A River of Love

I had almost completed today’s blog post, when an idea popped into my head. Why not add fish to the river using a Whale Done stamp and Misty Moonlight Ink? It made me giggle, so I thought the recipient would enjoy it also.

River Hearts

My card began with New Horizons Designer Paper, 5 1/4″ X 4″, glued to an Evening Evergreen card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Then, I cut the heart, with a Bouquet Of Love Die, from the backside of the New Horizons Designer Paper. After adding a layer of cardstock for thickness, I attached it to the card front with Dimensionals.

Next, I used a Love You More Than Die to cut the word “love” from Fresh Freesia Cardstock, layered it with cardstock for thickness, and glued it to the heart. The words are attached in the die, but separate when cut.

Last, I floated hearts in the river, using a Sweet Hearts Die to cut them all at once. And, you know about the fish in my first photo. Hee hee.

I was inspired by TGIF.

Windmill Fields for the Pals Fun Folds Blog Hop

Welcome to the Pals second Fun Folds Blog Hop! I must be honest, and say, that “simple” is the name of the game for me. I find this Double Easel design easy to make, and hope you’ll agree.

By Su Mohr for the Pals Fun Fold Blog Hop; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for instructions! Featuring: Windmill Fields Dies, Flowering Fields DSP, Scalloped Contours Dies, Special Moment Stamp Set, In Good Taste DSP; #floweringfields #windmillfields #ingoodtaste #funfolds #fancyfolds #windmills #tulips #specialmoments #easelfoldcard #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #stamping #stampinup

Double Easel Fold Windmill Card

I began with Thick Basic White Cardstock, 4 1/4″ X 11″, scored at 5 1/2″. Next, I cut Highland Heather Cardstock, 4″ X 10 1/4″, scored at 2 1/2″ and 5″.

Next, glue the 4″ X 5 1/4″ Highland Heather Cardstock to the 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″ Thick Basic White card base, which will look like this:

That’s the basic design; now, the fun part of decorating.

I started by using Windmill Fields Dies to cut the windmill from In Good Taste Designer Paper, and Basic White Cardstock to make the building opaque.

For the background, I cut Flowering Fields Designer Paper, 3 3/4″ X 5″, and glued it to the Highland Heather Cardstock fold, 4″ X 5 1/4″.  Then, I cut larger tulip pattern for the front fold, 3 3/4″ X 2 1/4″.

The inside of the card has purple, Flowering Fields Designer Paper, cut with the largest Scalloped Contours Die, which you can see in the first photo. The paper is solid, and light enough, that your written message will be visible. Plus, there’s solid white on the opposite fold for a long letter.

The sentiment is from the Sale-a-bration, Special Moments Stamp Set, stamped in Gorgeous Grape Ink on Fresh Freesia Cardstock, cut with the smallest Stitched Rectangles Die, and attached with Dimensionals.

See how simple that was? Plus, it folds easily into our Medium Envelopes, and stands on its own when removed.

Now, continue hopping to see more Fun Fold ideas!

New Horizons Valentine for Global Design Project 327

When the moon rises over the mountains, on the horizon, it is huge! With an imagination, it can turn into a heart; perfect for a Valentine. The stitched heart is from the Bouquet Of Love Stamp Set, cut from New Horizons Designer Paper.

Heart-shaped Moon

This week’s Global Design Project is a theme challenge, one of my favorites: “love-valentine.” Be inspired by our Design Team, then hang your card in our gallery.

I set to work with the New Horizons Designer Paper and Horizon Dies. First, I cut the the smooth mountain range from a light purple section of the designer paper, the detailed range from a darker purple, and glued them together.

You wouldn’t have to use the New Horizons DSP, but I love its watercolored look.

Second, I prepared the background, using the second largest Stitched Rectangles Die to cut Basic White Cardstock. This was attached with Dimensionals to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Next, I used a curvy, New Horizons die to cut four sections of different colors of New Horizons Designer Paper. After cutting, I fit the curves together, and snipped the ends from the middle die-cuts.

Before gluing the curved pieces, I stamped the sentiment on the bottom curve in Memento Black Ink. “Happy Valentine’s Day” is from the Sweet Conversations Stamp Set.

Windmill Fields Delft China

Looking at the Windmill Fields Bundle, I recalled my mother’s Delft China collection, and was inspired to create today’s card. I knew that the In Good Taste Designer Paper had blue, patterned paper that would work for my design.

