What do you do when you don’t have a current stamp set to fit the theme of a challenge? You use the Playful Alphabet Dies!

Why school?
The first thing I did was place “S-C-H-O-O-L” on Pretty Peacock Cardstock (4 1/2″ X 1 1/4″), which was adhered to a Foam Adhesive Sheet, the same size. I rolled this through my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, and turned it upside down for a second time through, making sure it had a clean cut.

I matched my letters to Plaid Tidings Designer Paper, which was predominately Pretty Peacock, and glued a 4 1/4″ X 3″ piece to the bottom of Whisper White Cardstock that was 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″. This layer needed to be the same size as the card front, so it could be easily cut by the largest Stitched Rectangles Die.

Before gluing the layer to the Pretty Peacock card base, I gave it some interest with the Subtle Textured Embossing Folder.
The sentiment, from The Nothing’s Better Than Stamp Set, “Because adulting is hard,” makes me laugh. It was meant to go with “coffee, cocktails. cookies, and chocolate,” but I like it used as a message to kids. Funny, but true!

Today’s card developed from something I took out of the trash. Yes, it’s true. “School” was left-over from the letters I cut for a card I am posting on my blog tomorrow. But, I made use of the “waste,” having fun with an additional definition of the word, “school”…of fish.

School of Fish
The predominate piece of the card, “SCHOOL,” is what was left-over after cutting the letters for their intended purpose. It’s a 4 1/2″ X 1 1/4″ piece of Pretty Peacock Cardstock adhered to a Foam Adhesive Sheet.

I had no trouble finding my school of fish in the Whale Of A Time Designer Paper, and cut a square, 4″ X 4″. The seaweed on the right side is 1″ X 4″. Both were glued to a Pretty Peacock card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.
The sentiment is from from the Whale Done Stamp Set, and perfect for my card, “hoping all your birthday fishes come true.” It was just the right size to fit within a Stitched So Sweetly Die. I stamped it in Pretty Peacock Ink on another piece of the Whale Of A Time Designer Paper, and attached it with Dimensionals.

Mr. Turtle didn’t want to be left out of the birthday card, so I cut him from the same paper. He’s quite happy, swimming with the fish.

Come back tomorrow to see how I used the letters “S-C-H-O-O-L.”
I used Fusion’s sketch for today’s card.

When I saw the TGIF challenge this morning, I couldn’t wait to use the color combination! The soft pink and green looked startlingly beautiful against black, and I had the perfect Wreath Builder Dies to make a wreath. You can see the inspiration below my instructions for today’s card.

Sympathy Wreath
The first thing I did was use two Wreath Builder Dies to cut the wreath from Soft Sea Foam Cardstock and Blushing Bride Cardstock.
I positioned the wreath in the middle of Basic Black Cardstock (4″ X 5 1/4″) and stared at it for a long time, while thinking about a sentiment to place at the top. The card spoke “sympathy” to me, so I found “With Deepest Sympathy” in the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set. The sentiment was awkward above the wreath, but luckily, it fit perfectly in the center.
I stamped the sentiment in VersaMark on the black cardstock, sprinkled it with White Powder, and set it with the heat tool. As I glued the wreath in place, I took care in turning it, so the leaves weren’t covering the letters.

Before gluing the black layer to the Thick Whisper White card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″), I added a detailed edge with a Lasting Elegance Die. I love how this makes my card look complete.

Well, almost complete, because I added three white flowers to the wreath with tiny pearls at the centers. The Wreath Builder Die Set has three little dies, so they can be cut at the same time.

Here is the TGIF challenge that inspired my card today. Be sure to look at Tami Hewlett’s gorgeous card, when you click here.

Now, for today’s Christmas card. The card base is Thick Whisper White Cardstock, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, topped with wood textured, In Good Taste Designer Paper. I cut the circular, leafy hole with a Birds & More Die. This is a wonderful die set that comes in a bundle with the Birds & Branches Stamp Set. You can see the complete Bundle in my Product List Below.

Christmas Bird
Next, I stamped the sweet bird in Cherry Cobbler Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, and used her Birds & More Die for cutting. Do you see her little feet? I stamped them in Early Espresso Ink, cut with their die, and glued them in place.

The sentiment, “believe” is from the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set, stamped in Mossy Meadow Ink, and cut with the smallest Stitched So Sweetly Die. I “tied” it to the top of the circle with a bow created with Heartwarming Hugs Designer Paper, and a Wreath Builders Die. I just love this paper bow!

I can’t “believe” I forgot to put the Heartwarming Hugs Designer Paper in my Product List. Here it is, and you can click on it for details.

Today’s Thanksgiving card began with the idea of using the Love of Leaves Bundle, and what followed was determined by two challenges.

Stitched Leaves
The card base is Pretty Peacock (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″), layered with Blackberry Bliss Cardstock (5 1/4″ X 4 “), and a final layer of Whisper White Cardstock (5 ” X 3 3/4″). Layering this way gives you nice, 1/8″ borders.
Before gluing the layers together, I used the unusual, Stitched Leaves Die, for the background.

Next, I stamped the leaves, from the Love of Leaves Stamp Set, in three ink colors: Pretty Peacock, Cajun Craze, and Blackberry Bliss. I used their dies for cutting, as well and adding the stitching. This is really fun to do, and makes this set unique!

The one, longer leaf, is used as a resting place for the sentiment from the Country Home Stamp Set, which I stamped in Pretty Peacock Ink. After fussy cutting (hand cutting) “Happy harvest blessings,” I glued it to the top of the leaf.
When all of the leaves were attached with Dimensionals, I added three sequins for some “glitter.” It’s amazing how the colors of the Woven Threads Sequins blend!

Here are the two challenges:
The sketch from Fab Friday.

And, the colors from the Paper Players.

When a black lab, named “Coop,” needs to be featured on a A Christmas card, this happens:

Coop
I began today’s card by using the Dog Punch to cut Coop from Basic Black Cardstock. His fur was made by rolling him through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder. He loves the way his fur turned out, and didn’t seem to mind.

Coop’s Santa hat is from the Little Treats Bundle. The main part of this bundle is an adorable box that can be created from a 6X6 piece of cardstock from one die-cut, but it has lots of fun “extras” too. You can see the bundle by clicking on the picture in my Product List below. You’ll save 10% by purchasing the bundle, but the stamp set and die set can be purchased separately.
Back to the hat, which I stamped in Real Red ink on Whisper White Cardstock, and cut with its die. I used an X-ACTO knife to make the slit in the hat, so Coop could wear it comfortably, with a tiny bit of glue to secure it. I punched a second dog to give him thickness, and placed him on Dimensionals.

For his background, the card base is Real Red Cardstock (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″), and topped with Playful Pets Designer Paper (4″ X 5 1/4″). Coop liked the idea of paw prints and red hearts.
The red and white stripe (1 1/2″ X4 1/4″) is also Playful Pets Designer Paper. The black and white (1 1/2″ X 2 1/2″) is Plaid Tidings Designer Paper, and the Whisper White Cardstock is 1 1/2″ X 1 3/4″.
Coop wanted to say, Thinking of you at Christmas,” which we found in the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set, and stamped it in Real Red Ink on the white square.
I thought the card was complete, but Coop wanted a red bow, so we cut from Real Red Cardstock with a Happy Die.

The layout was inspired by TGIF.
