Rainbow Glimmer Butterfly

The two, vertical, strips beneath the butterfly were cut from Sand & Sea Designer Paper with a Stitched Rectangles Die, and layered on Thick Basic White Cardstock for thickness.

The horizontal strip was cut from Basic White Cardstock with an Ornate Layers Die. Prior to gluing it to the card front, I stamped the sentiment. “Thanks” is from the Simply Succulents Stamp Set, and it looks like it matches the butterfly. Don’t you think?

The background is Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″, embossed with the Ornate Floral Embossing Folder. The embossed layer is glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

You have lots of texture and interest, while keeping the card clean & simple.

I was inspired by the Paper Players.

Butterflies with Sand & Sea for GDP 285

This week’s Global Design Project is a color challenge, using Seaside Spray, So Saffron, and Sahara Sand. Since these happen to be the colors in the Sand & Sea Designer Paper, this was my starting point.

By Su Mohr for GDP285; Click aromasandart to go to my web site for details! Featuring: Brilliant Wings Dies, Ornate Layers Dies, Ornate Frames Dies, Sand & Sea Designer Paper, Welcoming Window Stamp Set; #brilliantwings #butterflies #butterfliesoncards #birthdaycards #sand&sea #ornatelayers #ornateframes #welcomingwindow #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart #tastefultextileembossing

Beach Butterflies

First, I used the large Brilliant Wings Die to cut two butterflies from Sand & Sea Designer Paper in the colors of So Saffron and Seaside Spray.

Hint: I cut small pieces of the designer paper, approximately the size of the butterflies, so it wouldn’t be wasted.

Next, I cut two, detailed butterflies from Vellum Cardstock, and glued the bodies to the solid butterflies, leaving the wings free. And, I placed them on Dimensionals to give them even more lift.

The background is Sand & Sea Designer Paper, cut with an Ornate Layers Die. It already had the visual texture of sand, and I added “real” texture with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder. This was glued to the middle of a Sahara Sand card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

The sentiment is from the Welcoming Window Stamp Set, stamped in Memento Black Ink on the “sand,” and cut with an Ornate Frames Die. The frame is a coordinating die, cut from Sahara Sand Cardstock. Both dies can be seen in the first photo, as well as my product List below.

It’s really fun doing color challenges! Get more inspiration from our designers, and play along with us by posting your card in our gallery.

Quite Curvy One In A Million

The Quite Curvy Bundle was the first set I used from the January-June 2021 Mini Catalog, and I’m still fascinated by the Curvy Dies. Plus, I love the little birds. Today’s card began with the Fab Friday colors in mind: Misty Moonlight, Pear Pizazz, and Smoky Slate.

By Su Mohr for Fab Fri; Click aromasandart to go to my web site for details! Featuring: Quite Curvy Stamp Set, Curvy Dies, In Good Taste Designer Paper, Stampin' Blends; #quitecurvy, #curvydies #ingoodtaste #birds #birdoncards #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart colorcombos #cardchallenges #stampinup #stamping

One in a million

My first decision was to use a Smoky Slate card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, topped with a Basic White layer, 5 1/4″ X 4″. The “wall” was created with a 5 1/4″ X 1 1/2″ piece of In Good Taste Designer Paper.

Next, I used a Blending Brush and an Old Olive Stampin’ Blend to color Basic White Cardstock. It’s a long story why I used this method, but I needed to have the Pear Pizazz color for the challenge, and this was the closest I could get. After coloring the paper, I stamped the leaves in Memento Black Ink, used its Curvy Die for cutting, and attached it with Dimensionals.

For the curve at the top, I used the sprig die to cut three sprigs from Thick Basic White Cardstock, and glued them together.

“You’re one in a million” is from the Quite Curvy Stamp Set, stamped in Misty Moonlight Ink.

The three, little birds were stamped in Misty Moonlight Ink, and cut with their Curvy Dies. I attached the birds with Mini Dimensionals, and my card was complete.

How To Stamp Your Own DSP

Today’s challenge was to stamp my own DSP (Designer Series Paper). If you haven’t tried it, you should, because it’s really fun! I chose to stamp a sheet of cocktails from the Nothing’s Better Than Stamp Set.

First, I stamped the cocktail glass in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock, 5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″, in three, alternating rows. Then, I had the fun of coloring. The stamp set comes with a stamp that fills the glass, and even has ice cubes.

I used four colors: Bermuda Bay, Mango Melody, Flirty Flamingo, and Magenta Madness. To make the drinks a lighter shade, I used the “stamped off” technique. This means, I inked the stamp, stamped on scratch paper, and stamped my project without re-inking.

Next, I used the same four colors in Stampin’ Blends to finish coloring the citrus and umbrellas. I love how Stampin’ Up! coordinates everything!

By Su Mohr for TGIF; Click aromasandart to go to my web site for details! Featuring: Nothing's better Than Stamp Set, Love You More Than Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies; #nothingsbetterthan #loveyoumorethan #cocktails #humorouscards #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart #designyourowndsp #stampinup

Cocktails Kind of Day

After coloring the cocktails I used the second largest, Stitched Rectangles Die, to cut it down to size. This way, I wasn’t tempted to show complete images, instead of partial images, as “real” designer paper would be when cut.

Next, I layered it on Bermuda Bay Cardstock, cut with the largest, Stitched Rectangles Die, and layered both on a Coastal Cabana card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

“Cocktails” is one of the Love You More Than Dies, cut from Basic Black Cardstock, and layered on the same word cut from Bermuda Bay Cardstock. It gives the word thickness, as well as a subtle bit of color.

To complete the sentiment, I stamped “today is a” and “kind of day” in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock. Hint: I placed the phrases side by side on the acrylic block when stamping, so they would be easy to cut the same size.

I was inspired by TGIF.

Welcoming Window Masculine Card

I hope you don’t mind my calling this a masculine card, but my husband confirmed that it fits this description. This remains his favorite stamp set in the catalog, and I can’t argue with a man who sees the beauty in flowers. The trick is to keep it “clean & simple” and use neutral colors.

By Su Mohr for FMS; Click aromasandart to go to my web site for details! Featuring: Welcoming Window Stamp Set, Window Flower Box Dies, Ornate Frames Dies, Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set; #welcomingwindow, #Windowflowerbox #windows #windowsoncards #masculinecards #bricks #bricksoncards #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #flowers #flowersoncards #sumohr #aromasandart #cardsketches #stamping #stampinup

Masculine Window

I began by stamping the clay pots and flowers from the Welcoming Window Stamp Set on Basic White Cardstock. For the pots, I used Calypso Coral Ink, followed by Sahara Sand Ink. The small plant and flowers were stamped in Garden Green, Daffodil Delight, and Just Jade Inks. I used the Window Flower Box Dies for cutting.

The brick wall was made with the Brick & Mortar Embossing Folder, which I ran through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine with Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″.

The window was cut with a Window Flower Box Die from Mossy Meadow Cardstock, and glued above the brick wall.

After gluing the white layer to the Mossy Meadow card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″), I attached the clay pots.

The sentiment, “Hey, friend,” is from the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set, stamped in Garden Green Ink, and cut with an Ornate Frames Die. The tiny hole, that comes with the die, was begging for some Linen Thread. This is probably the only “ribbon” that my husband likes.

I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.
