Rainbow Wishes for Global Design Project 335

This week’s challenge at Global Design Project is a theme: rain/rainbow. I used New Horizons Designer Paper to create a rainbow (literally) in the sky.

I began with a watercolored scene, 5 1/4″ X 4″, glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Rainbow Wishes

The New Horizons paper is so gorgeous, I’m saving every little scrap, which I used for the lettering. I cut the word “rainbow” with Playful Alphabet Dies from 1″ (approximately) pieces of designer paper, adhered to Foam Adhesive Sheets.

After running the letters through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, I carefully removed them from the dies, peeled the backing, and adhered them to the card front in an arch.

All that remained was the sentiment, which I found in the Special Moments Stamp Set. I masked “best,” and stamped “wishes” in Memento Black Ink on New Horizons DSP. Then, I used a Stitched So Sweetly Die for cutting, attached it with Dimensionals, and my “Rainbow Wishes” card was complete.

Waves of the Ocean with Sea Life for Global Design Project 334

Welcome to Global Design Project’s challenge; a fun sketch this week. See how our designers used the sketch, then play along with us by adding your card to our gallery.

I decided to use the sketch to show off the Sea Life fish from the Annual Catalog, with the early release, Waves of the Ocean Designer Paper. The fish is part of the Sea Life Bundle that is discounted 20% during the month of March. You’ll find the complete list of sale bundles below.

First, I cut the fish from a yellow to red section of Rainbow Glimmer Paper. I love this paper for the fish, not only because of the sparkle and ombre effect, but it’s sturdy, and allows the fins to bend.

Sea Life

If you haven’t seen the Waves of the Ocean Designer Paper, I’m hoping to bring it to your attention with today’s card. It is part of the Waves of Inspiration Suite, an early release from the upcoming Annual Catalog, available in May. The stamp set and dies will be in the new catalog, however, this gorgeous paper, the foil, and Rhinestone Waves jewels, will only be available while supplies last. You can see details on these items in my Product List below, and a special video.

Once I had my fish, I chose his ocean, cut a piece, 3 1/2″ X 3 3/4″, and glued it in the center of a Soft Succulent card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Then, I cut two strips, 3 1/2″ X 3/4″, layered them for thickness, and attached them with Dimensionals.

The sentiment, “happy birthday” is from the Waves of Inspiration Stamp Set, stamped in Night of Navy Ink on the DSP, cut with a Waves Die, and attached with Dimensionals. When you have fabulous paper, it doesn’t take much to create an eye-catching card!

Paradise Palms For Global Design Project 333

This week’s Global Design Project is a color challenge with a favorite combination of green and blue: Garden Green, Mint Macaron, and Balmy Blue. We’re having temperatures in the eighties in San Diego, so my thoughts went to the beach.

By Su Mohr for GDP 333; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Paradise Palms Stamp Set, Palms Dies, Messages Die, Sea Glass, Layering Circles, Bark embossing; #paradisepalms #palmtrees #beachscenes #gdp333 #seaglass #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com #stamping #stampinup

Beachy kind of day

First, I used a Blending Brush to apply Balmy Blue Ink to Basic White Cardstock, 4 ” X 5 1/4″. Second, I cut a whole in my pretty, blue, paper with a large, Layering Circles Die. Third, I made a frame for the circle using two Layering Circles Dies, cut from Subtles 6″ X 6″ Designer Paper in Mint Macaron. Then, I used an embossing folder to ripple the blue paper. I know it’s called the Bark Embossing Folder, but it can look like ocean also, right?

Fourth, I cut a second piece of Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″ to glue to my ocean. The hole made a perfect spot to stamp Balmy Blue birds from the On The Horizon Stamp Set. Prior to gluing the layers together, I trimmed a sliver off the bottom of the white cardstock, because the embossing folder made the blue piece shrink.

Once the layers were glued together, it was attached with Dimensionals to a Mint Macaron card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Next, I used a Palms Die to cut the palm tree from Garden Green Cardstock, gluing the trunk, and attaching the fronds with a Dimnensional.

The horizontal strip was cut with another Palms Die from the same Subtles 6″ X 6″ Designer Paper as the scalloped circle.

“Wishing you a warm and beachy kind of day” is from the Paradise Palms Stamp Set, stamped in Garden Green Ink, cut with the Messages Die, and attached with Dimensionals.

The last detail was adding the Faux Sea Glass Shapes. They are so pretty and realistic!

Daffodil Daydream for Global Design Project 332

For this week’s Global Design Project, we get to CASE Kim Fee. You can click on her card to see how the other designers cased her beautiful card. Then you can give “caseing” a try!

I began with the idea of yellow flowers, and chose daffodils from the wonderful Daffodil Daydream Bundle.

By Su Mohr for GDP 332; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Daffodil Daydream Stamp Set, Daffodil Dies, Gingham Ribbon, Simply Marbleous DSP, Tasteful Textile Embossing Square Vellum Doilies; #eastercards #daffodildaydream #daffodils #flowersoncards #simplymarbleous #vellumdoilies #messagesdie #handmadecards #gdp332 #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #stamping #stampinup

Easter Daffodils

There are 24 dies in the Daffodil Die Set, so you have to take time to organize. These pictures were used to figure things out, and they were very helpful:

I used the bud in the first photo, and the flower in the second photo, but not the third flower; cutting the parts from Simply Marbleous Designer Paper. This paper is one of the FREE items you can choose with a qualifying $50.00 order.

After cutting the stems and leaves from Beauty Of The Earth Designer Paper, I glued the flower parts together, and the flowers to the stems.

To create the angled square I used a Sponge Dauber with Pear Pizzazz Ink for coloring a Square Vellum Doily. Ink takes longer to dry on Vellum, so give it time.

For the background, I embossed Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″, with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder. This was glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Once the flowers, stems, and leaves were glued to the card front, I stamped the sentiment in Memento Black Ink, and used the Message Die for cutting.

“Easter Blessings” is in the Daffodil Daydream Stamp Set, perfect for this springtime flower.

I secured a loop of Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon with Glue Dots, beneath the sentiment, which was attached with Dimensionals.

#simplestamping with Dots & Circles for Global Design Project 331

This week’s Global Design Project is a theme challenge: dots & circles. The Watercolor Shapes Stamp Set came to mind, and I began stamping all shades of yellow on Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″, using the two round stamps.

By Su Mohr for GDP 331; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Watercolor Shapes Stamp Set, Garden Wishes Stamp Set; #simplestamping #watercolorshapes #gardenwishes #circles&dots #gdp331 #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com #stamping #stampinup #cardinstruction #tutorial

Dots & Circles

The larger circles are Pumpkin Pie Daffodil Delight, and Mango Melody, and the smaller circles are Crushed Curry, Bumblebee, and So Saffron.

As I was stamping, I realized this could be #simplestamping. What is #simplestamping? It’s card making that minimizes the supplies, and difficulty, making it perfect for those new to card making. All that is needed is stamps, ink, paper, and some glue.

After stamping the circles, I stamped a dandelion from the Garden Wishes Stamp Set, in Memento Black Ink.  This stamp set also has the flying seeds, providing all the little dots needed for our theme.

Prior to gluing the simply stamped layer to the Basic Black card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″) I stamped the sentiment, “Wishing you all the best,” also from the Garden Wishes Stamp Set. Wishing and birthdays go together, so it will probably be a birthday card.

Now that I’ve completed my #simplestamping card, I’m itching to make a “stepped up” version. Come back Wednesday to see what develops.

But for now, click here to see what the other designers created with dot & circles. Hopefully, you will be inspired, and hang your creation in our gallery.

Sweet Hearts for Global Design Project 330

First of all, Happy Valentines Day! It’s appropriate that today’s Global Design Project is a sketch challenge that includes hearts. But, it’s my feeling that hearts are beautiful on cards year-round, so I made a “thank you” card.

I wanted the hearts to be the focus of my card, so I began by using two Sweet Hearts Dies to cut the hearts from Beauty Of The Earth Designer Paper. You wouldn’t believe the time I spent deciding the remaining parts of the card, so I’ll just tell you how the card was made.

By Su Mohr for GDP 330; Cl;ick aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Sweet Hearts Dies, Simply Marbleous DSP, Ornate Thanks Stamp Set, Vellum Layering Designs, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Beauty Of The Earth DSP; #thankyoucards #heartsoncards #sweethearts #simplymarbleousdsp #ornatethanks #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com #stamping #stampinup

Thank you hearts

The card base is Basic White Cardstock, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. The first layer is Simply Marbleous Designer Paper, cut with the largest Stitched Rectangles Die. This paper is one of the FREE Sale-a-bration items you can choose for a qualify purchase of $50.

The second layer is Basic White Cardstock, cut with the fourth largest Stitched Rectangles Die. The Ornate Thanks Stamp Set provided the sentiment, “from the bottom of my heart,” stamped in Early Espresso Ink.

After gluing the layers together, I stamped, “THANKS,” in Early Espresso Ink, also from the Ornate Thanks Stamp Set. I used a Sweet Hearts Die for cutting “THANKS,” and paired it with Vellum Layering Designs, cut with the same die.

Finally, I attached the hearts with Dimensionals, and added three Iridescent Rhinestones for sparkle.

Clicking on the sketch will take you to the site where you can see all of the designer’s projects. Then, you can create a project from the sketch, and hang it in our gallery.
