Christmas Bells

I couldn’t wait to cut the bells from Brushed Metallic Cardstock! Aren’t they beautiful? The bits of pine are also in the Sounds Of The Season Die Set, which I cut from Shaded Spruce Cardstock.

For the background, I found some Ornate Garden Designer Paper in Mint Macaron with a touch of gold to go with the bells. An Ornate Layers Die was used for cutting, and I glued this to a Thick Whisper White card base 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

“Merry Christmas” is from the Cherish The Season Stamp Set, stamped in Shaded Spruce Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, 5 1/2″ X 1″. After embossing it with the Subtle Textured Embossing Folder, I tucked it under the bottom of the Ornate Layer.

The last step was attaching the bells with Dimensionals. The leaves on the largest bell will remain intact, because I placed Dimensionals behind them. Otherwise, they would come out, like the bell in the middle.

I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.

Quite Curvy “Sneak Peek”

As soon as I saw the curves in this week’s CAS(E) this sketch, I knew I had to play with the new Curvy Bundle. And, I mean, really new, because I just received my pre-order, and it isn’t available to customers until November 3rd. So, this is a “sneak peek” to whet your appetite.

By Su Mohr for cts; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Quite Curvy Stamp Set, Curvy Dies, Ornate Floral embossing; #quitecurvy #curvydies #quitecurvybundle #sneakpeek #birdsoncards #thinkingofyoucards #friendshipcards #cardsketches #cardchallenges #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting

Quite Curvy

The first thing I did was stamp the ivy from the Quite Curvy Stamp Set in Shaded Spruce Ink on Whisper White Cardstock. Then, I used a Sponge Dauber and Garden Green Ink for a quick coloring job. After coloring, I ran it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with its Curvy Die, and out came my beautiful ivy.

I knew it would look pretty against white, so I cut a piece of Whisper White Cardstock (4″ X 5 1/4″), and embossed it with the Ornate Floral Embossing Folder. This was layered on a Soft Sea Foam card base.

Next, I added more curves to the corner with another Curvy Die, and Soft Sea Foam Cardstock (4 ” X 5 1/4″). The die cut the paper in two pieces, and I glued the bottom half to the white, embossed, cardstock. I didn’t glue the cut-out edge, so the ivy could be tucked beneath it.

The sentiment is from the Quite Curvy Stamp Set, which I stamped in Garden Green Ink. The stamps are photopolymer, so they are bendable, and great for curves.

The last detail was the cute, little birds. I had a tough time stamping and cutting them, so I reversed the order, and they came out perfectly aligned. It worked, because the stamps are photopolymer, and you can see through them. There are three birds in the set, but I cut two from Soft Sea Foam Cardstock, stamped them in Garden Green Ink, added a bit of color with a Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Write, and attached them with Mini-Dimensionals.

Now you see the sketch that was my inspiration.

The Quite Curvy Bundle is so new, it can’t be seen in my Product List, so here’s a picture of it. Nanny the Goat Makes A Card

The theme of the day is “farm animals,” so Nanny, the goat, had to get in on the action. She wanted to make a card “for a very special someone.”

Nanny said I would find her in the Way To Goat Stamp Set, and I would recognize her because she was dancing. Sure enough, there she was, ready to be stamped in Memento Black Ink on Whisper White Cardstock.

She told me that Crumb Cake was her most flattering color, so I used my Light and Dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends for coloring. Next, I used Paper Snips to cut her free from the paper. She complained it tickled, and took too long, but was happy when I added grass and handed her the flower.

The flower is from the Special Someone Stamp Set, stamped in Garden Green Ink, and cut with a Special Day Die. A Special Day Die was also used for the grass, cut from Garden Green Cardstock.

For her background, we started with a Crumb Cake card base to match her fur. Then, we used the largest Stitched Rectangles Die to cut a selection of Plaid Tidings Designer Paper. Nanny wanted to stand out, so our solution was to cut a hole in the middle of the plaid, and place white behind it. The hole was cut with a Stitched Rectangles Die, 1 3/4″ X 3 1/4″, and the Whisper White cardstock was 2 1/2″ X 4. We glued the white to the middle of the card base, but rather than leaving the plaid flat, Nanny wanted to raise it on strips of a Foam Adhesive Sheet. That meant she needed to be raised on foam pieces also, but we both liked the dimension this created, and felt it was worth it.

Last, but not least, Nanny wanted to use a bubble for her sentiment from the Special Someone Stamp Set, so the recipient would know she was the one speaking. I stamped, “for a very special someone,” in Early Espresso Ink, and used A Special Day Die for cutting.

At the last minute, we dotted the center of the flower with a Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker.

There’s nothing like having a happy, dancing, card making, goat in your craft room!

I was inspired by the theme at Fusion, farm animals.

Ornate Framed Butterfly

Today’s card required using certain colors, black, orange, and reddish purple, named by Stampin’ Up as Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, and Rich Razzleberry. Normally, I would think of Halloween, but my idea morphed into a butterfly card.

