Robin’s Stenciled Perch

The Sisterhood of Crafters Design Team’s theme is “favorite techniques,” and today I selected “stenciling”and “dry embossing.” It gave Robin a perfect place to perch, with texture to make him happy.

This is a “sneak peek” of products you can order beginning June 3rd, so just one more week!

By Su Mohr for the Sisterhood of Crafters Design Team; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Robin’s stenciled perch

The circle was stenciled with a Birds & More Die, which I first cut from a 4″ X 5 1/4″ piece of Whisper White Cardstock. Then, I placed WW Cardstock, the same size, beneath the die-cut piece, and applied Shaded Spruce Ink with a Sponge Dauber. That’s all there was to it!

To add texture, I used the new, Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder, which is just the right amount, don’t you think? Robin likes it!

The stenciling is the background for the main attraction, sweet, little, Robin. He’s from the Birds & Branches Stamp Set, stamped in Early Espresso Ink, and cut with a Birds & More Die. His breast was colored with a Light Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blend. How do you like the way he’s raised on Dimensionals, and perched on the branch? I stamped his feet first, and then glued the die-cut branch in place.

The Birds & Branches Stamp Set and Birds & More Dies can be ordered separately, or in a bundle, which you can see in my Product List below. You should check out all the stamps and dies you will get. I highly recommend the bundle, because there’s a 10% savings.

“Hello” is from the Country Home Stamp Set, stamped in Early Espresso Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, and yes, fussy cut. I thought it was worth it, because Robin wanted to tack it to the branch.

Showered With Love

Under My Umbrella is such a fun stamp set, especially when used with the Umbrella Builder Punch. And, there’s a new stamp set, Pretty Parasol (p. 44 in the 2020-2021 catalog) that coordinates with the punch, which you can order beginning June 3rd.

How do you like the embossing on the Thick Whisper White card base? I used a new embossing folder, Tasteful Textile, which is also available June 3rd.

By Su Mohr for Paper Players and Fab Friday; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Showered with love

The Call Me Clover and Whisper White Cardstock layers were created using two Stitched Rectangles Dies. I glued the layers together and raised them on the card base with strips of Dimensionals; you know, those left-over edges.

I made the umbrella with a stamp from Under My Umbrella and a scrap of Pineapple Punch Designer Paper. After stamping the umbrella in Memento Black Ink, I used the Umbrella Builder Punch for cutting, and layered it for thickness.

The shower of hearts was made with a Stitched Be Mine Die and scraps of cardstock in three colors: Blushing Bride, Flirty Flamingo, and Melon Mambo. The larger hearts are on Mini-Dimensionals, and the smaller ones are glued flat.

“Showered with love” is from Under My Umbrella, stamped in Memento Black Ink, and cut with a Stitched Rectangles Die.

TIP: I made the sentiment label shorter by using a larger die to cut one end.

My layout is from the Paper Players.

My colors are from Fab Friday. Two of the colors are retiring; Call Me Clover and Pineapple Punch. Click on the Last Chance Products below to see if they are still available.

GDP Design Team #GDP242

I am thrilled to announce that I’ve been asked to join the Global Design Project’s Design Team! I’ve been participating in their challenges for three years, and have received tremendous inspiration from the designers.

The challenges begin every Monday morning, and I hope to see you join in the fun! Isn’t this week’s sketch inspiring? Clicking on this sketch will take you to the site where you can see the other designer’s samples, and then, you can enter your project in the gallery.

For my first project as a designer, I wanted to give you a “sneak peek” of the new Birds & Branches Bundle. If you like birds on cards, you are going to love this bundle. You can order (June 3rd) the stamps and dies separately, but I recommend the bundle, because you’ll save 10%. You can see both options in my Product List below.

I used this die to cut from Thick Whisper White Cardstock, and snipped some branches, so more of the pretty Forever Greenery DSP would show through the circle.

By Su Mohr for #GDP242; Featuring: Birds & Branches Bundle, Pinewood Planks embossing, Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set; #GDP242 #designteam #Globaldesignproject #cardchallenges #cardsketches #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #birdsoncards #birds&branches

Bird’s little hello

The circle die is amazing! I cut the circle from the middle of 5 1/4″ X 4″ Whisper White Cardstock, and then embossed it with the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder.

Next, I cut the Forever Greenery DSP a spec smaller, and glued the two together. This was glued to a Soft Sea Foam card base.

I stamped my bird with two stamps, one on top of the other, in Pretty Peacock Ink and Shaded Spruce Ink, and used the Birds & More Die for cutting. Before placing him on his perch, I stamped his feet in Early Espresso Ink on the Forever Greenery DSP.

