Congratulations In Good Taste

Today’s card developed from a fun challenge showing a sketch, and a contemporary gray/blue room with a spot of red. I think it’s suitable for male or female, and chose “congratulations” for the sentiment.

Contemporary Congratulations

I began with a Smoky Slate card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. The next layer is Misty Moonlight Cardstock, 4 3/4″ X 3 1/2″. The tile wall is In Good Taste Designer Paper, cut 1/8″ smaller. Isn’t it great? This paper is one of the nine designer papers on sale this month, which you can see below. Clicking on the pictures takes you to my store for ordering, where you’ll see the sale prices.

The photographic quality of In Good Taste Designer Paper adds wonderful dimension and texture to a smooth, flat surface. It’s at a higher price, because you get twice as much as the normal packs. The wood is amazing, and it’s great for masculine cards. You need it!

Next, I stamped the flower from the Color & Contour Stamp Set in Cherry Cobbler Ink, and used its Scalloped Contours Die for cutting. It has a stamp for coloring, which I “stamped off” to make it a lighter shade of Cherry Cobbler.

The branch beneath the flower was cut with a Forever Flourishing Die from In Good Taste Designer Paper. Can you tell it’s the same paper I used for photographing my card?

“Congratulations” is from the Art Gallery Stamp Set, stamped in Misty Moonlight Ink on concrete, and cut with a Floral Gallery Die. It’s not really concrete; just wanted to see if you were paying attention. It’s actually another pattern of In Good Taste Designer Paper.

I glued the branch to the back of the flower, attached them with Dimensionals, and added three silver, Metallic Pearls.

Now you can see how I was inspired by the Fusion challenge.

Happy Day

Today’s clean & simple card is a combination of Pansy Petals and Expressions In Ink Designer Paper.

By Su Mohr for FMS; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Expressions In Ink Designer Paper, Pansy Petals Designer Paper, Word Wishes Dies, Ornate Layers Dies, Pansy Patch Stamp Set; #wordwishes #paperwords #ornatelayers #pansypatch #pansypetals #ginghampaper #expressionsinink #cardsketches #cardchallenges #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #happyday

Happy Day

This “clean & simple” card began with a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Then, I used an Ornate Layers Die to cut the center, gingham panel. It is one of 12 designs of  Pansy Petals Designer Paper, which is on sale for the month of July. All of the designer papers that are on sale are listed below, and clicking on the pictures will take you to my store for ordering, where you will see the sale prices.

I layered the gingham panel for thickness, and attached it to the card base with Dimensionals.

Next, I fussy cut three flowers from Expressions In Ink Designer Paper (not on sale), using my Stampin’ Up! Paper Snips. I glued the first flower flat, the second one on Dimensionals, and the smallest one on doubled Dimensionals.

The flowers have gold centers, so I thought it would be fun to use Gold Foil for the sentiment. I used two of the Word Wishes Dies to cut “Happy Day.” This is a great set, if you like paper words, because it has lots of holidays. It’s in my Product List below, and if you click on the picture you’ll see the words clearly, instead of backwards.

Most often, I leave the inside blank, but I knew the verse I wanted for this card. I stamped this sentiment from the Pansy Patch Stamp Set in Old Olive Ink on Basic White Cardstock (4″ X 5 1/4″) “Wishing you a little extra happiness just because you’re you.” I glued this to the inside, and my card was complete.

I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.

Just To Say…

When you want to send a card “just to say…,” the Floral Gallery Die Set has the perfect words! The word “want” is included in the die, which is all in one piece, but the words cut out separately. I used Evening Evergreen Cardstock for today’s card. It’s a wonderful, dark green that stands out like black.

Just To Say…

The background for my words is from Pansy Petals Designer Paper in Soft Succulent gingham, cut with a Scalloped Contours Die. I layered this on a Soft Succulent card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Pansy Petals Designer Paper is one of nine Stampin’ Up! Designer Papers on sale for the month of July, pictured below. Clicking on the pictures will take you to my store, where you’ll see the sale prices.

The strip below the words was made with 2021-2023 In Color 6X6 Designer Paper, cut with an Ornate Layers Die. And, the bottom strip was made with Basic White Cardstock, cut with a Stitched Rectangles Die (3″ X 1″).

Before gluing the strips to the card front, I stamped the sentiment in Evening Evergreen Ink. “You made my day!” is from the Ornate Thanks Stamp Set. I love how it completes the words, “just to say.”

Now for the pretty pansy. Yes, it’s from one of the sheets of Pansy Petals Designer Paper, and it has Pansy Dies for cutting. How fun is that!

I attached the pansy to my card with Dimensionals, and further embellished with Loose Flower Flourishes in Polished Pink to match. The plastic flowers are holding fast with Tombow Liquid Glue.

