Christmas Cookies

My recipe, from the Nothing’s Better Than Stamp Set, called for the cookies to be stamped in Early Espresso Ink on Whisper White Cardstock. After cutting with their Love You More Than Die, I colored the cookies with Stampin’ Blends in two colors: Bronze and Cinnamon Cider. Everyone knows that cinnamon is a Christmas flavor, right?

To show off my cookies, I placed them on a Plaid Tidings, red and green tablecloth. The table cloth has such a pretty border that was made with the largest Ornate Layers Die, perfect for the holidays.

“Oh what yum” is from the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set, stamped in Cherry Cobbler, and cut with an Ornate Frames Die. Isn’t the frame adorable? “Cookies” is from the Nothing’s Better Than Stamp Set, also stamped in Cherry Cobbler Ink, and also cut with an Ornate Frames Die. All I can say is, “yum,” I almost ate the paper.

My inspiration was from the Paper Players.

Beautiful Boughs to Celebrate the Season

The Beautiful Boughs Die Set makes beautiful holiday cards, in all colors, including Purple Posy.

By Su Mohr for Fab Friday; Click READ or VISIt to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Beautiful Boughs Dies, Feels Like Frost Designer Paper, Ornate Layers Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Tasteful Textile embossing; #holidaycards #holiday2020 #beautifulboughs #feelslikefrost #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #christmascards #stampinup #cardsketches #ornatelayers

Beautiful Boughs

I began with a Purple Posy card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. I topped it with a layer of more Purple Posy, cut with the largest Ornate Layers Die, and embossed with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder.

Next, came a piece of Feels Like Frost Designer Paper, cut with a Stitched Rectangles Die, approximately 3 1/4″ X 1 3/4″. I used the largest Ornate Layers Die to cut a small edge, 1 3/4″, from Whisper White Cardstock, matching the outside border.

The focal point was cut with a Beautiful Boughs die from Whisper White Cardstock, and glued across the designer paper. The die is pictured in the first photo, and you can see the entire set in my Product List below.

The sentiment, “Celebrate the season,” is from the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set, stamped in Highland Heather Ink, cut with the smallest Stitched rectangles Die, and attached with Dimensionals.

A sprinkling of Woven Threads Sequins added some sparkle.

I was inspired by the sketch at Fab Friday.

Dino Days Paper Hugs

Are you missing hugs as much as I am? I know many of you are, so I wanted to create a card to send “paper hugs.” I immediately heard a voice coming from one of my stamp sets, “me, me, I give the best hugs of all.” It didn’t take long to discover it was that adorable Rex from the Dino Days Stamp Set. His arms are short, but I have to admit, he gives great hugs.

By Su Mohr for TGIF; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Dino Days Stamp Set, Dino Dies, Playful Alphabet, Heartwarming Hugs Designer Paper, In Good Taste Designer Paper; #dinodays #dinodies #playfulalphabet #alphabet #lettersforcards #dinosaursoncards #paperhugs #heartwarminghugs #designerpaper #papersale #friendshipcards #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #cardinstruction #papercrafting #stampinup #cardideas

Paper Hugs

First, I stamped Rex, and his spiny back, in Mossy Meadow Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, and used the Dino Dies for cutting. He said I should glue the spines to his back, because it added character, and he promised not to hurt anyone.

Rex thought wood texture would be a good background, so we chose my favorite from In Good Taste Designer Paper, cutting it to 4″ X 5 1/4″. Plus, we cut a circle from the center, using a Layering Circles Die. We also cut a scalloped circle from Thick Whisper White Cardstock, glued the two together, and placed it on Dimensionals. Rex planned on being featured in the circle, and said the white scalloped edge brought out the color in his eyes. I tried not to laugh, as I layered the wood texture on a Gray Granite card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Now for the Playful Alphabet letters. We explored several options of designer paper, but the number one favorite was the tiny gingham from Heartwarming Hugs. I cut a 1″ strip of the designer paper, and attached it to a 1″ strip of a Foam Adhesive Sheet. After placing the letter dies on the strip, I ran it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, one time the normal way, and one time upside down. This insures a good cut, so the letters are easy to remove. I took off the backing, placing “paper” on the top of the circle, and “hugs” on the bottom.

Rex likes his card so much, he said he wanted me to keep it. I’ll have to think about that.