“A little hello” is from the Itty Bitty greetings Stamp Set, stamped in Garden Green Ink, and cut with the Classic Label Punch.

Ornate Garden Daisies

This field of daisies will surely bring some cheer to a friend. You can see all of the ingredients in my Product List below.

By Su Mohr for cts; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Ornate layers Dies, Medium Daisy Punch, Ornate Thanks Stamp Set, Ornate Garden DSP, In Color 6X6 DSP; #friendshipcards #card sketches #ornate layers #ornategarden #daisies #daisiesoncards #flkowersoncards #daisypunch #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting

Ornate Daisies

It’s so much fun to use the Ornate Layers Dies! I used the larger die to frame a layer of Whisper White Cardstock on the Thick Whisper White card base. Then, the smaller, fancier die was used to cut a piece of Ornate Garden Designer Paper.

Next, I used the Medium Daisy Punch to cut two rounds of petals from Whisper White Cardstock, which I embossed with the Subtle Textured Embossing Folder. The daisy is resting on a strip of In Color 6X6 DSP in the new color, Bumble Bee. Don’t you love it?

The strip was cut with a third Ornate Layers Die, and the daisy’s center was cut with the retiring, 1/2″ Circle Punch, from the dotted paper. You may still find the 1/2″ Circle Punch in the Last-Chance Products.

“My friend” is from the Ornate Thanks Stamp Set, stamped in Early Espresso Ink, and cut with the Classic Label Punch.

My layout is from CAS(E) this sketch.

Tropical Adventure Greeting Card

I know we’re all feeling a bit homebound these days, so let’s use our imaginations, and go on a tropical vacation.

By Su Mohr for TGIF and Seize the B'day; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Tropical Oasis DSP, Coastal Weave embossing, Friendly Silhouettes Dies, Sweet Silhouettes Dies; #tropicalcards #tropicaloasis #adventure #travel #hawaii #classiccars #tropicalcards #traveloncards #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #friendlysilhouettes #sweetsilhouettes #stampinup

Tropical adventure

The “adventure” began with a Sweet Silhouettes Die, which I used to cut from a blue piece of Topical Oasis Designer Paper. (It’s the DSP I’m using for photography).

TIP: I backed the word with a retired piece of foil paper to give it thickness and extra strength to raise the curled “t.”

Next, I used a Stitched Rectangles Die to cut the classic woody car from another sheet of Tropical Oasis DSP. Isn’t it great?

To create the background, I used a Friendly Silhouettes Die to cut the palms and curved line from Whisper White Cardstock. Then, I used brown, Tropical Oasis DSP to cut the shape a second time, and glued the two together on a green piece of Tropical Oasis DSP.

Afterwards, I ran this through the embossing machine with the Coastal Weave embossing folder, and layered it on a card base of Old Olive.

The Tropical Oasis DSP and the Coastal Weave Embossing Folder are Last-Chance products, so please check to see if they are still available. You’ll find the link to the entire list of Last-Chance products at the bottom of this post.

Today’s card was inspired by the “travel” theme at TGIF,

and, the “tropical” theme at Seize the Birthday. Yes, this will be a birthday card, and suitable for a guy!

In Good Taste Masculine Card

You NEED this designer paper! I was having fun with the sunlight this morning, and couldn’t resist showing you how it plays on this realistic wood. This is just one of many designs of the new, In Good Taste DSP. If you click on the question mark in my Product List below, you can see all of the designs.

By Su Mohr for FMS; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: In Good Taste DSP, Forever Flourishing Dies, Ornate Thanks, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Braided Linen Trim; #ingoodtaste #woodoncards#masculinecards #fromallofus #birthdaycards #masculinebirthday #foreverflourishing #ornatethanks #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #

Sunlight on wood

I began by using the largest Stitched Rectangles Die to cut the first layer from the DSP, followed by cutting a second, smaller piece from the middle.

The middle piece was layered with cardstock for thickness, and placed on Foam Adhesive Strips. These are twice the height of Dimensionals, and I wanted the added dimension.

Before attaching the middle, I tied a piece of Braided Linen Trim around it, finished with a knot. It’s more masculine than a bow, right?

TIP: It’s held in place with tape on the back, and Mini Dots on the front.

For some color, I used a Forever Flourishing Die to cut a sprig from Garden Green cardstock.

This is a birthday card from a group of people, so I chose the sentiment from the Ornate Thanks Stamp Set, “from all of us.” It fit perfectly within the smallest Stitched Rectangles Die. I layered it for thickness, so it would be sturdy, hanging over the edge.

My layout is from Freshly Made Sketches.
