Construction Zone Birthday Card

Today’s card was created with the Construction Zone Stamp Set, a “must have” for my husband. He runs the Republic Services landfills in San Diego, so the images are perfect for employee birthday cards.  This would also be cute as a birthday card for a Lego lover! Doesn’t the construction man remind you of a Lego’s figure?

Construction Zone

I began by stamping  the man, balloons, “Birthday Zone” and machinery in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock. Then, I colored the man and balloons, using four Stampin’ Blends: Real Red, Azure Afternoon, Parakeet Party, and Crumb Cake.

To feature the company colors of red, white, and blue, I used a card base of Blueberry Bushel, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, topped with Real Red Cardstock, 3 1/2″ X 5″, and Basic White Cardstock, 3 3/8″ X 4 5/8″.

Next, I used Something Fancy Dies for cutting the man holding the balloons and birthday sign. The machinery was fussy cut with Paper Snips, and all were placed on Dimensionals.

The yellow striped sign was stamped in Daffodil Delight Ink on Basic White Cardstock, also fussy cut, and glued in place. I decided to stamp the cones and arrow directly on the cardstock, using Real Red and Pumpkin Pie Inks.

The inside says “Happy Birthday,” plus a sentiment from the Texturas Naturales Stamp Set, “el mundo es mejor porque formas parte de el.” Translated in English,”the world is better because you are part of it.”

Gorgeous Garden with Textured Florals

I began today’s card with the background, using a Gorgeous Garden Die as a stencil. I placed the die on top of Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/2″, and smoothed on Lost Lagoon Ink with a Blending Brush. After coloring, I trimmed the cardstock to 3 3/4″ X 5″, and rinsed the ink from the die with water.

Gorgeous Floral

Next, I glued the pattern of leaves to Bubble Bath Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″, which I glued to a Lost Lagoon card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

The flowers and foliage are from the Textured Floral Bundle. To create the flowers, I used a Blending Brush to apply Bubble Bath Ink to Basic White Cardstock. Then, I stamped the flowers, from the Textured Floral Stamp Set in Berry Burst Ink, used their Textured Floral Die for cutting, and placed them on Dimensionals.

Prior to attaching the flowers to the card front, I glued three bunches of foliage in a circle. The foliage was cut with a Textured Floral Die from Lost Lagoon Cardstock.

The sentiment, “with a grateful heart,” is from the Textured Floral Stamp Set. I stamped it in Memento Black Ink, used a Sending Die for cutting, and attached it with Dimensionals.

I completed the design with three, 2023-2025 In Color Dots. The dots are Moody Mauve, but I’m pretending they are Berry Burst, shhhh.

I was inspired by The Paper Players.

Fun Fold for the Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!

This month, the theme is CASE the Catalog. We really hope that you will be inspired by all the amazing creations the Pals are sharing with you! Then, you will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

Stampin’ Up! catalogs are beautifully done, and offer lots of inspiration. My CASE is the Timeless Arrangements card on page 154.

I am sharing a Fun Fold card that was given the name “bridge.” I added a card base to the back, making it an easel card, so we can call the design a “bridge/easel” card.

By Su Mohr for the Pals Blog Hop; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Timeless Arrangements Bundle, Artistic Mix Decorative Masks; #timelessarrangements #artisticmixdecorativemasks #stenciling #stencilingoncards #masks #funfolds #fancyfolds #howtomakefunfolds #bridgefunfold #bridge/easelfunfold #handmadecards #handcrafted #cardmaking #diy #papercrafting #palsbloghop #casethecatalog #stamping #stampinup #sumohr #thankyoucards

“Bridge-Easel” Fun Fold

First, I created the card base by cutting a piece of 12″ X 12″ Basic White Cardstock, 10 3/4″ X 5 1/2″. After cutting, I scored it on each end, 1 1/4″, 2 1/4″, and 3 1/4″. My Paper Trimmer made this very easy to do. Then, I folded and burnished the scored lines, accordion style.

To decorate the card base, I cut two pieces of Basic White Cardstock, just a spec smaller than 1 1/4″ X 5 1/2″, and one piece, just a spec smaller than 4″ X 5 1/2″. I prefer this, so there’s no chance of it hanging over the edge.

After cutting, I used a stenciling technique with an Artistic Mix Decorative Mask, and Boho Blue Ink for coloring. I positioned the mask on top of the cardstock, smoothing on the ink with a Blending Brush, while holding it in place with my hand. After coloring, I glued the three stenciled pieces to the card base.

Next, I created the “bridge”, using the Timeless Arrangements Bundle, with dies to cut foliage from three colors of cardstock: Mossy Meadow, Moody Mauve, and Soft Sea Foam.

A stamp was also used to stamp flowers in Mossy Meadow Ink on Basic White Cardstock. Then, they were cut with their die, and colored with Mossy Meadow and Moody Mauve Stampin’ Blends.

