Lasting Elegance, Burlap & Lace

Today’s card is featuring a Lasting Elegance Die, and I’m combining it with burlap and lace for contrast.

Lovebirds

The first thing I did was cut a layer of  Thick Whisper White Cardstock with the largest, Lasting Elegance Die.

Doesn’t it make a beautiful, intricately patterned, diagonal, corner?

Before adhering to the Thick Whisper White card base, I played around with a number of papers beneath the die-cut pattern. I decided on the burlap paper from Pressed Petals DSP.

Keeping the card simple, the love birds were also cut from the burlap DSP. I used a Botanical Tags Die for cutting, and cropped the lovebirds from their cage.

“Happy day” is from the itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set, stamped in Crumb Cake Ink, and cut with the smallest Stitched So Sweetly die. This sentiment makes the card good for a wedding or anniversary.  I added three, tiny, pearls for punctuation.

The Scalloped Lace Trim along the top of the card was easily attached with Tear & Tape, which you can see in my Product List below.

Watercolor Pencil Golf Course Scene

The Clubhouse Bundle is great for masculine cards, and the coordinating Country Club Designer Paper is fun to color. You can see in my Product List below that the stamp set and dies can be purchased in a bundle (10 % discount) or separately.

Golf Course Scene

First, I used the largest circular Stitched Shapes Die to cut the scene from the Country Club DSP. Then, I colored the scene using Stampin’ Up’s Watercolor Pencils and a tiny bit of water for blending. The sky was colored with a Light Pool Party Stampin’ Blend.

Next, I cut the frame from Pool Party Cardstock, using two circular Stitched Shapes Dies.

TIP: Cut with the dies at the same time for an “easy to see” even circle.

After backing the scene with Cardstock for thickness, I cut the banner from Pear Pizzazz Cardstock, using the Banner Triple Punch. The smaller banners and the golf club were cut from Noble Peacock Foil. I gave the smaller foil banner Subtle Texture, cut it in half, and glued the ends to the back of the larger banner.

The background is Pool Party Cardstock, cut with a Stitched Rectangles Die, layered on a Thick Whisper White card base.

Before gluing everything together, I stamped the sentiment from the Clubhouse Stamp Set, “I hope the next year is full of green fairways, blue skies & short putts.” Any golfer is sure to appreciate this sentiment!

Honey Bee and Peaceful Poppies

Today’s design is all about designer paper and dimension.

The circle and “hello” strip are from Peaceful Poppies Designer Paper. The black and white pieces are from Golden Honey Designer Paper.

Honey Bee & Poppies

I used the largest circle from the Stitched Shapes Dies to cut the floral, focal point. Then, I used the smallest Stitched Rectangle Die to cut the three strips.

“Hello” is from the Honey Bee Stamp Set, stamped in Memento Black Ink on the blue strip.

Next, I embossed the Whisper White background with the Coastal Weave Embossing Folder, and layered it on a Thick Whisper White card base.

The bee was cropped from Golden Honey DSP.

Concentrating on dimension, I layered the circle and three strips on Thick Whisper White Cardstock for thickness, and placed them on Dimensionals. This angle shows the dimension.

My inspiration was from Freshly Made Sketches.

Card Techniques with Thoughtful Blooms

Several techniques were used on today’s birthday card, along with the FREE, Sale-A-Bration, Thoughtful Blooms Stamp Set, and Small Bloom Punch. Keep reading for details below.

By Su Mohr for GDP; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Thoughtful Blooms Stamp Set, Small Bloom Punch, Peaceful Moments Stamp Set, Painted Labels Dies, Pressed Petals DSP, Laser-Cut Paper; #cardtechniques #heatembossing #stenciling #thoughtfulblooms #peacefulmoments #paintedlabels #pressedpetals #birthdaycards #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #2020minicatalog #2020stampinup #papercrafting

Techniques & Blooms

First, I punched seven flowers from Whisper White cardstock, using the FREE, Sale-A-Bration, Small Bloom Punch. To give the flowers a pretty edge, I used a Sponge Dauber and Rococo Rose Ink. The centers were stamped in Early Espresso Ink, using a Thoughtful Blooms stamp.

