Dale the whale

First, I cut a piece of Whale Of A Time, ocean waves, using an Ornate Layers Die. I love the detailed edge on this die, don’t you?

Next, I fussy cut (cut by hand) the adorable whale from the Whale Of A Time Designer Paper, and placed him on Dimensionals. I love names that rhyme, so his name is Dale. He’s blowing bubbles with a stamp I used from the Whale Done Stamp Set.

This picture also shows the Ornate Layers Die I used to cut Balmy Blue Cardstock for the sentiment. I stamped “Whale Done!,” and the fish, from the Whale Done Stamp Set, in Night Of Navy Ink.

The background is Balmy Blue Cardstock, cut with a Stitched Rectangles Die ( 3″ X 4 1/4″ ), layered on a Night Of Navy card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″).

And, that’s it for my “clean & simple” card, otherwise known as “CAS.”

I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.

Nature’s Roots Fall Leaves

I imagine most of the leaves have fallen, as sunlight filters through the trees.

Fall leaves

To set the stage for my leaves, I used a card base of Mossy Meadow, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. And, it was layered with Whisper White Cardstock, 5 1/4″ X 4″, embossed with a favorite, Woodland Embossing Folder.

Prior to embossing, I stamped “Thinking of you,” from the Rooted In Nature Stamp Set, in Cinnamon Cider Ink.

My leaves are also from the Rooted In Nature Stamp Set, along with coordinating Nature’s Roots Dies. Both are available in a Bundle for a 10% discount, which you can see in my Product List below. The dies are also pictured in my first photo.

The leaves are unique, because I first cut the “outline” of the leaves from Whisper White Cardstock. Then I used the “vein” dies for embossing, and colored the leaves with Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry Inks, applied with Sponge Daubers.

I completed the scene with dots of Mossy Meadow Ink (Whale Done Stamp Set), and Cinnamon Cider Enamel Dots.

I was inspired by the colors at the Paper Players.

Mini Paper Pumpkin Boxes for the Pals Blog Hop

Hello, welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month our Design Team’s theme is “Tag, You’re It” – tags or 3D projects to get you inspired for the upcoming gift season. We hope you enjoy and will be inspired by them! Don’t forget to leave comments! We love hearing from you. At the end of my post, you will find the full line-up to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

I am so excited to share with you these super duper, Mini Paper Pumpkin Boxes! They are a great size for holding notecards and envelopes, or innumerable, small gifts. Mr. Moose said the outside of the box was just as important as the inside, and wanted a prominent position. Follow along to see how all of this took place.

By Su Mohr for Pals Blog Hop; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Mini Paper Pumpkin Boxes; Moose Punch, Heartwarming Hugs Designer Paper, Red Braided Linen Trim, Pine Woods Dies, Copper Foil, Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set; #christmasgifts #handmadechristmasgifts #minipaperpumpkinboxes #stampinup #heartwarminghugs #moose #moosepunch #handmadeboxes #smallgifts #pinetrees #3Dprojects

Decorated Mini Paper Pumpkin Box

First, I have to tell you about the Mini Paper Pumpkin Boxes. They measure 5 7/8″ X 3 3/4″ X 1″, and are food safe. Mr. Moose has already asked me to fill his box with his favorite twigs. There are 10 boxes in the pack, so I can spare one, don’t you think?

The boxes come scored, and ready to fold, and no glue is required; they just fit together. Isn’t that fantastic?

Decorating the box is fun too, and reminded me of my grandmother’s beautifully wrapped packages. She would wrap just the lid in Christmas paper, so the boxes could be used year after year. I loved seeing the familiar boxes under our Christmas tree. This box was “wrapped” in the same fashion. The gingham paper is Heartwarming Hugs Designer Paper, cut in five pieces: top-5 1/2″ X 3 3/4″, long sides-5 1/2″ X 1″, short sides-3 3/4″ X 1″. They were easily glued to the box with Tombow.

Mr. Moose is so cute, made with the Moose Punch, Copper Foil, and the Subtle Textured Embossing Folder. I layered him on cardstock before placing him on Dimensionals, because he wanted to “stand out.”

His next request was soft pine limbs to walk on, which I found in the Sound Of The Seasons Die Set, and cut from Pear Pizzazz Cardstock. But, he explained that he’s too tall to eat from the ground, so he needed trees where he could reach their tasty limbs. The trees are from the Pine Woods Die Set, cut from Mossy Meadow Cardstock.

Mr. Moose thinks surprises are important, so he wanted me to say,”No peeking until Christmas,” which I found in the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set. It’s stamped it in Real Red Ink, cut with an Ornate Frames Die, and attached to a tree limb.

For extra security, he said I should tie some Real Red Braided Linen Trim around the end of the box. Although, it’s easy to slip off the side, I like the added touch.

Thanks so much for hopping by! Mr. Moose and I hope you enjoyed seeing our decorated Mini Paper Pumpkin Box. All of the supplies are in my Product List below.

More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Mark your calendars for our next blog hop on November 11th when our theme is “Pile It On!” Participants will showcase projects with lots of layers, embellishments and/or texture. Don’t miss the fun! Until then, please stay safe and have fun in your craft space.

Sounds Of The Season

“Silver bells, silver bells, it’s Christmas time…” I couldn’t help but sing this song while making today’s card.

