Summer Shadows

I had such fun coloring a pumpkin on Friday’s card, I decided to use the same “ink to stamp” technique with the Shaded Summer Stamp Set. I placed the large, floral stamp on the Stamparatus platform, on top of Basic White Cardstock. The paper is held down by magnets, so it doesn’t move. Then, I lowered the lid of the Stamparatus, picked up the stamp, inked a small section of the stamp with a Stampin’ Write Marker, and lowered the lid to the paper. I added one color at a time, and repeated the process until I was satisfied with the amount of color.

I used Petal Pink, Flirty Flamingo, and Mango Melody Stampin’ Write Markers for the flowers. These come in color collections, or you can go “hog wild” and get all 40 colors in a nice case! And, I used Old Olive Stampin’ Blends for the stems and leaves.

After coloring, I used the die, shown in the first picture, for cutting.

Next, I used two Layering Circles Dies to cut Thick Basic White Cardstock, making a platform for my flowers. I glued just the small portions that touched the circle, and covered the back with Dimensionals for support.

The background is a 4″ X 4″ square of basic White Cardstock, embossed with the Timeworn Embossing Folder. You can barely make out a few of the words, and isn’t it great? Prior to embossing, I added a detailed edge using an Ornate Layers Die. You know how I love this die!

Beneath the white layer is a stripe from Pattern Party Designer Paper, 4″ X 5 1/4″. The card base is Thick Basic White Cardstock, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

The sentiment, “to a sweet friend,” is from the Sweet As A Peach Stamp Set, stamped in Old Olive Ink, and cut with an Ornate Frames Die. I used Thick Basic White Cardstock, so the fancy ends would be sturdy, and attached it with Dimensionals on each end.

I was inspired by TGIF.

Back On Your Feet Masculine Get Well Card

Sometimes a little humor is just what the doctor ordered! The Back On your Feet Stamp Set has perfect images and sentiments for “get well” cards to make you smile. And, this is great for a guy.

By Su Mohr for FMS; Click aromasandart.com to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Back On Your Feet Stamp Set, Pattern party Paper, Neutrals 6" X 6" Paper, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Stampin' Blends, Layering Circles Dies; #getwellcards #masculinecards #cardsforguys #humorouscards #turtles #turtlesoncards #backonyourfeet #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #stamping

Back On Your Feet

I began by stamping the funny, turtle in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock, and using a Layering Circles Die (2 3/8″) for cutting. I backed this with Old Olive Cardstock, cut with a scalloped, Layering Circles Die, that’s a spec larger.

While stamping the turtle, I also stamped “ouch” and “hope you’re back on your feet soon” in Memento Black Ink. I used Stitched Rectangles Dies for cutting, the sizes closest to the vertical dimensions of the words. Then, I used a larger die to make the labels shorter, horizontally.

You can see all of the circles and rectangles in my Product List below.

Next, I colored the turtle with Stampin’ Blends in Light Soft Suede and Old Olive.

For the background, I cut a piece of Neutrals 6″ X 6″ Designer Paper in Crumb Cake, with the largest Stitched Rectangles Die. Then, I added a narrow strip of Pattern Party Designer Paper in a black & white stripe. To match the stripe, I attached a bow of Playful Pets Trim. Don’t you think this adds a touch of whimsy to the card?

After attaching the turtle and sentiments with Dimensionals, my get well card was complete. I think my friend will appreciate the humor.

I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.

Pretty Pumpkins Friendship Card

One of my favorite images for Fall is the pumpkin, and Stampin’ Up’s new, Pretty Pumpkins Bundle, is fabulous! I’ll show you how I used some of the bundle on today’s card, and you can see the complete bundle in my Product List below.

By Su Mohr for PP; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Pretty Pumpkins Stamp SEt, Detailed Pumpkins Dies, Scalloped Contours Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Bumblebee Trinkets; #pumpkins #prettypumpkins #detailedpumpkins #bumblebees #scallopedcontours #pumpkinsoncards #stampinuppumpkins #fallcards #cardtevhniques #inktostamp #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #stampinup #stamping #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting

Detailed Pumpkins

I began with the colorful pumpkin, which was easily colored using the “ink to stamp” technique. I placed the Pretty Pumpkin stamp on the Stamparatus platform, on top of Basic White Cardstock.

I used Real Red and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Markers, and an Old Olive Stampin’ Blend. You have to stamp quickly with Stampin’ Blends, because they dry quickly.

Next, I used Detailed Pumpkin Dies to cut the colorful pumpkin, and the tall Basic White Pumpkin. Don’t you love the intricate pattern? And, How about those cute leaves at the top of the pumpkin?

For the background, I used a Stitched Rectangles Die to cut Basic White Cardstock, 3″ X 4 1/4″. This is layered on Regals 6″ X 6″ Designer Paper in Old Olive, cut with the largest Scalloped Contours Die. The card base is Thick Basic White Cardstock, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Prior to gluing the layers together, I stamped the sentiment in Old Olive Ink. “If friends were pumpkins I’d pick you” is from the Pretty Pumpkins Stamp Set.

While I was cleaning up my workspace, a Bumblebee Trinket landed on my card, and I decided to let her stay.

I was inspired by the Paper Players.

Seasonal Swirls for Pals August Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month, the theme is “My Happiest Season”. We really hope that you enjoy and will be inspired by them! As you hop from blog to blog, don’t forget to leave comments because we love hearing from you. You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

I love the long days of summer, but Fall is my favorite season for making holiday cards. Wreaths are among my favorites for Thanksgiving and Christmas cards, so I was excited to use the new, Seasonal Swirls Dies.