Second, I decided on a “wooden”  focal point, and made it with a circular, Painted Labels Die, and woodgrain, Pressed Petals Designer Paper. Because the woodgrain is dark, I used heat embossing to make the sentiment stand out. I stamped “Happy Birthday,” from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set, in VersaMark, sprinkled it with White Embossing Powder, and set it with the Heat Tool. These supplies are in my Product list for reference.

Third, I used stenciling for the background. The Delightfully Detailed Laser-cut Paper makes great stencils, and they are easy to hold in place with “sticky notes.” I used a Sponge Dauber and Pool Party Ink with this pattern, applying uneven pressure, and partially covering the Whisper White Cardstock.

Lastly, I placed the “wooden,” sentiment piece, and blooms on Dimensionals atop the stenciled background, and glued this to a Thick Whisper White card base. The final touch was adding little pearls to the center of the flowers.

Global Design Project was my inspiration for today’s card.

I appreciate you visiting today. If you look at my Product List, you’ll notice the price of the first two items is $0.00. That’s because they are Sale-A-Bration items, and FREE with a qualifying order of $50.00 or $100.00.

The Special Mouse Named “Eeek”

I’d like for you to meet “Eeek.” He told me that when people see him, they get real excited and yell “Eeek,” so that’s how he got his name. He’s quite happy about it.

By Su Mohr for PP; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Special Someone Stamp Set, Special Day Dies, Daisy Lane Stamp Set, Medium Daisy Punch, Stitched So Sweetly Dies, Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set; #specialsomeone #specialday #mousecards critters #crittersoncards #miceoncards #daisies #daisylane #daisypunch #2020stampinup #2020minicatalog #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking

“Eeek” the mouse

This is a very clean and simple card, because Eeek wanted you to be able to see him. He’s from the Special Someone Stamp Set, stamped in Gray Granite and Sahara Sand Inks, and cut with his Special Day die.

His beautiful daisy is from the Daisy Lane Stamp Set, and Eeek is proud to be sharing it with you. The stem is stamped in Old Olive Ink on Whisper White Cardstock, with a border cut by a Stitched So Sweetly Die. The daisy petals were stamped in Daffodil Delight Ink, cut with the Medium Daisy Punch, and attached with Mini-Dimensionals.

We thought “a little hello,” from Itty Bitty Greetings, was an appropriate sentiment, and perfect for his size.

Eeek wants to share his card at the Paper Players Gallery.

Classic Woody Car In The Tropics

The Tropical Oasis Designer Paper provides the focal point for today’s masculine birthday card.

By Su Mohr for TGIF and Seize the B'day; Click READ or VISIT to go to my blog for details! Classic Woody

Do you remember these classic Woody cars? My brother paid $50.00 for one back in the 60s. What a deal! Problem was, it didn’t run. But, my mother loved anything old, and my father loved anything with wood, so they agreed to let it sit behind our house. I think it was still there when we moved.

Today’s card looks simple, and it is. However, you wouldn’t believe how long it took to complete. It’s unusual for me to tear up a card, but its predecessor is in the trash. I think I had too many goals in mind, because I was making it for a specific person’s birthday, plus two card challenges, but I persevered.

The first thing I did, for both cards, was to crop the Woody from the Tropical Oasis Designer Paper. To give it a nice shape, I used a Painted Labels Die.

TIP: Take your time figuring out which cars to crop. Some cars have more space surrounding them than others.

Next, I stamped the palm trees, from the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set, in Pear Pizzazz Ink on Whisper White Cardstock. Then, I layered this on a Soft Sea Foam card base.

I used “Happy Birthday” from the Clubhouse Stamp Set, because it was the right size, and had its die from the Golf Club Die Set for cutting.

Since this card is for a certain person, I stamped “You’re a classic” inside, and decorated the envelope flap.

TIP: Cut a piece of DSP 5 3/4″ by 2 1/4″, add a thin line of Liquid Glue around the edge of the flap, attach the DSP, and trim the excess using the flap as a template.

The two challenges are:
