Thoughtful Journey for Global Design Project 442

This week’s Global Design Project is a sketch challenge, and I’m excited to share a sneak peek of Thoughtful Journey Designer Paper with you. This gorgeous paper will be available May1st!

I began with a Basic Beige card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Then, using a Radiating Stitches Die, I cut another piece of Basic Beige Cardstock, 4″ X 2 5/8″. Basic Beige is a new color that will also be available May 1.

Featuring: Thoughtful Journey, Unbounded Love, Hearts & Hugs, Radiating Stitches Dies, In Color Shimmer Gems; #thoughtfuljourney #unboundedlove #radiatingstitches #gdp422 #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #stamping #stampinup #sumohr #artisandesignteam #sneakpeek

Thoughtful Journey in layers

Next, I cut Thoughtful Journey Designer Paper, using three, Radiating Stitches Dies. The dies were run through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, on top of the DSP, at the same time. The frame that was created with the largest die was glued on the card front.

After adding cardstock for thickness to the top layer, I wound Linen Thread around it, and tied a bow on one end. Then, I attached the top layer with Dimensionals to the middle layer of Basic Beige Cardstock, which was attached with Dimensionals over the frame.

“Have a blessed day” is from another new stamp set, Unbounded Love. It comes bundled with wonderful, Unbounded Love Dies, but I used an extra long die from Hearts & Hugs, another new set! After stamping the sentiment in Mossy Meadow Ink, I attached it on top of the Linen Thread with Dimensionals.

The last step was adding three 2024-2026 In Color Shimmer Gems. This happens to be my Host Code Gift for the month of April, and you can see the details below.

See how our designers used the sketch, then create your own card, and hang it in our gallery.

2024-2026 In Colors on Paint Brushes

Are you ready to fall in love with the new 2024-2026 In Colors? I thought the Trusty Tools paint brush would make a nice display. I stamped the paint brush five times on Basic White Cardstock, and colored them with Stampin’ Blends in the five new colors: Pretty In Pink, Peach Pie, Petunia Pop, Summer Splash, and Shy Shamrock.

By Su Mohr; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! 2024-2026 In Colors

After coloring the paint brushes, I used the Trusty Tools Die for cutting, and placed them on Dimensionals.

I wanted to show off the new In Colors with plenty of space, so today’s card is a slimline. The card base is Basic Gray cardstock, 8 1/2″ X 7″, folded at 3 1/2″, topped with Basic White Cardstock, 3 1/4″ X 8 1/4″. I used our new, extra large embossing folder, So Swirly, to emboss the entire layer.

Prior to embossing, I used a Trusty Tools stamp to stamp “thank you” in Memento Black Ink. I also stamped splatters of In Color ink, using a stamp from the Of Art & Textures Stamp Set.

To complete the design, I added an In Color Resin Dot in each of the five colors.

The 2024-2026 In Color products will be available May 1! The Trusty Tools Bundle is available now, with a 10% discount. After April 30, the stamp set and dies will be sold separately. See the bundles below.

Cake Fancy CASE the Catalog

Before leaving the January-April 2024 Mini Catalog, I wanted to CASE one of my favorite samples. I loved everything about a Cake Fancy sample on page 30, and copied it, almost exactly.

By Su Mohr; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Cake Fancy Stamp Set, Deckled Rectangles Dies, Perennial Lavender DSP, Wonderful Thoughts Dies; #cakefancy #casethecatalog #deserts #desertsoncards #birthdaycards #birthdaycake #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #caseing #stamping #stampinup #sumohr #artisandesignteam #catalogsamples

Cake Fancy

I realized, after starting, that the sample was notecard size, but I used a standard card base of Thick Basic White Cardstock, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Then, I covered the entire card front with a checked pattern of Perennial Lavender Designer Paper.

Next, I used three of the Cake Fancy stamps to stamp the cake in Pecan Pie Ink on Crumb Cake Cardstock. After stamping, I used a Deckled Rectangles Die for cutting, and attached it to the card front with Dimensionals.

The flowers and leaves were stamped in Moody Mauve Ink, Daffodil Delight Ink, and Old Olive Ink on Basic White Cardstock. Then, I used Paper Snips to fussy cut, which was the time consuming part of this project. After gluing the leaves, I attached the cake decorations with Dimensionals, as they were in the sample.

“Enjoy your special day” was stamped in Old Olive, and cut with A Wonderful Thoughts Die. I usually use die-cut labels for sentiments, because I like the finished edges. To raise the sentiment above the decoration, I stacked two Dimensionals beneath the label.

To complete the card, I added Adhesive Backed Swirl Dots to the flower centers, and a bow of Linen Thread beneath the sentiment label. Now, my sweet tooth is making me want a bite of that cake! And the good news is, the Cake Fancy Stamp Set is carrying over to the new annual catalog, so I can continue to make different flavors of cake!

Thoughtful Expressions Hummingbird

For today’s card, I used the Thoughtful Expressions Stamp Set, featuring a hummingbird, who is attracted to beautiful flowers.

I began by stamping the hummingbird and flowers in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock, and coloring them with Stampin’ Blends in five colors: Poppy Parade, Melon Mambo, Old Olive, Granny Apple Green, and Daffodil Delight.

By Su Mohr for the Pals Blog Hop; Click aromasandart.com to go to my blog for details! Hummingbird and Flowers

Prior to coloring, I used the Thoughtful Expressions Dies for cutting. I should point out that the stamp set is carrying over to the new catalog, but the dies are retiring. I discovered, after writing this post, that the dies are no longer available.

Two additional Thoughtful Expression Dies were used for the sentiment. “Where in the world would I be without you” is from the Thoughtful Expressions Stamp Set, Stamped in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock. Then, I attached it, with Dimensionals, to the die-cut of Soft Sea Foam Cardstock.

The layered sentiment was glued to a background, created with the Sketched Plaid Stamp, Granny Apple Green Ink, and Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″. This layer was glued to a Soft Sea Foam card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

After gluing my hummingbird and flowers in place, I added several Adhesive-Backed Shiny Sequins, and my card was complete.

Country Birdhouse for Global Design Project 441

This week’s Global Design Project is a color challenge, using Balmy Blue, Lemon Lolly, and Fresh Freesia. See how our designers used the colors, then create your own design, and hang it in our gallery.

I’ll be giving you a sneak peek of the Country Birdhouse Bundle from the 2024-2025 Annual Catalog, because a cute, little, bird from that set insisted on participating in this challenge. Her reasoning was that she is the color of Lemon Lolly, and her name is Lolly, so I HAD to use her.

By Su Mohr for GDP441; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Country Birdhouse, Stylish Shapes Dies; #countrybirdhouse #birds #birdsoncards #stylishshapesdies #ornaments #birthdaycards #colorcombos #colorchallenges #gdp441 #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #stampinmblends #coloring #colorchallenges

Lolly’s Ornament

Lolly said all I had to do was stamp her in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock, twice, and use her Country Birdhouse Die for cutting. After coloring two birds with Lemon Lolly Stampin’ Blends, I asked about the second bird. She said I needed to fussy cut the wing from the second bird, so I could lift her wing on a Dimensional. I liked her idea!

Next, Lolly said I could use her birdhouse later, because she wanted to make an ornament for this card. We found a large, Stylish Shapes circle die, to make a stencil. I placed this over a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, and used a Small Blending Brush with Balmy Blue Ink for coloring.

The Country Birdhouse Die Set has great flowers for decorating Lolly’s ornament. We cut five flowers from Fresh Freesia Cardstock, and glued them in place.

To hang the ornament, I stamped a chain, from the Country Birdhouse Stamp Set, in Memento Black Ink. Then, I added a Basic Black Cardstock bow, cut with A Country Birdhouse Die.

Lolly wanted to perch on a perfectly shaped, Stylish Shapes label. I stamped “Happy Birthday” in Memento Black Ink, and attached it with Dimensionals. I thought our card was complete, but she said the flowers needed some bling. So, I added Tinsel Gems to the centers of the flowers, and now she is very excited about her ornament.

Easter Lilies Artisan Creative Project

Lilies are beautiful, springtime flowers, and I chose the Easter Lilies Bundle for my Creative Artisan Project. I’m especially drawn to them now, because Lily is my granddaughter’s name.

By Su Mohr for Artisan Design Team; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Easter Lilies Bundle, Mini Alphabet Dies, Perennial Postage Dies, Cane Weave Embossing Folder, Bright & Beautiful DSP, Meandering Meadow DSP; #easterlilies #alphabetdies #perennialpostage #caneweave #eastercards #handmadecards #cardmaking #artisandesignteam #stamping #stampinup #sumohr

Easter Lilies

Easter Lilies Dies were used to cut the flower petals from Basic White Cardstock. Then, I colored the centers with Small Blending Brushes, and two colors of ink: Daffodil Delight and Granny Apple Green.

The sentiment was stamped in Memento Black Ink on Vellum Cardstock, and cut with a Perennial Postage Die. This allowed the complete, stamped lily to be seen. The palm branch was stamped in Garden Green Ink, colored with Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends, and given a shadow with an additional die-cut from designer paper.

The Mini Alphabet Dies make it easy to personalize a tag. The letters were cut from designer paper, adhered to a Foam Adhesive Sheet for dimension. Perennial Postage Dies were used to create the tag. The Lily buds can be die-cut, but were stamped directly on the tag in my project.

All of the supplies used to create the three projects are in my Product List below.
