Bird Ballad Circle In A Square Card

For today’s project, I decided to make my first, square card, 4 1/4″ X 4 1/4″. And, why not keep it clean & simple?

Circle in a Square

The challenge at Freshly Made Sketches was my inspiration.

After cutting the Thick Whisper White, card base, I cut a 4″ X 4″ square from regular Whisper White cardstock for layering. Before gluing it to the card base, I wrapped a piece of Flax Ribbon around the middle, adhering it with Tear&Tape.

Keeping it simple, I used a Layering Circles Die to cut a circle from the beautiful Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper. Then, I cut a slightly larger, scalloped circle, from Soft Suede Cardstock to give the circle of DSP a border. This was fastened in the middle of my square, card front, with Dimensionals.

For the sentiment, I used “hello” from the Free As A Bird stamp set, stamped in Soft Suede Ink, and cut with the smallest, Stitched Nested Label Die. I placed it on Dimensionals, and my square, clean & simple, card was complete.

I’ll be making more square cards, and this size is really nice, because it fits in our medium envelopes.

Silhouette Scenes Seize The Birthday

Today is a special day, because this is my first design as a “Surprise Party Guest” at Seize the Birthday! I’m very honored to have this two month invitation.

My first design incorporates the topping, “sunshine.”

Ahhh, there’s nothing like the feeling of swinging. And, barefoot in the sunshine adds to the joy!

Swinging in the Sun

The Silhouette Scenes Stamp Set was my #1 pick from the new Stampin’ Up! Catalog. I adore the artwork, and the versatility within the stamp set, where I found this adorable, swinging, girl. I stamped her in Night of Navy Ink, along with “Happy Birthday,” using the Stamparatus to get the nice, deep, color.

Along with the stamp set is a fabulous, Sweet Silhouettes Die Set. Isn’t this tree gorgeous? It was very easily cut , using the die, from Whisper White cardstock. I used tiny dots of liquid glue to adhere it to the background.

Hours could have been spent creating the background, but I’ll let you in on a secret; I simply cut a section of the coordinating, 12X12, See A Silhouette Designer Series Paper.

All I did was make sure the sun was where I wanted it.

You can see details of the products I used by clicking on the pictures in my Product List, where you’ll be in my store for purchasing. If you purchase the stamp set and dies in the bundle, you’ll save 10%.

Thank you for visiting!  Please come by  Seize the Birthday to see how the designers used sunshine in their birthday cards. Then, join in the fun by posting your card in the gallery!

Sweet Silhouettes Dandelion Sympathy Card

Today’s sympathy card is featuring two, Sweet Silhouettes, dandelions.

By Su Mohr for GDP and TGIF; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Sweet Silhouettes Dies, Well Written Dies, Subtle Texture embossing, Rectangles Stitched Dies, Well Said Stamp set; #sympathycards #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #sweetsilhouettes #wellwritten #wellsaid #cardchallenges

Dandelion Sympathy

The dandelions were cut from Vellum Cardstock with a Sweet Silhouettes Die, and lightly glued to a Basic Gray Cardstock background. I wanted the dandelions to have an “airy” feel, and the Vellum was perfect for the task. It’s surprising how strong Vellum is!

The teardrops are from a retired pack of epoxy drops, and the shape is so perfect, I had to use them.  I’ve listed the new pack of Epoxy Droplets in my Product List.

The Basic Gray background is embossed with Subtle Texture, glued to the Smoky Slate card base, and framed with a piece of 6X6 Seaside Spray Designer Series Paper. The frame and background were made with Stitched Rectangles Dies.

The word,”sympathy,” is from the Well Written Die Set, cut from Smoky Slate Cardstock, and doubled for thickness. The sentiment is continued on the inside with words from the Well Said Stamp Set, “Know that love, prayers, and caring surround you today.”

I completed the envelope by embossing the flap with the Eyelet Lace Embossing Folder, so it’s ready to send.

Two challenges were on my mind as I made today’s card.

I appreciate you stopping by, and thank you for shopping at my store!

Dino Days Card Says “You’re RAWRsome!”

Today’s Dino Days card begins with triangles, a sketch, and certain colors on my mind.

By Su Mohr for Fusion; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Dino Days stamp set, Dino Dies, 6X6 Designer Paper; #dinodays #dinosaurs #dinosaursoncards #cardsforkids #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #cardsketches #cardchallenges #wordplay

You’re RAWRsome!

The Fusion challenge has me thinking about these things. Do you see the sketch, triangles, dark gray, light gray, white, and yellow?