I began with a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, layered with the first pattern of In Good Taste DSP, 4″ X 5 1/4″. The next layer is Basic White Cardstock,  3 1/2″ X 4 3/4″. The top layer is a second pattern of In Good Taste DSP, 3 3/8″ X 4 5/8. I cut a circle in this top layer to accommodate the windmill, using the second largest Layering Circles Die.

Delft China

Next, I gave the circle a border using the largest, scalloped, Layering Circles Die, and the second largest Layering Circles Die, to cut the first Pattern of In Good Taste DSP.

After gluing the layers, I used Windmill Fields Dies to cut the windmill from a third pattern of In Good Taste Paper. I reinforced the blades with cardstock, and glued the windmill in place, leaving the blades free to lift.

The sentiment, “just because” is from the Ranunculus Romance Stamp Set, stamped in Misty Moonlight Ink, cut with a Floral Gallery Die, and attached with Mini Dimensionals.

Come back Tuesday to see a colorful, FUN FOLD card, with the windmill!

Ranunculus Romance Mystery Stamping

Virtual gatherings can be fun, and today I’m sharing one I attended on Thursday evening. Prior to the gathering, everyone (over 50 attendees) received a supply list for a “mystery” card we would be making together.

By Su Mohr; Click aromasanmdart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Ranunculus Romance Stamp Set, Ranunculus Dies, Vellum Layering Designs, Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder, Brushed Brass Butterflies; #mystery stamping #ranunculus #ranunculusromance #vellumlayeringdesigns #petalpinkorgandyribbon #dutchdoorfunfold #funfolds #fancyfolds #stampingtechniques #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #stamping #stampinup

Dutch Door Fun Fold

These are the instructions we received:

Looking at the supply list, I had no idea it would be a Fun Fold Card, named the Dutch Door. I began with a Thick Basic White card base 8 1/2” X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. The surprise came at the beginning, when we were told to cut a 4 1/4″ X 2 1/2″ section off the front of the card base.

Next, I glued my Vellum Layering Design, 3 3/4″ X 5″, to Soft Sea Foam Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″, and glued this to the inside of my card base.

Fortunately, I had prepared my stamped image ahead of time, thinking I wouldn’t have time during the gathering. Although, I could have completed it later.

I had chosen a Ranunculus Romance image, and used the “ink to stamp” technique to stamp it onto the 2 1/4″ X 4″ Basic White Cardstock. With the Stamparatus holding the stamp and paper in place, I used Stampin’ Write Markers in four colors: Soft Sea Foam, Mossy Meadow, Flirty Flamingo, and Petal Pink.

After stamping, I glued the flowers to Daffodil Afternoon Designer Paper, 2 3/4″ X 4″.  I didn’t want the back of the Daffodil DSP to show, so I glued Basic White Cardstock to the back.

I covered the “door” with Soft Sea Foam Cardstock, 4″ X 3″, embossed with The Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder. Once the “door” was covered, I attached the flowers with Dimensionals on the bottom half.

My sentiment is from the Ranunculus Romance Stamp Set, stamped in Memento Black Ink, and cut with a Ranunculus Die.

For embellishment, I added some Petal Pink Ribbon with a Glue Dot, and self-adhesive Brushed Brass Butterflies.

Everyone will be posting their cards in the FaceBook group, and I’m excited to see the variety of cards.

You don’t need to stamp alone. Join my Stampin’ Up! team, and get involved.

Friendly Hello Scraps Pack A Punch

What do you do with scraps of your favorite designer paper? I admit, they often get tossed, but sometimes a small amount of paper can pack a punch in a card design.

By Su Mohr; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Friendly Hello DSP, Birds & More Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Beautiful Trees Dies, Gingham Embossing Folder, Iridescent Rhinestones; #friendlyhello #ginghamembossing #birdsandmore #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #crafts #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #stamping #stampinup #scraps #cardinstruction #cardsketches

Friendly Hello Scraps

This is a design I created a while ago, and one of my most viewed cards on Pinterest.

For today’s card, I cut three patterns of Friendly Hello Designer Paper, using the smallest Stitched Rectangles Die. Then, I stamped “hello” from the Love Of Leaves Stamp Set in Shaded Spruce Ink on the floral rectangle. Next, I glued the rectangles in the middle of Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″. Prior to gluing, I embossed the layer with the Gingham Embossing Folder, which is my Host Code Gift this month.

The embossed layer was glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Next, I used a Birds & More Die to cut a branch from Thick Basic White Cardstock, and glued it on top of the three rectangles of designer paper. I left one leaf unglued, so I could attach a bird, cut with a Beautiful Trees Die, from another scrap of Friendly Hello Designer Paper.

Lastly, I added some sparkle to three of the buds with the wonderful, Iridescent Rhinestones.
