an emerging style trend, Farmhouse Chic. The look is relaxed and rustic but rethought, with a contemporary new spin that’s all about texture and tone in a mix of materials.”
I was excited, because it gave me the opportunity to revisit one of my favorites, the Sunflower Dies. Don’t you think it has a “contemporary spin?”

“farmhouse chic”
I began with a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. This was topped with In Good Taste Designer Paper, 4″ X 5 1/4″, embossed with the Bark Embossing Folder for additional texture.
The In Good Taste Designer Paper is fantastic, and I’ll give you an early notice: it’s one of the designer papers that will be in the Designer Paper Sale for the month of July. So, if you’re thinking about ordering it, wait until July. You can see all of the patterns in my Product List below, including the one I used for photography.

The sunflower was cut with the two dies you see in the first picture. The frame was cut from Thick Basic White Cardstock, and the piece beneath was cut from Brights 6X6 in Daffodil Delight, my favorite yellow. This pattern has retired, but you can see the four new patterns in my Product List.
I glued the two parts together at the circle, and attached it to the card front with Dimensionals.
The leaves were cut from Mossy Meadow Cardstock and Pear Pizzazz Cardstock, glued together, and then glued flat, beneath the sunflower.

“Thanks” is from the Queen Anne’s Lace Stamp Set, stamped in Mossy Meadow Ink, and cut with an Ornate Frames Die. I thought it looked like “farmhouse chic.”

I was inspired by TGIF.

While excited about free shipping, I created a card with a fun, “acrylic block” technique for a beautiful, Sea Life, fish.

Acrylic Block Technique
The acrylic blocks come in a number of sizes to fit various sized stamps. I used size H to stamp four rows across Basic White Cardstock, the size of a card front, 5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″.
I inked the block, stamping the cardstock in even rows, using three colors: Pool Party, Mint Macaron, and Coastal Cabana. The block was easily cleaned with a Baby Wipe between colors. Then, I used the largest Stitched Rectangles Die for cutting.

Next, I positioned the fish, a Sea Life Die, and rolled it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Now I understand why the fish was designed to not be completely cut. See what I mean?
I tried several colors for the card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″), but the Shaded Spruce really made the fish pop.

For the sentiment, I used “Best Wishes” from the Artistically Inked Stamp Set, stamped in Shaded Spruce Ink, and cut with an Ornate Frames Die. To make it stand out, I used the die that’s a size larger to cut a frame from Mint Macaron Cardstock.
I added some bubbles from the Seascape Stamp Set, along with three Artistry Blooms Sequins, and my card was complete.

I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.

Today’s “HAPPY” birthday card combines several sets with a beautiful, soft, color palette.

“HAPPY” birthday
I began with a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Next, a layer of Fresh Freesia Cardstock, cut with the largest Scalloped Contours Die, and topped with Basic White Cardstock, cut with the second largest Stitched Rectangles Die.
Isn’t it great how these layers fit together? If you wanted a wider scalloped border, you could use the third largest Stitched Rectangles Die.

Prior to gluing the layers together, I stamped the pretty branch from the Positive Thoughts Stamp Set. I stamped it in Granny Apple Green Ink on the top layer; once full strength, and twice, stamped off. Then, I stamped the butterfly from the same stamp set, in So Saffron Ink.
“Birthday” is from the Artistically Inked Stamp Set, stamped in Flirty Flamingo Ink, while masking “happy,” because I had other plans for that part of the sentiment. I used the smallest Stitched Rectangles Die for cutting, and glued it in place.
Gingham “HAPPY” was created with Pansy Petals Designer Paper and Playful Alphabet Dies.
First, I attached a 1″strip of Fresh Freesia, Pansy Petals Designer Paper to a 1″ strip of Foam Adhesive Sheet, placing the letters on top, and running it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. Then, I turned the letters upside down, and ran it through a second time to make sure it was a good cut.
The Foam Adhesive Sheet is an easy way to give the small letters wonderful dimension, and it’s easy to peel the backing and stick them to the card front

Too add some Flirty Flamingo color, I stamped a doodad from the Positive Thoughts Stamp Set. Then, I punctuated it with an Artistry Blooms Self-Adhesive Sequin. I’m so glad I made this my June host code gift, because you will love them. See below how to receive your free sequins.

When challenged to make a clean & simple card with fruit, the Sweet As A Peach Stamp Set was the answer. Follow along to see how I colored the peaches with the “ink-to-stamp” technique.

