The theme this month is “congratulations,” and the first thing I thought of was congratulating friends on the purchase of a new home. It’s such an exciting time, and an important event to celebrate.

Congrats on your new home
For today’s project, I needed something to represent a home, and I found the perfect house in the Hometown Greetings die set. I wanted the house to shine, so I die cut the house from a sheet of Silver Foil.

The second thing I thought of was the “congrats” die from the Sunshine Wishes die set. How would I use the word? I’m a DSP gal, meaning, I love using Stampin’ Up’s Designer Series Paper. A paper series named Petal Promenade was calling to me, where I found an interesting, realistic wreath to surround my silver house.
Next, I thought it would be cool to use the eclipse technique with the word, “congrats,” cutting through the top of the wreath. To blend with the DSP, I chose Smoky Slate cardstock for the card base, layered with Blackberry Bliss cardstock.
The sentiment, “On your new home,” is from the At Home with You stamp set. A label die from the Merry Christmas die set was used for cutting. A Bouquet Bunch die cut the pretty flowers from another piece of the Petal Promenade DSP, and I topped the flowers with pearls.

I completed the inside with a sentiment from the Better Together stamp set. “May life be filled with fond memories.” And, the envelope flap is decorated with a piece of Nature’s Poem DSP in Blackberry Bliss.

I’ve enjoyed sharing today’s project with you. Thanks so much for stopping by, and I wish you a life filled with fond memories!

This week’s What Will You Stamp challenge is featuring the Picked for You stamp set.

Picked for You
The apple is so realistic; it’s fun creating different looks with the 4-step stamping process.

I’m also playing along with the Global Design Project challenge.

I explained my four-step stamping method in this prior post.
Picked for You for Kylie Bertucci’s Top Ten Winners Blog Hop

Picked For You
For today’s card, I already had my apple stamped and cut, but I wanted to mold it for a 3-D effect. I turned the apple over on a Foam Pad, spritzed it with water to soften the paper fibers, and used a stylus in a circular motion.
TIP: Start lightly, increasing pressure slowly, because you don’t want to tear the paper.

I set my apple aside to dry, and began on the background. The Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut DSP makes great stencils, and I chose a pattern I liked with the apple. Since red and green are complementary colors, I “picked” Granny Apple Green and Garden Green for the stenciling treatment on Whisper White cardstock. Holding the stencil in place with my left hand, I used a Sponge Dauber in my right hand, daubing and blending the two colors together.

Next, I chose the sentiment, “You are terrific to the Core,” and stamped it in Granny Apple Green ink. I used the square, Stitched Shapes die for cutting, which happened to be the right size.

Garden Green was the natural choice for a card base, and I added a layer of texture with the Corrugated embossing folder. Before gluing everything down, I cut layers of Granny Apple Green cardstock to border the sentiment and art piece.
The supplies I used are available at my store, listed below. Just as in nature, no two apples are exactly alike, so don’t be intimidated by the stamping process.

I hope you’ve been inspired to play along at What Will You Stamp. I’d love to see your creation in the gallery!

Welcome to the Kre8tors September 2018 Blog Hop. Our theme this month is sympathy cards, where we’ll share ideas for reaching out to loved ones during difficult times. The Blog Hop name list is at the end of my post, or you can click the “next” button to go to Maria’s page.
There is something peaceful about neutral colors, so I chose gray and brown tones for this sympathy card.

Tin Tile Botanical Bliss Bird
I began by stamping the bird from the Botanical Bliss stamp set in Sahara Sand ink on Whisper White cardstock. The bird is stamped in even rows, and “stamped off,” which makes him lighter in color. Then, I stamped the cluster of hearts, from the Love You to Pieces stamp set, in full strength Sahara Sand ink.

With my “bird designer paper” complete, I layered it on Crumb Cake cardstock, to match the Crumb Cake card base I had chosen.
It seemed to call for rounded corners, and our Detailed Trio Punch accomplished this very easily.
The background (first layer on the Crumb Cake card base) was made with two, exciting, new products in the Stampin’ Up 2018 Holiday Catalog. It’s the Galvanized Metallic paper, embossed by the Tin Tile embossing folder.