By Su Mohr for TGIF; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Sounds Of The Season Dies, Ornate Layers Dies, Feel Like Frost Designer Paper, Layering Circles Dies, Metallic Mesh Ribbon, Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set; #christmascards #holidaycards #holiday2020; #bells #bellsoncards #feelslikefrost #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmakin #papercrafting #stampinup #ornatelayers #soundsoftheseason

Silver Bell

This is the largest bell in the Sounds Of The Season Die Set, and so much fun to cut from Silver Foil Paper. Can’t you hear it jingle? It’s featured on top of circles, cut with Layering Circles dies from Feels Like Frost Designer Paper, and Whisper White Cardstock.

An Ornate Layers Die was used to cut the Feels Like Frost Designer Paper beneath the bell and circles. And, the largest Ornate Layers Die was used to cut the Whisper White Cardstock Layer that’s glued to the Seaside Spray card base.

I was so happy to find the perfect sentiment in the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp set, and I stamped “lots of love at Christmas” in Seaside Spray Ink. Doesn’t it have the perfect curve?

After fastening the Metallic Mesh Ribbon bow, my Christmas card was complete, but I continued singing the song all day!

The sketch at TGIF was my inspiration.

A Christmas Wreath For GDP 262

Today’s design was inspired by this week’s sketch from Global Design Project. I saw a Christmas wreath.

By Su Mohr for #gdp262; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: In Good Taste Designer Paper, Forever Greenery Designer Paper, Wreath Builder Dies, Sounds Of The Season Dies, Itty Bitty Christmas; #christmascards #holidaycards # holiday2020 #wreaths #wreathsoncards #christmaswreaths #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #cardsketches #cardchallenges

Christmas wreath with bells

What do you see? We’d love for you to design a card and post it in our gallery.

I wanted to hang my wreath on a beautiful wood background, so I chose my favorite wood texture from In Good Taste Designer Paper, 4″ X 5 1/4″.  This was layered on Gray Granite Cardstock, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

I debated about the circle of leaves, but ended up choosing Shaded Spruce Cardstock and a pattern from Forever Greenery Designer Paper. The circular die used for cutting is from the Wreath Builder Die Set, and I cut one, leafy, circle from each paper. The patterned paper added nice variation to the leaves, don’t you think?

Before gluing the wreath to the wood, I prepared my sentiment,”Blessed Christmas wishes,” from the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set. I stamped it in Crumb Cake Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, and used the smallest Stitched Rectangles Die for cutting. The most difficult part of the card was placing the sentiment among the leaves, while attaching it with Mini-Dimensionals.

That cute bow was also made with a Wreath Builder Die. I experimented with six different colors, and ended up with plain white. LOL! I didn’t want it to upstage those three, adorable bells at the bottom of the wreath. They were made with a Sounds Of The Season Die and Brushed Metallic Paper.

Stamping Sunday Blog Hop Designing with Designer Paper

Today’s Stamping Sunday Blog Hop is all about designing with Designer Paper. How fun! The Heartwarming Hugs Designer Paper speaks to me, because I love traditional, red & green for Christmas. And, the super good news is that it’s on sale, 15% off during the month of October. You can see the details below.

By Su Mohr for Stamping Sunday Blog Hop; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Heart Warming Hugs Designer Paper, Pine Tree Punch, Little Treat Box Does, Little Treats Stamp Set, Winter Snow embossing, Curvy Dies, Red Braided Linen Trim; #treatboxes #3Dprojects #christmascards #hoidaycards #holiday2020 #christmastrees #pinetrees #treesoncards #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #curvydies #heartwarminghugs #littletreatbox #cardmaking #papercrafting

Heartwarming Hugs

The Little Treat Box is cute inside and out, because of the beautiful pattern on both sides of the paper. I used a 6″ X 7″ piece of DSP, because I wanted the checks to be straight, but the die fits at an angle on 6″ X 6″ paper.

The great thing about this Little Treat Box Die is that it does all the cutting and scoring for you, making it a cinch to put together. After rolling through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, just fold on the score lines, insert the two tabs, tie a bow at the top, and you’re done.

I tied the Little Treat Box at the top with Red Braided Linen Trim, which happens to be my October gift (details below).

If you want it to stay together after opening, just add a few tiny dots of glue on the tabs and sides.

I’m just imagining all the uses: place settings, ornaments, gift holders for chocolate, coins, or even better, rolled up paper money.

It’s fun to pair the Little Treat Box with a card to match. I used the Pine Tree Punch to cut three trees from three different patterns of Heartwarming Hugs Designer Paper, backed them with cardstock for thickness, and placed them on Dimensionals.

The curved snowbank was created with a new Curvy Die, which cut Whisper White Cardstock (5 1/4″ X 4″) in two pieces. I’m just giving you a “sneak peek,” because this die won’t be available for customers until November 3rd. However, if you’d like to join my Dream Makers Team, you can put the Curvy Bundle in your Starter Kit!

I embossed the top half with the Winter Snow Embossing Folder, and glued the two pieces to a Mossy Meadow card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

“Ho Ho Ho, Merry Christmas” is from the Little Treats Stamp Set, stamped in Real Red Ink, and cut with a Little Treat Box Die. Aren’t the scalloped sides cute?

The papers look so pretty together, I decorated the envelope with an additional pattern. After gluing a section of Designer Paper (5 3/4″ X 2 1/4″) to the flap, I used the flap as a guide for my scissors.

For more inspiration, the Stamping Sunday designers are excited to share their ideas with you. Clicking on their names will take you to their blogs.