By Su Mohr for the Pals Blog Hop; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Seasonal Swirls Dies, Harvest Meadow Designer Paper, Beautiful Trees Dies, Be Dazzling Specialty Paper, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Word Wishes Dies, In Good Taste Designer Paper; #seasonalswirls #beautifultrees #wordwishes #harvestmeadow #christmascards #holidaycards #holiday2021 #wreaths #wreathsoncards #framesoncards #cardinstruction #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #stampinup #stamping

Christmas Wreath

I began with a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Then, I created a frame for my wreath, using Stitched Rectangles Dies, and a gorgeous pattern of Harvest Meadow Designer Paper.

First, I glued the designer paper to Thick Basic White Cardstock, so the frame would be sturdy, 4 1/4″ X 5 1/2″. Then, I placed the largest Stitched Rectangles Die on the Harvest Meadow Designer Paper, along with the fourth largest Stitched Rectangles Die, and ran it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.

Next, I used the second largest Stitched Rectangles Die to cut a coordinating pattern of Harvest Meadow Designer Paper. This was glued to the card base prior to attaching the frame with Foam Adhesive Strips.

Now, for the beautiful wreath! I cut one circle of pine and leaves from Thick Basic White Cardstock, and another circle from Be Dazzling Specialty Paper. This Be Dazzling Paper is amazing, and one of the FREE items you can choose during Sale-a-bration.

The circles were glued together; then glued on the right and left sides to the frame.

“Christmas” was made with a Word Wishes Die, cut from In Good Taste Designer Paper. I backed it for thickness, making it look like carved wood, and suspended it across the wreath. Finally, I dotted the “i” with a rhinestone.

A pop of Cherry Cobbler color was created with a cardinal from the Beautiful Trees Die Set.

You’ll find the supplies I used in my Product List below. I appreciate you visiting. Thank you!

More inspiration awaits, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team. The Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Then, please mark your calendars for our next blog hop on September 8th. Our theme will be “Focus on the Sentiment”when our Design Team creates a project showcasing a sentiment as the focal point of their project. Until then, have fun in your craft space.

A CASE of a CASE

I rarely CASE (copy and selectively edit) a card, because I get a thrill out of designing. But, today’s card is a CASE of a CASE, so you could say it’s “double CASED.”

By Su Mohr; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Nature's Harvest Stamp Set, Layering Circles Dies, Hand-Penned Designer Paper, Very Vanilla Scalloped Lace, Stampin' Blends; #nature'sharvest #CASE #casingthecatalog #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #stampinblends #alcoholmarkers #flowers #flowersoncards #holiday2021

CASE of the catalog

There are many fabulous samples in our Stampin’ Up! catalogs, and this is one of my favorites from the July-December Mini Catalog.

I CASED this card on Saturday, when my Direct Team Leader, Peggy Noe, generously had a team class at her home. She had our supplies ready to go, and with her instruction, it was easy to CASE. We started with a Soft Succulent card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, topped with a layer of Hand-Penned Designer Paper. She tattered the edges like the sample, but, I’m not the tattering type, so my edges are smooth and flat, LOL.

Next, I stamped the flowers, from the Nature’s Harvest Stamp Set, in Crumb Cake Ink, and used a Layering Circles Die (2 3/4″) for cutting.

It got really quiet while we were concentrating on coloring with Stampin’ Blends. I used Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo, Real Red, Old Olive and Soft Suede, the colors Peggy suggested. Everyone’s was slightly different, but we were all pleased with the results.

Then, came the “flicking.” I prefer stamping dots, for fear of making a mess. But, Peggy showed us how to “flick” the brush end of the Black Stampin’ Blend to create a spray of tiny dots without too much mess.

“Thank you” is from the Nature’s Harvest Stamp Set, stamped in Crumb Cake Ink on Crumb Cake Cardstock, and cut with a Potted Succulents Die. It is attached with Dimensionals on top of a bow of Very Vanilla Scalloped Lace from the Annual Catalog.

Now, it’s your turn to CASE a card from the catalog. Have fun! Let me know if you need a copy of the July-December 2021 Catalog, [email protected].

A Heart for GDP 304

It’s always fun to CASE a fellow designer, and this week were were challenged to CASE Kirsten Kreis. Hearts are wonderful year-round, and this gave me another opportunity to use the fabulous Floral Heart Die.

By Su Mohr for GDP 304; Click aromasnadart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring : Floral Heart Dies, Ornate Frames Dies, Gingham Ribbon, Painted Christmas Designer Paper, Quiet Meadow Stamp Set, Positive Thoughts Stamp Set; #hearts #heartsoncards #floralheart #Ornateframes #painted Christmas #gingham #positivethoughts #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #stamping #stampinup #gdp304 #case

Floral Heart Hugs

This is Kirsten’s card, and clicking on it will take you to our gallery, where you can hang your design.

I began by using the large, Floral Heart Die to cut Thick Basic White Cardstock. Then, I cut a second heart from Painted Christmas Designer Paper, in a geometric pattern, and placed it in the “cut-out” center.

Wanting to keep it clean & simple, like Kerstin’s, I placed it directly on a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Prior to gluing, I stamped Black Stazon Ink dots, using a stamp from the Quiet Meadows Stamp Set. This is a great “dot” stamp, because I only had to stamp once at the top, and once at the bottom.

Lastly, the sentiment, which I found in the Positive Thoughts Stamp Set. I stamped “hugs” in Stazon Black Ink on Thick Basic White Cardstock, and cut with an Ornate Frames Die. This was the most difficult part of the card, because it required some adjusting. “Hugs” comes with two more words on the stamp, so I used a Sticky Note to mask the words while stamping. And, after cutting with the Ornate Frames Die, I snipped off the end to make the label shorter.

Last, but not least, I folded  a short piece of Gingham Ribbon in half, and glued it beneath the label. Don’t you love this ribbon? It’s one of my favorite products in the new July-December 2021 Mini Catalog.
