I am so excited about my new counter height desk/table. I spent time researching possibilities, and am very pleased with this selection from officefurniture.com, which included free shipping.

Counter Height Desk
The main drawback was that it had to be assembled, and the reason I put off purchasing for a while. My sweet husband said that he would put it together for me, so I pushed the submit order button. When it arrived, it was in a very, heavy box (yes, it’s sturdy), and in a million pieces. I know I’m exaggerating, but my husband said it would make a nice Christmas gift.

With Simba, as his helper, he put it together in two days, and I’m thrilled I didn’t have to wait until Christmas. I must say, he’s good at reading directions.
It’s set up as my cutting and embossing station, with my Stampin’ Cut and Emboss Machine on the left and my Paper Trimmer on the right. Rather than standing and bending at the waist over a standard height desk, I can now stand comfortably, which is much easier on the back.

This is the manufacturer’s photo which shows the nice detailing on the side.

I’m a very happy stamper, yes indeed! This beauty is a card maker’s dream!

It’s Monday, and time for the Global Design Project’s team to inspire you!
I love this dotted 6X6 Designer Paper, and it comes in all the Stampin’ Up! colors. You get two sheets each, of 4 designs, in every color collection. This is Soft Suede from the Neutrals Collection. You can take a closer look at the papers in my Product List below. I used a Stitched Rectangles Die (4 1/4″ X 3″) for cutting, backed it for thickness, and placed it on Dimensionals.
Next, I attached the dotted layer to a Thick Whisper White card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″), which I embossed with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder.

Sunflower for a friend
But, now, let’s talk about the sunflower. It’s from the Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set, which I stamped in Early Espresso Ink on Whisper White Cardstock.
Then, I colored it with Stampin’ Blends in these colors: Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Old Olive and Bronze. I stamped, and colored, the leaves the same way, and cut all three with their Sunflowers Dies.

“Friend” is from the Daisy Lane Stamp Set, stamped in Early Espresso Ink, on Whisper White Cardstock, and cut with a Stitched Rectangles Die (2 1/2″ X 1″).
I taped Linen Thread to the back of the sentiment, before attaching it with Dimensionals, and tied a knot on the front.

We hope you find our designs inspirational. Use the Global Design Project sketch, then post your creations in our gallery.

All the fruit is delicious right now, including pineapples!

Aloha Pineapple
I wish I had taken a picture of this pineapple before cutting into it, because it looked exactly like my card. You’ll have to take my word for it!

In The Tropics Dies are perfect for making this paper pineapple. I simply cut the top from Forever Greenery Designer Paper. The die comes with little cuts, so you can push out the paper, making it 3D.
I spent a little more time with the bottom of the pineapple, sponging Granny Apple Green Ink on Whisper White Cardstock. Next, I stamped a pattern from the Textured Essentials Stamp Set in Cinnamon Cider Ink on top of it. Finally, I used the pineapple die for cutting, and voila, or “aloha,” you have a delicious paper pineapple.

The pineapple needed to sit someplace, so I used an Ornate Layers Die to cut a shelf from Garden Green Cardstock. And, I wrote “aloha” with another die that’s part of the In The Tropics set.

I’m not sure what the two white boards are doing, but aren’t they cute? They are part of the Fusion sketch. And, you can see the theme is fruit.

I used two embossing folders (Tasteful Textile and Greenery) with the two smallest Stitched Rectangles Dies to give the boards character.
My “still life” was completed by gluing everything on a Thick Whisper White card base.
Now I’m going to eat some pineapple. Yum!

Fall is all about rich colors, leaves and thanks. Thinking of Fall, and a sketch challenge, brought about today’s design.

Plaid Leaf
I began by selecting this fabulous, Madras looking plaid, from the pack of 6X6 Plaid Tidings Designer Paper. You can see all of the plaids in my Product List below.
I trimmed the plaid paper to 4″ X 5 1/4″, and used the largest Layering Circles Die to cut the circle on the left side.

A Stitched Leaves Die was used to cut the leaf from the plaid, cut-out circle. I cut a second leaf from Whisper White Cardstock, glued them together on the stem side, leaving the right side of the leaf free, so it could lift.

