Today’s card began with a Soft Sea Foam card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Then, I used a Lifetime Of Love Die to cut a circle from Soft Sea Foam Cardstock, and glued it to Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″.

“Peace I give unto you”
Prior to gluing the layer, I stamped, “Peace I give unto you,” in Memento Black Ink. This sentiment is from the Easter Lilies Stamp Set, and I stamped, “Thinking of you this Easter,” on the inside, which is from the SAB stamp set, Heartfelt Hellos.
I used a second, Lifetime Of Love Die, to cut the flowers from three colors of cardstock: Basic White, Pumpkin Pie, and Flirty Flamingo. After gluing them in place, I added three, Iridescent Pearls to the full flowers.

The butterflies are Paper Butterfly Accents (my Host Code Gift this month), colored with a Blending Brush and two colors of ink: Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie. They are partially glued, leaving the wings free to fly. Be careful with the antennae; I almost lost one.

Arty the Alligator, from the Jungle Pals Stamp Set, jumped at the chance to be featured on a masculine birthday card. I made him come alive by stamping him in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock, and cutting him free. He said green and brown were colors that guys really liked, and wanted to be colored with Stampin’ Blends in Old Olive, Crumb Cake and Gray Granite.

Arty’s Masculine Card
To be camouflaged, he chose tall grass, cut with a Garden Meadow Die, from Old Olive Cardstock, 4″ X 2 1/4″.

Arty also wanted a background of Mossy Meadow Cardstock. I suggested a neat border, cut with the largest Perennial Postage Die.
To have the entire layer cut, I first glued the Old Olive grass to the Mossy Meadow background, 4″ X 5 1/4″.

We argued a bit about the color of the card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Arty wanted Crumb Cake, but I wanted Thick Basic White. He was willing to compromise, if I let him choose the sentiment. He found, “Hope your birthday is wild,” in the Rhino Ready Stamp Set, and said they wouldn’t mind if he borrowed it.
We stamped it in VersaMark on Mossy Meadow Cardstock, sprinkled it with White Embossing Powder, set it with the Heat Tool, and used a Perennial Postage Die for cutting. We layered it on Old Olive Cardstock, cut with a size larger Perennial Postage Die, and attached both with Dimensionals.
Arty’s final request was to add three Classic Matte Dots. He is excited to send this to a relative who has a home in Florida, and is visited by alligators on a regular basis.

This week’s Global Design Project is a theme challenge, all about balloons! I pulled out a stamp set from the 2023-2024 Annual Catalog that I haven’t used in a while, and remembered why I love the balloons in this stamp set; they have tiny stars!
I began by stamping three, large, balloons in three colors of ink: Bubble Bath, Lemon Lolly, and Lemon Lime Twist, on Basic White Cardstock, 3 3/4″ X 5″. Then, I stamped a tassel on each balloon, and backed the layer with Zoo Crew Designer Paper in a black & white pattern, 1/8″ larger.

Beautiful Balloons
Next, I used another pattern of Zoo Crew DSP and Foam Adhesive Sheets to create the word “YAY” with Mini Alphabet Dies. Rather than cutting the whole alphabet, I used just enough material to make three separate letters.

After attaching “YAY,” I stamped “it’s your day” in Memento Black Ink. This sentiment is from the Warm Welcome Stamp Set, and don’t you like how it rhymes?
To complete my birthday card, I attached the layer, with Dimensionals, to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

See how our designers used the “balloon” theme, then create your own design, and hang it in our gallery.

Stenciling on cards is so much fun! The Enduring Beauty Decorative Masks, from the January-April 2024 Mini Catalog, lets you do it effortlessly! Looking at the picture in my Product List below will help you understand my explanation. The five masks are numbered in the order to be used, with the colors you choose. I chose: 1-Lemon Lolly 2-Granny Apple Green 3-Daffodil Delight 4-Garden Green. 5-Crushed Curry.

Enduring Beauty Masks
The masks measure 5″ X 6 5/8″, so I cut Basic White Cardstock the same size. The masks are notched at the top, and this keeps everything perfectly aligned. Starting with mask #1, I held the mask in place with my hand, and used a Blending Brush to apply the ink. Then, I repeated the process for #2 through #5 with the different colors of ink. So fun!

I framed the flowers by using the largest countryside Corners Die for cutting, and attached this with Dimensionals to Bee Mine Designer Paper, 4 1/8″ X 5 3/8″. Then, I glued this to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.
The tiny sentiment, “thanks,” is from the Wonderful Thoughts Stamp set, cut with its Wonderful Thoughts Die, and attached with a Dimensional. After I completed the card, I used Mask #1 and Pumpkin Pie Ink to add a little more color to the flowers.

The Translucent Florals Stamp Set is so pretty in Sepia! To achieve this look, I stamped five flowers in Pecan Pie Ink on Very Vanilla Cardstock, and used their Translucent Florals Dies for cutting.

Sepia with Translucent Florals
Next, I decided to place the flowers on a wreath, created with an Irresistible Blooms Die and Very Vanilla Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″. After cutting a hole in the center of the cardstock, I embossed the layer with a 3D Basics Embossing Folder, and glued it to a Pecan Pie card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

The sentiment, “Wishing you all the happiness in the world,” is from the Translucent Florals Stamp Set. I stamped it in Pecan Pie Ink, used an Autumn Leaves Die for cutting, and attached it with Dimensionals.

Feb 2, 2024 | Artisan Projects, Gallery, Hand-Crafted Cards |
Today’s card was my first Tip & Technique Project as an Artisan; the Sepia Technique. What is Sepia? It’s the reddish brown, monochrome color of photographs from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Sepia Technique
I created the look by coloring Translucent Florals leaves and flowers with Pecan Pie Ink on Very Vanilla Cardstock. Translucent Florals are Distinktive stamps, which require less ink for the best image. Move the ink across the pad with the smooth edge of a Clear Block.

After stamping, I used their dies for cutting.

Next, I cut two layers of Very Vanilla Cardstock with the largest and second largest Deckled Rectangles Dies. Then, I stamped the sprigs, stem, and “Happy Birthday,” in Pecan Pie Ink on the smaller layer.
To “age” the layer, I brushed the edges with Pecan Pie Ink and a Sponge Dauber.
Before attaching the die-cut pieces, I glued the layers to a Pecan Pie card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.
The final step was adding three, small, Very Vanilla blossoms, cut with another Translucent Florals die.
I was on a roll with this technique, so come back tomorrow to see a second Sepia design.