By Su Mohr for TGIF; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Butterfly Wishes Stamp Set, Ornate Layers Dies, Greenery Embossing; #birthdaycards #congratulationscards #butterflycards #butterfliesoncards #butterflies #ornatelayers #colorcombos #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting

Butterfly Wishes

I began with a card base of Thick Whisper White Cardstock, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. This was layered with Basic Black Cardstock, 3 1/4″ X 4 3/4″. Next, a layer of Whisper White Cardstock, cut with an Ornate Layers Die, the one that’s approximately the same size as the Black Cardstock.

Next, I embossed the white layer with a Greenery Embossing Folder. It left a nice space to stamp my butterfly from the Butterfly Wishes Stamp Set. I stamped it in Rich Razzleberry Ink, and colored it with a Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blend.

The sentiment, “It’s your time to shine,” is from the Daisy Lane Stamp Set, stamped in Memento Black Ink, and cut with the smallest Stitched Rectangles Die.

Before attaching the sentiment with Mini-Dimensionals, I added some black dots, using a stamp from the Whale Done Stamp Set.

I was inspired by TGIF.

Rocky Raccoon’s Get Well Card

Rocky Raccoon said he needed to send a get well card, with a special balloon, that was sure to make someone feel better.

By Su Mohr for PP; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog fior details! Featuring: Special Someone Stamp Set, Special Day Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Tasteful Textile embossing, Plaid Tidings Designer Paper; #getwellcards #animalsoncards #raccoons #balloonsoncards #specialsomeone #twostepstamping #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #fallcritters #cardthemes #cardchallenges #stampinup

Rocky Raccoon

The first thing I needed to do was stamp Rocky, from the Special Someone Stamp Set, in Early Espresso Ink. I placed him on the Stamparatus, because this is a “two-step” stamp set, and  I would need to stamp a second stamp on top of him to color his fur. I used Crumb Cake Ink on the second stamp, and Rocky thought I did a good job. In fact, he said he didn’t even mind being smashed twice. The most uncomfortable part was rolling him through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with his Special Day Die, and he said “enough is enough.”

The next question was, could I make his balloon without popping it? Using the same Stamparatus, “two-step” process, and Special Day Die, Rocky had his beautiful, Pretty Peacock, balloon, filled with “heal-i-um.”

Next, I stamped the balloon’s string in Memento Black Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, cut with the 4th largest Stitched Rectangles Die, 2 1/2″ X 4″. I gave it some texture with the Tasteful Texture Embossing Folder. This was layered on Plaid Tidings Designer Paper, cut with the largest Stitched Rectangles Die. Rocky chose this pattern, because of the beautiful Fall colors.

Incidentally, all of the Plaid Tidings Designer Paper is beautiful, and the great news is, it’s on sale during the month of October! See the details below.

Rocky wanted the card base to match his balloon, so we went with Pretty Peacock.

I stamped the sentiment, “This balloon is special…” and “it’s filled with heal-ium!” in Memento Black Ink, and used the smallest Stitched Rectangles Die for cutting. After gluing the balloon to the top rectangle, and Rocky’s feet to the bottom rectangle, I attached them with Dimensionals.

I was inspired by the Paper Players. Rocky said he was definitely a Fall critter.

“Thank You For The Birds That Sing”

As I was making today’s card, my family’s meal time prayer came to mind:

Thank you for the world so sweet, thank you for the food we eat, thank you for the birds that sing, thank you, God, for everything.”

You might think the prayer would become meaningless, because of the constant repetition, but it doesn’t. It brings about  a calm and peaceful atmosphere, every time. And, the funny thing is, we have a yard full of chirping birds. So, my family will understand the meaning, and humor, behind this Thanksgiving card.

By Su Mohr for GDP261; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Arrange A Wreath Bundle, Birds & Branches Bundle, Textured Essentials Stamp Set, Stitched So Sweetly Dies, Tasteful Textile embossing; #gdp261 #globaldesignproject #birds #birdsoncards #colorcombos #cardchallenges #thanksgivingcards #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #stampinup #holiday2020

“…birds that sing…”

The colors are from this week’s Global Design Project. I had everything stamped and cut in all three colors, and decided this was my favorite arrangement.

The card base is Mint Macaron, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, layered with Whisper White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″.

Before gluing the white layer to the cards base, I stamped the middle with Mint Macaron Ink, using a stamp from the Textured Essentials Stamp Set. I also gave it texture with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder.

Next, I used a Birds & More Die to cut a branch from Cajun Craze Cardstock. The three flowers are from the Wreath Builder Die Set, cut from Pumpkin Pie Cardstock. There are some dots on the branch that made handy spots for gluing the flowers.

I stamped the bird, and his feet, from the Birds & Branches Stamp Set in Pumpkin Pie Ink, and used the Birds & More Dies for cutting. After gluing his feet in place, I positioned him on the branch with a Dimensional. The stamps and dies come in a Bundle for a 10 % savings, which you can see in my Product List below.

“Give thanks” is from the Arrange A Wreath Stamp Set (also in a bundle), stamped in Cajun Craze Ink, and cut with a Stitched So Sweetly Die. I was happy how this die fit the sentiment perfectly!