Artistically Inked Bloom

Polished Pink, Fresh Freesia, and Granny Apple Green, YUM! This color combo called for a flower, and Artistically Inked was the perfect bundle!

By Su Mohr for TGIF; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Artistically Inked Stamp Set, Artistic Dies, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Ornate Frames Dies, 2021-2023 In Color 6X6 Paper; #artisticallyinked #artisticdies #flowers #flowersoncards handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #cardchallenges #colorcombos #sumohr #aromasandart.com #aromasandart.com/shop #carddesigns #stamping #stampinup

Artistic Bloom

I began with a Fresh Freesia card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″), covered with patterned, Fresh Freesia from In Colors 2021-2023 Designer Paper, cut 1/8″ smaller.

The top layer is Basic White Cardstock, cut with the second to largest Stitched Rectangles Die.

Next, I used  the fabulous leaf die to cut Thick Basic White Cardstock, which you can see in the first picture. Check out the entire bundle in my Product List below.

After cutting the white leaves, I added green leaves by stamping the leaves, from the Artistically Inked Stamp Set, in Granny Apple Green Ink, and using their die for cutting. Then, I glued the three sets of leaves to the back of the white leaves.

My bloom was stamped in Polished Pink Ink, stamped off for a lighter effect, and cut with its die. I tucked it between the leaves, turned the whole piece over, and applied Dimensionals.

“Hello” is also from the Artistically Inked Stamp Set, stamped in Stazon Black Ink, and cut with an Ornate Frames Die. I used the same patterned paper to back it with a die-cut, a size larger. Isn’t that fun?

I was inspired by TGIF.

Beauty Of The Earth for GDP 299

This week’s Global Design Project is all about the sky. I found the most beautiful, blue, sky in Beauty Of The Earth Designer Paper, and combined it  with the Mountain Air Stamp Set and Majestic Mountain Dies.

Beauty Of The Earth happens to be one of nine selections of Designer Paper on sale this month. Details below.

This “clean & simple” card would definitely work for a guy, don’t you think?

Blue Sky

First, I stamped the mountain range, from the Mountain Air Stamp Set, in Highland Heather Ink on Basic White Cardstock, 4 1/4″ X 2″. Then, I used its Majestic Mountain Die for cutting.

Second, I stamped the trees, from the same set, in Evening Evergreen Ink on Beauty Of The Earth Designer Paper, and used its Majestic Mountain Die for cutting.

Next, I stamped the sentiment from the Beautiful Moments Stamp Set, “collect beautiful moments.” It was stamped in Evening Evergreen Ink, just like the trees, to keep it subtle.

Third, I used the largest Stitched Rectangles Die to cut the sky from  Beauty Of The Earth Designer Paper. The birds were stamped in Misty Moonlight Ink, also from the Mountain Air Stamp Set.

Fourth, I used the largest Stitched Rectangles Die to cut the mountain range and trees, making the strips fit perfectly within the rectangle.

After gluing the mountain range and trees on the sky, I attached the entire rectangle to a Misty Moonlight card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

I hope you are inspired by my “clean & simple” card, and will consider adding your own “sky” creation to our gallery.

Sparkles the Bear for July 4th

Meet Sparkles the bear, from the Count On Me Stamp Set. She is appropriately named, because she loves the fireworks that fill the sky on the 4th of July.

I stamped her in Early Espresso Ink on Basic White Cardstock, and colored her with  Stampin’ Blends in Crumb Cake and Soft Suede, and her heart is Real Red. Isn’t she adorable?

Sparkles

The first thing Sparkles chose for her card was the red and white striped paper, a Pattern Party Designer Paper. She said it looked like the American flag, and I agreed. To give it the detailed edge, I used the second largest Scalloped Contours Die for cutting.

For even more detail, I layered this on Basic White Cardstock, cut with the largest Scalloped Contours Die. Then, this was layered on a Night Of Navy card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Sparkles was excited to find the perfect sentiment in the Queen Anne’s Lace Stamp Set, “celebrating all the wonderful things about you.” She loves all  her global friends, but she wanted to celebrate America today.

I stamped the sentiment in Night Of Navy Ink on Thick Basic White Cardstock, and used the smallest Scalloped Contours Die for cutting. Before attaching the sentiment label with Dimensionals, I threaded red, Playful Pets Ribbon, through holes in the largest scalloped die-cut, with the short ends taped on the back. Then, I used a Glue Dot to attach the bow. It has the appearance of going all the way around, but saves ribbon this way.

Sparkles wanted to stand on top of the label, and is anxiously waiting for the fireworks shows to begin.

Sparkles wanted to join the Paper Players challenge.
