Coloring Fun with Perfectly Penciled Designer Paper

I was in the mood to do some coloring and fussy cutting, and Perfectly Penciled Designer Paper was a “perfect” choice. The black and white flowers were calling for some color, so I used Stampin’ Blends in three colors: Bermuda Bay, Fresh Freesia, and Polished Pink.

fussy cut and colored

After coloring, I used my Paper Snips to “perfect” my patience with the detailed design. It’s actually fun, once you get the hang of moving the paper, and not the scissors.

To add to the card’s design, I used a Stitched Rectangles Die (1 1/4″ X 3 1/4″) to cut three rectangles, which were embossed with the Hive Embossing Folder. I eyeballed the spacing, and glued the three rectangles to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Then, I glued my cut flowers on top of the embossed rectangles.

The sentiment, “a note of thanks,” is from the Sending Smiles Stamp Set. I stamped it in Memento Black Ink, used a Sending Die for cutting, and attached it with Mini Dimensionals.

I was inspired by TGIF.

Dainty Delight Sneak Peek for Global Design Project 374

For this week’s Global Design Project, we have a sketch challenge. Since I just received the Dainty Flowers Designer Paper, as a FREE Sale-a-bration item, I HAD to give you a sneak peek. I’m in LOVE with it, and I believe you will be also; the artwork and colors are fabulous! And, it coordinates with the Dainty Delight Bundle in the January-April 2023 Mini Catalog. All will be available January 5, 2023.

First, I used the long, curved, Dainty Delight Die to cut a branch from a green, patterned, Dainty Flowers design.

Dainty Flowers

Next, I used a Stylish Shapes Die to cut a square from a floral design, and placed it on Dimensionals. This die set is out of stock right now, but expected to be available the week of January 30.

The background is a pattern of wonderful splashes of color, cut 5 1/4″ X 4″, glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Prior to gluing the background to the card base, I attached Soft Sea Foam Ribbon with Glue Dots.

“Celebrate you” is from the Dainty Delight Stamp Set, stamped in Old Olive Ink on the designer paper, cut with a Stylish Shapes Die, and attached with Dimensionals.

Finally, I added three 2022-2024 Matte Decorative Dots below the sentiment.

Here is the Global Design Project sketch. See how the other designers used the sketch, then create your own design, and hang it in our gallery.

Sneak Peek of the Sweet Citrus Bundle

When my husband saw today’s card, he said he could smell oranges! The fruit looks that real, doesn’t it? The Citrus Bundle with its Hybrid Embossing Folder is unique, and will be so much fun to use. It’s on page 49 in the January-April 2023 Mini Catalog, and will be available January 5, 2023.

I’ll start my explanation with the card base, which is Mossy Meadow Cardstock, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. It was layered with Old Olive Cardstock, cut with the largest Scalloped Contours Die, and embossed with the Citrus Hybrid Embossing Folder.

Smell the oranges

Next, I used the largest Sweet Citrus stamp to stamp Pumpkin Pie Ink on So Saffron Cardstock. After stamping the outline, I stamped the inside of the oranges with Daffodil Delight Ink. The stamp is in one piece, and has a die in one piece, but cuts out four separate pieces.

The leaves were stamped in Old Olive Ink on Pear Pizzazz Cardstock, cut with their dies, and attached with glue and Dimensionals.

After stamping the fruit, I matched two pieces of fruit to the Embossing Folder, and ran it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. That’s what gives the fruit the realistic look. Don’t you love it?

The Sweet Citrus stamp set has appropriate sentiments, and I stamped ” Have a zesty birthday!” in Evening Evergreen Ink. After fussy cutting the sentiment, I attached half with glue, and half with Dimensionals.

I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.

Sneak Peek of the Ginkgo Branch

Ginkgo trees have a distinctive beauty, and the Ginkgo Branch Bundle was among my top favorites from the January-April 2023 Mini Catalog, available January 5, 2023.

Today’s card is CAS (clean and simple), and it was fun to simply stamp the ginkgo branch in Pear Pizzazz Ink on Basic White Cardstock. Then, I used a Blending Brush to add a light touch of background color with Balmy Blue Ink.

By Su Mohr for CAS on Friday; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details; Featuring: Ginkgo Branch Stamp Set; Deckled Rectangles Dies; #gingkobranch #ginkgo #ginkgoleaves #sympathycards #CAS #cleanandsimple #deckledrectangles #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #stamping #stampinup

Ginkgo Branch CAS

After stamping, I used the second largest Deckled Rectangles Die to cut the Basic White Cardstock, and the largest Deckled Rectangles Die to cut Balmy Blue Cardstock for a border.