Sweet Peach
I started with a Thick Basic White card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″), which would remain without layers.
Coloring the peaches, from the Sweet As A Peach Stamp Set was really fun, using the Stamparatus and the “ink-to-stamp” technique. You can click on the picture of the Stamparatus in my Product List to learn more about it.
I stuck the peach stamp to the lid of the Stamparatus, colored the stamp with a Pale Papaya Stampin’ Write Marker and a Poppy Parade Stampin’ Blend, and lowered the lid, stamping on Basic White Cardstock. I repeated the process to make three peaches, and used a Peach Die for cutting. Don’t they look fuzzy?
Next, I used a Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Write Marker for the leaves, in the same manner, and used a Peach Die for cutting.

After gluing the leaves to the peaches, I placed the peaches on Dimensionals, and attached the peaches to the card front.
The tiny blossoms were cut from Thick Basic White Cardstock with Peach Dies, and glued in place, with assistance from the Take Your Pick Tool. This tool makes picking up tiny pieces so much easier. I forgot to put it in my Product List, but its number is 144107.
The black & white stripe is Pattern Party Designer Paper, a 1/2″ X 5 1/2″ strip, that I cut and glued to the edge for pizzazz.

Guess where I found the sentiment…. you’re right, it’s from the Sweet As A Peach Stamp Set. I stamped it in Black Stazon Ink, used an Ornate Frames Die for cutting, attached it with Dimensionals, and my clean & simple card was complete.

My inspiration came from the Paper Players.

Jun 21, 2021 | Gallery, Global Design Project, Hand-Crafted Cards |
This week’s Global Design Project was a color challenge, and I couldn’t stop thinking about pansies. I used die-cuts of cardstock to create this pansy, and doesn’t it look like embroidery? Maybe it’s the thickness of the paper that makes it look like fabric. Anyway, I decided it needed to be framed. Follow along for instructions.

Framed Pansy
Here are the colors. I love the combo of purple and green, and it would be great to see your creations hanging in our gallery. Just click the icon for more inspiration, then join in the fun!

The frame was easy to make with the Stitched Rectangles Dies.
First, I cut a piece of Pansy Designer Paper in a Fresh Freesia, gingham pattern, 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″.
Second, I glued this to Fresh Freesia Cardstock in the same size.
Third, I cut the frame by using the largest and fourth largest Stitched Rectangles Dies. They were run through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine at the same time, and I was careful to center them evenly. The lines of the gingham were helpful in doing this.
Fourth, I added Foam Adhesive Strips to the back, and attached my frame to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

The flower is easy also, once you get the “hang” of the parts, which I’ll try to explain.
The largest third of the flower was cut from Basic White Cardstock, with its “edge” cut from Blackberry Bliss Cardstock. The two smaller thirds of the flower were cut from Fresh Freesia Cardstock, with their “edge” cut from Blackberry Bliss. After gluing the edges and three parts of the flower together, I added the beard and center dot. The beard (yes, that’s its name) was cut from Blackberry Bliss, and the center dot was cut from Daffodil Delight Cardstock.

On to the leaves. The one large, and two smaller leaves were cut from Pear Pizzazz Cardstock. I used Old Olive Cardstock to cut the veins, which I glued on top. Then, I glued the leaves flat, beneath the pansy, which was attached with Dimensionals.

You know how plants sometimes outgrow their pots. Well, this pansy started growing outside its frame! The stem was cut from Pear Pizzazz cardstock, and two dies were used to cut the bud from Fresh Freesia and Basic White Cardstock. I decided to let it grow there, so added some glue to keep it under control.

For the sentiment, I wanted to use this Ornate Frames Die, and found the perfect fit in the Pansy Patch Stamp Set. I stamped “Love you Much” in Blackberry Bliss Ink, attached it with Dimensionals, and my framed pansy was complete.

For today’s beach scene, I began with the background, created with Sand & Sea Designer Paper. The sand is 5 1/4″ X 4″, glued in the left corner of a Sahara Sand card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.The ocean is 4″ by 2 3/4 “, glued to Basic White Cardstock that is 1/8” larger, and glued in the corner on top of the sand.

Beach Scene
Next, I used the largest Seaside Seashell Die, the one that can cover an entire card front, to cut Basic White Cardstock. Then, I snipped away one corner section to fit my design.
This is a unique bundle, because there is an embossing folder to use with the largest die, which gives detail to the shells and seaweed. It’s amazing! Check it out in my Product List below.

The Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set has a number of shells, and I used the one you see with the sentiment, and a sand dollar. The one with the sentiment was stamped in Sahara Sand Ink on Basic White Cardstock, fussy cut, and glued on top of its twin shell from the snipped die-cut. Prior to gluing, I stamped the sentiment, “love you to the beach and back,” in Early Espresso Ink.

The sand dollar was also stamped in Early Espresso Ink, cut with its die, and colored with a Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend. I attached the seashells with Dimensionals, and the seaweed was left free.

I was inspired by Fusion’s sketch and theme.