Finally, the flowers and foliage were glued to the back of Basic White Cardstock, cut with a Timeless Arrangements label die. This rectangular die-cut was the perfect size for my “bridge!”

The sentiment, “I really appreciate you,” is from the Timeless Arrangements Stamp Set. I stamped it in Mossy Meadow Ink on Basic White Cardstock, used the same Timeless Arrangements label die for cutting, and glued them together.

While adhering the “bridge” to the card base, I was careful to glue only the portion on the sides, and not the area in the opening.

After gluing, I put the weight of a Clear Block on the card to make sure the glue was set.

The last step was adhering the “bridge” card to a card base that folds at the top, making it an “easel” card. I used Boho Blue Cardstock for the card base, 8 1/2 X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, and added Basic White Cardstock for the greeting inside, 4″ X 5 1/4″.

Thank you for visiting. Wishing you a wonderful summer!

More inspiration awaits, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team. The Pals are very excited to show you what they’ve created! Then, please mark your calendars for our next blog hop next month (always the second Wednesday each month), when our theme will be “Punch Your Art Out”.

Until then, have fun in your craft space.

Zoo Crew Skating Ostrich Returns

I introduced the skating ostrich several months ago, and here she is again, but with a different background. The Zoo Crew Designer Paper has wonderful black & white designs on the backside of the numerous animals. I used the second largest Scalloped Countours Die to cut a darling, floral pattern, and colored it with Stampin’ Blends. The petals were colored with Sweet Sorbet, and the centers were colored with Lemon Lolly.

Skating Ostrich

After coloring the flowers, I used the largest Scalloped Contours Die to cut Basic White Cardstock. This white layer was glued to a Lemon Lolly card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, followed by the floral layer.

Next, I used the fourth largest Scalloped Contours Die to cut Basic White Cardstock, and glued it in place. After fussy cutting the skating ostrich, she stuck a bunch of Dimensionals to her backside, and hopped on.

The ostrich makes me smile, so I found the sentiment, “you make me smile” in the Timeless Arrangements Stamp Set. I stamped it in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock, used its Timeless Arrangements Die for cutting, and attached it with Dimensionals.

I was inspired by TGIF.

Inked and Tiled for Global Design Project 402

This weeks Global Design Project is a fun sketch. See how our designers used the sketch, then create your own design, and hang it in our gallery.

I began by stamping the artistic leaves from the Inked & Tiled Stamp Set. They were stamped in Old Olive Ink on two corners of Basic White Cardstock, 3 3/4″ X 5″.

By Su Mohr for GDP 402; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Inked & Tiled Stamp Set, Wonderful Thoughts Bundle, Dainty Delights Dies, Exposed Brick Embossing Folder; #inked&tiled #wonderfulthoughts #daintydelights #bright&beautiful #exposed brick #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #thankyoucards #stamping #stampinup #sumohr #gdp402

Leaves and Blossoms

After stamping the leaves, I embossed the cardstock with the Exposed Brick Embossing Folder. This was glued to Bright & Beautiful Designer Paper in a striped pattern on a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Next, I cut the blossoms from Bright & Beautiful Designer Paper, using a Dainty Delights Die. The die has two attached blossoms, so I ran it through extra times, snipped the third blossoms for my design, and glued them in place.

The small “thanks” is from the Wonderful Thoughts Stamp Set, stamped in Blackberry Ink, cut with its Wonderful Thoughts Die, and glued in place.

Artistic Mix Mask with Pastels

Today’s card is all about the stenciled background, created with an Artistic Mix Decorative Mask and Soft Pastels. Have you used Pastels? Follow along, and I’ll show you my stenciling technique.

By Su Mohr; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Artistic Mix Decorative Masks, Soft Pastels Assortment, Inked & Tiled Stamp Set; #inked&tiled #artisticdecorativemasks #softpastels #stenciling #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #thankyoucards #flowersoncards #stamping #stampinup #sumohr

Stenciled with Pastels

First, I used Painter’s Tape to hold the Artistic Decorative Mask securely to scratch paper, on top of Basic White cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″. These are on top of a Stampin’ Pierce Mat, which I always use for stamping.

Second, starting at the top, I rubbed the Coastal Cabana Pastel on scratch paper, making a powder, that I applied to the cardstock with a Sponge Dauber. I smoothed on the powder in a circular motion half way down the cardstock.

Third, starting at the bottom, I used to same method to apply Granny Apple Green half way up the cardstock.

Fourth, I removed the tape, shook the loose powder into the waste basket, and rubbed the entire surface with a tissue.

Once I had my background, I stamped a floral image, from the Inked & Tiled Stamp Set, in Wild Wheat Ink, a new In Color. Then, I stamped “thank you,” from the same set, in Crumb Cake Ink to match the Crumb Cake card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

I’m loving this stamp set! I’ll be using the leaves on my card for tomorrow’s Global Design Project challenge.