Next, I glued the two layers to a Mossy Meadow card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4.

Prior to gluing, I stamped the sentiment in Old Olive Ink. “With sympathy” is one of four sentiments from the Ginkgo Branch Stamp Set. Isn’t the font pretty?

The last step was highlighting the Ginkgo leaves with a Parakeet Party Stampin’ Blend, and my CAS card was complete.

Cottage Wreaths Bundle & FREE SHIPPING DAY

Before I share today’s design, I have to shout, this is FREE SHIPPING DAY, today, Thursday, December 15…one day only! It’s a savings you don’t want to miss! Your order can include clearance, which is listed below, and don’t forget about the Last Chance items.

I thought I had finished making Christmas cards for the year, but there is always “just one more.” For today’s card, I used the Cottage Wreaths Stamp Set and Dies, and I’m happy to say they will be carrying over to a future catalog. I suggest ordering them now, as a bundle, so you can save 10%. You can click on the picture in my Product List below.

The top layer of the wreath was cut from Very Vanilla Cardstock, and bottom was first stamped in Evening Evergreen, before cutting. After gluing the layers together, I placed the wreath on Dimensionals.

Framed Wreath

The wreath was bordered with a frame, cut from Brushed Metallic Cardstock with the largest, Fabulous Frames Die. I glued it to Very Vanilla Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″, which I glued to a Thick Very Vanilla card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Next, I cut a second frame from Very Vanilla Cardstock, and used the center to emboss with the Merry Melody Embossing Folder. Then, I glued this inside the gold frame.

Since the music is “Joy to the World, I stamped “joy” in Evening Evergreen Ink on Very Vanilla Cardstock, used my Paper Snips to fussy cut, and glued it in place. “Joy” is from the Brightest Glow Stamp Set.

Don’t you love the bow? It was cut with a die from the Cottage Wreaths Die Set from Regals 6″X6″ Designer Paper in a Cherry Cobbler plaid.

I was inspired by The Paper Players.

Gnome Gift Card Holders for the Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!

This month, the theme is Last Minute Gifts/Cards to inspire you with your holiday list. We really hope that you will enjoy all the amazing creations the Pals are sharing with you! As you hop from blog to blog, we would love for you to leave a comment. You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

The best last minute gift is a gift card, and you can personalize it with an easy-to-make gift card holder. I make these every year, and it always feels fresh with new designer paper, stamps, and die-cuts.

This year, I  chose two colors of cardstock, Real Red and Garden Green, to coordinate with Painted Christmas Designer Paper. This fabulous paper has been on sale, and the last time I checked, it was still available.

By Su Mohr for Pals Blog Hop; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Gnome Gift Card Holders

INSTRUCTIONS:

Cut  8 1/2″ X 11″ cardstock into one piece that is 7 3/4″ X 10″.  With the 7 3/4 side at the top, score at 6″ and 2 1/2″, then cut in half at 5″, making two gift card holders.

It helps to have the right tools, and Stampin’ Up’s Paper Trimmer is my favorite for measuring, cutting, and scoring.

To decorate the gift card holders, cut two pieces of Designer Series Paper: The bottom front is 4 3/4″ X 2 1/4″. The top front is 4 3/4″ X 1 1/2″.

Cut one piece of Basic White Cardstock for the sentiment on the inside, 4 3/4″ X 1 1/2″. “Merry Christmas” is from the Ringed With Nature Stamp Set.

Use a Circle Punch to make a finger slot in the middle of the bottom front.

Attach a piece of Tear & Tape to each side of the bottom (inside), and close, sealing your pocket.

Cut the bands 7 3/4″ X 1″. Score at 6 1/8″ and 2 1/2″. You want that extra 1/8 inch on the scoring, so the band will slide off and on easily.

Decorate the bands with cute gnomes, cut with Gnomes Dies from red, green and white cardstock, and Painted Christmas Designer Paper.  The nose is Basic White Cardstock, colored with an Ivory Stampin’ Blend.

Glue the band with the raw edge in front, and cover with your glued gnome. This keeps the back looking smooth and pretty.

Thanks for stopping by. In honor of Mama, who always made sure a turkey picture was taken.

More inspiration awaits, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team. The Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Then, please mark your calendars for our next blog hop on January 11th when our theme will be Sale-A-Bration Time. The design team will showcase projects made from Sale-A-Bration items.

Until then, have fun in your craft space.