The Basic Gray card base is layered with Whisper White Cardstock, a 6X6 Daffodil Delight Designer Paper, and a 2″ strip of Smoky Slate Cardstock.

The Smoky Slate strip has tiny triangles, cut with one of the Dino Dies (three times), and is layered on Whisper White Cardstock. I stamped “You’re RAWRsome!” in Memento Black Ink. This is one of several, very cute, sentiments in the Dino Days Stamp set.

My Dino is stamped in Smoky Slate Ink on Thick Whisper White cardstock, and cut with his matching Dino Die. The “triangles” across his back are stamped in Daffodil Delight Ink, cut with its matching die, and glued to Dino. Dino is placed on Dimensionals, and my card is complete.

You’ll find the Dino Days Bundle in my Product List, which is 10% less than buying the stamp set and dies separately. I highly recommend this bundle!

Thank you for visiting Dino today. He thinks “You’re RAWRsome!”

Sweet Silhouettes Dandelion Wish

Who doesn’t make a wish when they see a dandelion? How about three?

By Su Mohr for Seize the Birthday; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Dandelion Wish

Today’s card began by cutting three dandelions, from Thick Whisper White Cardstock, making them sturdy enough to raise on Dimensionals. I wasn’t sure how they would be used, but I couldn’t wait to break them out of the new, Sweet Silhouettes Die Set.

Knowing the dandelions would feel at home among earth tones, I chose a Mossy Meadow card base, topped with Daisy Lane Designer Series Paper. The leafy print coordinates with my dandelions, don’t you think?

Fortunately, the word “wish” was made available by the Hand-Lettered Prose Die Set, and it’s beautiful, cut from Noble Peacock Foil in Old Olive. This is just one of three gorgeous colors of foil, that you can see in my Product List.

“Wish” is flush to the card front, because I first cut the letters from the DSP, and then filled in the holes with the foil letters.

I discovered after making this card that the “h” is actually a “y.” Oh well, you might not have noticed, if I hadn’t said something. The added loop is very pretty!

To finish off the card, I tied the dandelion stems together with Linen Thread, securing them with Tear & Tape. Lastly, I added Glitter Enamel Dots to their centers for some extra pizzazz.

Since everyone needs to make a wish on their birthday, I’m sharing this card with Seize the Birthday. Plus, it qualifies for their “toppings,” because it “covers the card.”

I’ll be sharing another card with Seize the Birthday on Thursday, July 4th, because they’ve asked me to be a Party Guest Designer. I’m excited to share it with you too!

Thanks for stopping by. Now, birthday or not, make a wish!

Thank You Card for Paper Players Tic Tac Toe Challenge

Happy Sunday, everyone! Paper Players has a fun, Tic Tac Toe challenge for you this week, so I hope you’ll play along.

By Su Mohr for Paper Players Design Team; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Sweet Silhouettes Dies, Bird Ballad DSP, Pressed Petals DSP, Well Said Stamp Set, Merry Christmas Dies, Layered Leaves embossing, Subtle Texture embossing; #thankyoucards #sweetsilhouettes #birdballad #birds #woodtextures #trees #sweetsilhouettes #silhouettes #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #tictactoe

Wood Textured Tree

I chose the end row, “die-cut, pearls, wood,” to make my thank you card.

Stampin’ Up! has a beautiful sheet of wood textured paper in the Pressed Petals Designer Series Paper, so that was my starting point.

Next, I used the gorgeous tree from the Sweet Silhouettes Die Set to die-cut the “bush” from the wood textured paper.

The bird, perched on a limb, was fussy cut from a piece of Bird Ballad DSP.

For the background, I used a Rectangles Stitched Die to cut a piece of Whisper White Cardstock, which I embossed with the Subtle Textures Embossing Folder. Then, I cut a piece of Pool Party Cardstock to give it a border that matched my bird.

The card base is Thick Whisper White Cardstock that I embossed with the Layered Leaves Embossing Folder.

After gluing everything together, I chose the sentiment, “Thanks,” from the Well Written Stamp Set. I used a label die from the Merry Christmas Die Set, which is the perfect size for many, small, sentiments. It’s easy to overlook, if its stashed with your holiday sets.

And, if it wasn’t for the Tic Tac Toe challenge, I may have forgotten the pearls,“the icing on the cake!”

Thanks so much for visiting! I appreciate your support, and shopping in my store! Now, check out the Paper Player’s blogs to see how they used Tic Tac Toe.