I glued the Plaid Tidings Paper and the leaf to a Blackberry Bliss card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″).
For a touch of bling, I wrote “thanks” with a Well Written Die and the new Brushed Metallic Cardstock. Isn’t it gorgeous? And, I couldn’t help but add some Brushed Metallic to the leaf. That cute little die is also a Well Written Die.

I was inspired by CAS(E) this sketch.

The Whale Of A Time Designer Paper is so pretty, it’s easy to make a great card with very few supplies. I used two plain patterns for today’s card, but you should check out all the designs by clicking on the picture in my Product List below.
The “play on words” makes this card especially fun, and suitable for a guy, especially if he likes to fish!

Birthday fishes
I began by cutting a strip of Whale Of A Time Designer Paper 4 1/2″ X 2″, in the Pool Party color. Then, to make it even narrower, I used an Ornate Layers Die for cutting the top and bottom. It’s hard to explain, so I took a picture.

Prior to cutting the strip, I stamped a bunch of little fish, from the Whale Done Stamp Set, in Mango Melody Ink. After cutting, I glued the strip to the dark, blue, ocean (4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″). The ends hang over a bit, which allows you to cut the entire piece with the largest Ornate Layers Die, shown in the first picture.

Now, the ocean is ready to glue to the Pool Party card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″).

The sentiment is from the Whale Done Stamp Set, stamped in Melon Mambo Ink on the same Pool Party designer paper, and cut with an Ornate Frames Die. The fish are very clever, because they can swim in either direction, but they wanted to go this way. I used an Ornate Frames Die to cut the sentiment’s frame was from Pool Party Cardstock, glued the two together, and attached to the card front with Dimensionals.

My inspiration was from two challenges: the colors are from the Paper Players…

…and, the layout is from Freshly Made Sketches.

Aug 12, 2020 | Gallery, Hand-Crafted Cards, Pals Blog Hop |

Hello, welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month our Design Team is showcasing “My Happiest Season.” We hope you enjoy and will be inspired by them! Don’t forget to leave comments! We love hearing from you. At the end of my post, you will find the full line-up to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.
I can’t let a year go by without making my favorite Gift Card Holders. It’s always exciting, when using new products from the latest catalog. Today’s selection was created with Mr. Moose and his favorite plaid paper. He thinks he’s more attractive than the reindeer I used last year, and wanted in on the action. Please agree, because I don’t want to see him sulking.

Moose Gift Card Holders
INSTRUCTIONS:
Cut an 8 1/2″ X 11″ piece of cardstock in half. It makes two gift cards that are 7 3/4″ X 5″. Score at 6″ and 2 1/2″.
To coordinate with the plaid, I used three colors of cardstock: Cherry Cobbler, Sahara Sand, and Shaded Spruce.
The 7 3/4″ X 1″ strip on the side becomes the band around the gift card holder. If you want to conserve paper, you could cut the 3/4″ strip first (shown on the bottom in pieces), and use it for the second band. However, I prefer the 1″ width.
The band is scored at 6 1/8″ and 2 1/2″. You want that extra 1/8 inch on the scoring, so the band will slide off and on easily.

Cut two pieces of Designer Series Paper: The bottom front is 4 3/4″ X 2 1/4″. The top front is 4 3/4″ X 1 1/2″.

Cut one piece of Whisper White cardstock for the sentiment on the inside, 4 3/4″ X 1 1/2″.

Use the 1 1/2″ Circle Punch to make a finger slot in the middle of the bottom front.
Attach a piece of Tear & Tape to each side of the bottom (inside), and close, sealing your pocket.

Decorate the bands with Mr. Moose, please! He likes his Early Espresso Cardstock fur best, but wanted to show off a variety of fur by using the In Good Taste Designer Paper.
TIP: Glue the band with the raw edge in front. This will be covered by Mr. Moose, which keeps the back looking smooth and pretty.
I layered Mr. Moose for thickness, and used a piece of Tear & Tape to hold him securely.

Stampin’ Up’s Paper Trimmer was used for measuring, cutting, and scoring. It helps to have the right tools!

More inspiration awaits! Use the Blog Hop Line-up below to visit the rest of this month’s Design Team. My fellow Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Mark your calendars for our next blog hop on September 9th when our theme is “It’s the Sentiment that Counts.” The Design Team will showcase a sentiment as the focal point of their project. Don’t miss the fun! Until then, please stay safe and have fun in your craft room.