By the way, both designer papers I used, Heartwarming Hugs, and In Good Taste, are on sale for the month of October. You can see all of the sale papers and details below. Clicking on the pictures will take you to my store for easy ordering.

Winter Woods Trees for GDP263

I continue to love this carry-over set, Winter Woods, my choice for today’s Thanksgiving card. The row of trees has such amazing detail!

By Su Mohr for GDP263; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Winter Woods Stamp Set, Stitched So Sweetly Dies, Stitched So Sweetly Dies, Sounds Of The Season Dies, Tasteful Textile embossing; #thanksgivingcards #thankyoucards #treesoncards #winterwoods #gdp263 #globaldesignproject #cardthemes #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting

Thanksgiving Trees

I stamped the trees in Early Espresso Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, and cut with a Stitched Rectangles Die, approximately 4″ X 2 3/4″. To highlight the trees I added a 1/16″ border of  Early Espresso Cardstock. For the background, I cut Crumb Cake Cardstock, using the largest Stitched Rectangles Die, and embossed it with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder. The card base is Early Espresso Cardstock, matching the border of the trees.

It’s hard to see in the photo, but the trees are raised on Dimensionals, making use of the left-over strips along the edge.

The fall leaves add colorful contrast in Real Red, Old Olive, Bumblebee, and Pumpkin Pie. I discovered that cute, little leaf in the Sounds Of The Season Die.

The small “THANKS” is from the Waterfront Stamp Set, stamped in Real Red Ink, and cut with the smallest Stitched So Sweetly Die.

For more inspiration during this “season of thanks,” see what the design team has created for you to enjoy. We’d love to see your designs in our gallery!

“Sneak Peek” at the Dandy Garden Project Collection

This new,  Dandy Garden Project Collection, is especially exciting, because it’s being introduced at Stampin’ Up’s On Stage event in November.  I was able to receive it early, being a Demonstrator who is attending the virtual event. How fun!

When I first started making cards, I was intrigued by this technique; folding down a corner. It’s great to use when you want both sides of the paper to show, like this fabulous, Dandy Garden Designer Paper. It is 6″ X 6″ paper, cut a smidge smaller than than the card front, 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″.

Before gluing to the Mossy Meadow card base, I folded down the corner, and secured it with two Dimensionals, so it would stay slightly raised.

Dandy Garden

You know I love Braided LinenTrim, and here it is in Mossy Meadow, from the Dandy Garden Project Collection. I tied a bow, stretched it a bit with my fingers, and attached it with a Glue Dot. The collection also includes these adorable, metal, ladybugs. One HAD to make an appearance on my card.

The ladybug landed on the sentiment from the Dragonfly Garden Stamp Set. I stamped “for a true friend” in Mossy Meadow Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, cut with a Stitched Triangles Die. I tucked this under the corner, which mimics the shape.

The focal point is the dragonfly from the Dragonfly Garden Stamp Set, which I stamped in Bumblebee Ink, and punched from Whisper White Cardstock. Yes, I said punched. That’s what makes this set unique from the dragonfly set we recall from the past.

This is just a sneak peek to whet your appetite. I’ll be showing you more as we get closer to the ordering time. The new products aren’t available, so you will only see the current supplies in my Product List. #simplestamping with a Sloth

When I saw this week’s CAS(E) this sketch, I needed something hanging, and there’s nothing cuter than this hanging sloth! So, even though I need to be making Christmas cards, this card is perfect for our pandemic times. Do you see the mask wrapped around his arm?

By Su Mohr for cts; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Back On Your Feet Stamp Set, Swirly Frames Stamp Set, Stampin' Blends; #sloths #slothsoncards #backonyourfeet #getwellcards #encouragementcards #covidcards #pandemic #sympathycards #cardsketches #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting

2020 Sloth

The adorable sloth is from the Back On Your Feet Stamp Set, stamped in Early Espresso Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″. The card base is Garden Green, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

This is a “clean & simple card” and it would be #simplestamping, if I hadn’t used Stampin’ Blends. But, the sloth said I had to color him, because he deserved to look his best under these trying circumstances. I used Light and Dark Crumb Cake for his body, Bronze for the limb, and Dark Granny Apple Green for the leaves.

The horizontal lines are from the Swirly Frames Stamp Set, stamped in Early Espresso Ink. The sentiment, “sigh,” is from the Back On Your Feet Stamp Set, also stamped in Early Espresso Ink.

I was inspired by CAS(E) this sketch.
