Sometimes it’s simply a matter of letting the designer paper be the star of the show, and do all the work!

Fine Art Floral
Today’s card began with a beautiful piece of Fine Art Floral Designer Paper, cut with the largest Ornate Layers Die. Then, I gave it some texture with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder. Don’t you love this paper?
Before gluing it to the Thick Basic White card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″) I added some Mossy Meadow, Braided Linen Trim. A 4 1/2″ strand was easily taped to the back, and I tied a bow, attaching it with Liquid Glue at the knot.

The sentiment is from the Dragonfly Garden Stamp Set, stamped in Night Of Navy Ink on Thick Basic White Cardstock, cut with an Ornate Frames Die, and attached with Dimensionals.

No one loves beautiful flowers more than ladybugs, and a darling Ladybug Trinket landed right on the sentiment, secured with a Glue Dot.

I was inspired by the Paper Players.

Sketch challenges are always inspirational, and today’s Global Design Project sketch was no exception.
My favorite circle, lately, has been the Birds & More Die, which I used to cut a hole in the middle of dotted, True Love Designer Paper, 5 1/4″ X 4 “.

True Love Design
I glued this dotted layer to a Granny Apple Green card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.
Using more of the True Love Designer Paper, I fussy cut a flower, and colored it with Stampin’ Blends in four colors: Granny Apple Green, Old Olive, Mango Melody, and Daffodil Delight. After coloring, I attached it with Dimensionals.

One more pattern of True Love Designer Paper was used in two of the curvy strips, above and below, the sentiment. The curvy strips were cut with an Ornate Frames Die.
The sentiment, stamped on Basic White Cardstock with Memento Black Ink, is from the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set, a favorite, and one that is retiring. You can see the entire Last Chance Products list by clicking on the box below.

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing how I used a favorite circle, and will get more inspiration from our GDP Designers, and post your cards in our gallery.

Here I go with another stenciled card design, because the Forever Gold Laser-Cut Paper makes it so much fun!
First, I held the stencil on top of Basic White Cardstock, 5 1/4″ X 4″, and used a Blending Brush to apply Pool Party Ink. I tapped the brush around the edge to not disturb the stencil, with a very light touch in the center. Don’t worry if the stencil moves a little bit, because you can reposition it.

Extraordinary You
Once I was happy with the amount of ink applied, I used the second largest Stitched Rectangles Die for cutting. This die was just the right size to make a nice border.
Next, I stamped the sentiment, from the Simply Succulents Stamp Set, in Pool Party Ink. See why I wanted it lighter in the middle? I used the Stamparatus to make sure the sentiment was dark enough. It’s a good thing, because I ended up stamping it three times.

Before gluing my stenciled piece to the Thick Basic White card base, I embossed the front of the card base with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder for some texture.

To bring in some color, I found a Special Days flower die to cut small flowers from Flirty Flamingo and Blushing Bride Cardstock. I also added three Opal Rounds for interest.

I was inspired by the colors at TGIF.

I wanted to keep this butterfly card light and “dreamy creamy.” What do you think?

Natural Touch Butterfly
I usually use Basic White, but Very Vanilla would work well with what I had in mind. The card base is Thick Very Vanilla, 8 1/2 X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, with rounded corners, which I made with the Detailed Trio Punch.
The rounded corners match the rounded corners of Very Vanilla Cardstock that was cut with the largest Ornate Layers Die. See above.

After giving the layer texture with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder, I glued it to the card base.
Next, I used a second Ornate Layers Die to cut the vertical strip from Natural Touch Specialty Paper, and glued it on the right side of the card front.
I topped the strip with a fancy rectangle, cut from Sand & Sea Designer Paper, with a third, Ornate Layers Die.
Prior to gluing the fancy rectangle, I stamped the sentiment in Memento Black Ink. “Many Thanks” is from the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set, which is retiring. You’ll find the stamp set in the Last Chance Products Sale by clicking on the box below.

Finally, the butterfly was made with a Brilliant Wings Die, cut from Natural Touch Specialty Paper. It was layered for thickness, and glued at the body, leaving the wings free.

I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.

Are you excited to see the two winners of my March drawing? Congratulations to Tammy A. and Julie G.! I’ll be sending you the Punch Party Stamp Set.
Everyone else who ordered a minimum of $75.00 in March will receive 100 sheets of 6X6 Designer Paper. Yay!

Now, for today’s card from the Simply Succulents Stamp Set, using a Vellum Cardstock technique.
First, cut the Vellum using the second largest Stitched Rectangles Die. Stamp the large, group of succulents from the Simply Succulents Stamp Set in Memento Black Ink. I didn’t let it dry long enough, so give it time, in order to avoid smearing.

Second, turn it over, and color with Stampin’ Blends. I used Highland Heather, Mint Macaron, Rich Razzleberry, Granny Apple Green, and Old Olive. You’ll notice the color will move around a bit, like watercoloring, and it doesn’t look great, until you turn it over again. Then, you are in for a nice surprise!

Next, I made my frame, using the largest, and third largest Stitched Rectangles Dies, cut from Pool Party Cardstock. I glued my vellum succulents to the frame, and the Pool Party frame to a Mint Macaron card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

The sentiment, “hooray,” is a Well Written Die, cut from Mint Macaron Cardstock. This has been a favorite die set of mine, and you’ll find it in the Last Chance Products Sale, because it is retiring. Clicking on the box below will take you to the sale.

Do you like punches? Seventeen Stampin’ Up! Punches are retiring, and this means you can grab many at greatly reduced prices. When they are gone, they’ll be gone forever. You can see all of the punches in my Product List below, and clicking on the pictures takes you to the sale price with details.
One of my favorite punches is the Balloon Bouquet Punch, which I used for today’s card.

Birthday Chick’s Balloons
First, I punched the balloons in Basic White Cardstock, and used this as a stencil. Then, I placed the stencil on top of Basic White Cardstock (3″ X 4 3/4″), and with Sponge Daubers, I filled in the balloon “holes” with four colors of ink: Mint Macaron, Garden Green, Granny Apple Green, and Coastal Cabana.
I backed this with True Love Designer Paper, 1/4″ larger, to give it a fun, black & white border.

Next, I stamped “Happy Birthday,” from the Hey Birthday Chick Stamp Set, in Memento Black Ink, and glued this to a Pool Party card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.
The chick wanted to say “hello,” so we found the word in the Snailed It Stamp Set, stamped it in Memento Black Ink, and cut with its Snail Die.

Now, for the chick. I stamped her in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock, and added a touch of color with Stampin’ Blends: Granny Apple Green, Smoky Slate, Real Red, and Pumpkin Pie.
After backing her with Thick Basic White Cardstock for sturdiness, I attached her with Dimensionals, and she was ready to fly away.

Are you ready to see my March Host Code Gift?
EVERYONE who orders a minimum of $75.00 in the month of March will receive my host code gift of a stack of 100 sheets of Designer Series Paper. I have carefully cut Stampin’ Up’s Designer Series Paper, from the last five years, into 6X6″ squares, all different.