Are you familiar with antique tin tile? I liked it so much, 18 years ago, we installed a reproduction of it as a backsplash in our kitchen. You can imagine how excited I was to see the Tin Tile embossing folder in the Holiday catalog.

I used Foam Adhesive Strips to adhere my rounded, corner piece to the tin tile layer, before adding some detail to the card front.
The sentiment, “with love and sympathy,” is from Itty Bitty Greetings, and cut with the Classic Label Punch.
The decorative strip is Galvanized Metallic paper, cut with a Petals & More die, and laced with the new Braided Linen Trim.
Finally, I used a Frosted Bouquet die to cut the two sprigs from Whisper White and Sahara Sand cardstock.

I cut one more sprig from Crumb Cake cardstock for the inside. The sentiment, one of my favorites for sympathy cards, is from Flourishing Phrases.
The Tin Tile embossing folder was used one more time to decorate the envelope flap. I couldn’t resist, and it’s great in Whisper White too!

Today’s card brings a smile to my face. I often watch birds soar, and imagine how they feel.

Bird Soaring Among the Clouds
The colors were inspired by this week’s TGIF challenge. Don’t you love Coastal Cabana? I began with it as the card base.

I also used Coastal Cabana for the clouds, applying a stenciling technique. The Pretty Label Punch has a great cloud shape, so I punched one from Thick Whisper White cardstock. Then, using a Sponge Dauber on regular weight, Whisper White cardstock, I added ink around the border of my punched cloud, moving it, and filling in the blank areas with more ink.
TIP: Daubing onto the punched cloud first (before spreading) will prevent making a round spot. You can see my punched cloud is dark from the repeated daubing.

I owe my cloud idea to this week’s challenge at Festive Friday.

The Delightfully Detailed Laser-Cut Paper was perfect for framing my clouds, which I cut to fit. Before gluing the two together, I stamped a row of tree tops (Lovely As A Tree stamp set) in Early Espresso ink.
Next, it was time to start on my soaring bird. I stamped the Serene Garden bird in Early Espresso ink on Thick Whisper White cardstock. Then, I colored her with three Stampin’ Blends: Light and Dark Pumpkin Pie and Ivory.

A Garden Scene Die was used to cut my Pumpkin Pie, soaring bird, and I raised her on dimensionals.

I hope you’re in the mood for Santa, because he is the focal point of today’s project. I love this stamp of Santa and his reindeer from the Hearts Come Home stamp set

Santa Flies Over the Moon
The dark, starry sky was made with a piece of the Twinkle Twinkle Designer Series Paper. I rounded two corners with the Detailed Trio Punch. The Night of Navy card base was layered with Whisper White, embossed with the Oh My Stars embossing folder.

I used Layering Circle dies to make the moon, coloring it with Pineapple Punch ink and a Sponge Dauber. “Merry Christmas” is from the Star of Light stamp set, and cut with a die from Bunch of Banners.

My inspiration for the design is from this week’s CAS(E) this sketch:

The Night of Navy Gingham Ribbon was the final touch. It was calling out to me, and I couldn’t help myself!

Today’s project was in answer to the challenge at Paper Players, Lunchbox Love Notes.

I’m no longer packing lunches, but I was excited to create a masculine, love note for my husband. His favorite cards have Wood Textures and the color brown (surprise, surprise), so I made an effort to please him.

Masculine Wood Textures Love Note
The card base is Soft Suede cardstock, layered with a piece of Share What You Love Designer Series Paper. This is topped with Crumb Cake cardstock, embossed by the Corrugated embossing folder. The corrugated layer is raised on Foam Adhesive Strips.

The focal point has three die cuts, all cut from Wood Textures Designer Series Paper. The heart and the word “love” are from The Sunshine Wishes die set, and “you” is from the Celebrate You die set. They are triple layered for thickness.

You wouldn’t believe how long it took to design this masculine card; almost all day. I was watching the US Open tennis tournament while working, though, so I was distracted.

Now that it’s made, it would be simple to duplicate. You’ll find my products listed below.
Thanks for reading my blog post, but, shhhh, don’t tell my husband about his card. I want to surprise him.
