Elfie the helper

I’d like you to meet Elfie. He chose his name, because when decorating needs to be done, he said he’s just like Santa’s elves. His favorite part of decorating is helping with the lights, if you couldn’t guess.

The paper with the lights was cut with a Stitched Rectangles Die, 1 1/4″ X 3 1/4″, layered on Evening Evergreen Cardstock, cut with a Stitched Rectangles Die, 1 3/4″ X 3 3/4″.

Elfie’s background is another Sweet Stocking’s paper in Pool Party, cut with the largest Stitched Rectangles Die. Isn’t it beautiful with the Evening Evergreen card base ? Evening Evergreen wasn’t my favorite of the new In-Colors when I first saw it, but it’s growing on me, and will be fabulous for Christmas cards. Like black, it makes the other colors pop.

The sentiment, “Ho Ho Ho,” is from the Perfectly Plaid Stamp Set, stamped in Evening Evergreen Ink, and cut with the smallest Stitched Rectangles Die. It made a comfortable spot for Elfie to sit, atop Dimensionals. I added three Matte Decorative Dots, because Elfie promised not to eat them.

I guess it’s official; I’ve made my first Christmas card for 2021, with Elfie’s help!

I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.

Seascape Birthday Fish

Today’s card made me think of the lyrics: “Summertime, And the living is easy, Fish are jumping, And cotton is high.”

I began with a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. There is a Basic White,  Seaside Seashell die cut, that covers the front of the card. Prior to gluing it in place, I embossed it with the Seashells Embossing Folder. This is so cool, you may have to see it to believe it! Check it out in my Product List.

Birthday Fish

The next step was cutting two circles, using the largest, Layering Circles Dies. The scalloped circle was cut from Night Of Navy Cardstock, and the plain circle was cut from Basic White Cardstock. Then, I used a Blending Brush and Misty Moonlight Ink to turn the white circle into an ocean, glued them together, and attached with Dimensionals.

My fish is from the Seascape Stamp Set, stamped in Bumblebee Ink, fussy cut, and attached with Dimensionals. How do you like his eye? It’s an Artistry Blooms Self-Adhesive Sequin. He asked for something good to eat, so I gave him some Just Jade coral, cut with a Sea Life Die.

This sentiment, from the Whale Done Stamp Set, is so cute, I had to use it. I stamped, “Hoping all your birthday fishes come true,” in Night Of Navy Ink, and used a Stitched So Sweetly Die for cutting.

I was inspired by the Paper Players.

Quiet Meadow Bouquet for the Pals Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop! This month, the theme is “Wonderful Cards/Projects from the Garden” where our design team showcase projects from things found in a garden, such as flowers, vegetables, fruits, or even a garden scene. We really hope that you enjoy and will be inspired by them! As you hop from blog to blog, don’t forget to leave comments because we love hearing from you. Once you finish here, you will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

When thinking of the garden theme for the Pal’s Hop this month, I was drawn to one of my favorite bundles, Quiet Meadow. And, it was fun experimenting with  Watercolor Paper and a Water Painter to make a wildflower bouquet.

By Su Mohr for Pals Blog Hop; Click aromasandart to go to my website for details! Featuring: Meadow Dies, Watercolor Paper, Ornate Layers Dies, Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder; #watercoloring #watercolorpaper #quietmeadow #meadowdies #wildflowers #ornatelayers #flowers #flowersoncards #gardens #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart #aromasandart.com/shop #bouquets

Wildflower Bouquet

I began by using three of the Meadow Dies to cut from Watercolor Paper. Since Watercolor Paper is nice and thick, this made the delicate stems sturdy.

Using a Water Painter I colored the stems by adding ink from the ink pad, and letting the water soften the color as I painted. Three greens were used: Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, and Garden Green. I used the same method for the flowers, in three colors: Flirty Flamingo, Crushed Curry, and Pale Papaya.

It’s easy to change colors with one brush, because you just squeeze the water through the brush until it’s clear.

Once I had my pretty flowers, I decided on a background of Basic White Cardstock, cut with the largest Ornate Layers Die, and embossed with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder. I layered this on an earthy, Crumb Cake card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Next, I tied the flowers together with Linen Thread, and placed Mini Dimensionals on the back of the flowers. Then, using a Glue Dot to hold the stems in place I attached the flowers.

The sentiment, “LOVE” is in the Quiet Meadow Stamp Set, which fits perfectly on the tag, cut with a Meadow Die. I stamped it in Crumb Cake Ink, and attached it with a Dimensional, so it looks like it’s tied.

Here are three more samples of the wonderful Quiet Meadow Bundle, created by the Stampin’ Up! design team.

Thank you for stopping by. This was such a fun project, and you can check out my supplies in the Product List below.

More inspiration awaits, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team, because the Pals are excited to show you what they’ve created! Then, please mark your calendars for our next blog hop on August 11th. Our theme will be “My Happiest Season” when our Design Team creates a project showcase projects inspired by their favorite season of the year. Until then, have fun in your craft space.

Stitched Triangles Within A Rectangle

Today’s card was an experiment of combining the Stitched Triangles Dies with Stitched Rectangles Dies, and this combo was a fun discovery.

By Su Mohr for TGIF; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for instructions! Featuring: Beauty Of The Earth Designer Paper, Celebrate With Flowers Stamp Set, Artistically Inked Stamp Set, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Stitched Triangles Dies; #beautyoftheearth #celebratewithflowers #artisticallyinked #stitchedtriangles #trianglesoncards #cardtechniques #cardsketches #cardchallenges #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #stamping #stampinup

Stitched Triangles

The idea began with a sketch challenge, which you can see below. First, I cut a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Next, I used the second largest Stitched Rectangles Die to cut a layer of Basic White Cardstock. Then, I backed this with Misty Moonlight Cardstock that was cut 1/8″ larger.

Now, for the fun discovery. The largest triangle, with the right angle, fits perfectly within the second largest Stitched Rectangle! You can refer to the picture of the dies in my Product List to see what I mean.

I was excited to cut two triangles from Beauty Of The Earth Designer Paper; blue sky for the top, and foliage for the bottom. This is one of the fabulous designer papers on sale for the month of July. You can see all of the selections below. Clicking on the pictures takes you to my store for ordering, where you’ll see the sale prices.

Before gluing things together, I stamped “Hello,” in Misty Moonlight Ink, at the corner of the sky. It’s from the Artistically Inked Stamp Set. Also stamped in Misty Moonlight Ink, is the diagonal row of flowers from the Celebrate With Flowers Stamp Set. Doesn’t it look like the flower in the TGIF sketch?

Here’s the TGIF sketch:

Beauty Of Friendship for Global Design Project 300

The Beauty Of Friendship Bundle has wonderful dies and sentiments, which are featured on today’s card. You can see the entire bundle in my Product List below.

Beauty of Friendship

This card was especially fun to design, because our assignment was to “case” Steffi Helmschrott. Continue being inspired, then it’s your turn to give it a try!

My design began with the beautiful splotch behind the tree, easily created with a stamp from the  Artistically Inked Stamp Set, and the Stamparatus. I secured Basic White Cardstock, 3″ X 5 1/4″, on the platform of the Stamparatus, and attached the stamp to the lid of the Stamparatus. Then, using Stampin’ Write Markers in three colors (Balmy Blue, Granny Apple Green, and Shaded Spruce), I colored the stamp, and brought the lid down, inking the paper .

This may be known by other names, but I call it the “ink to stamp” technique, and it’s a great way to add a variety of color to a stamped image.

Stampin’ Write Markers can be ordered in color groups, which you can see in my Product List. I used the brush end for coloring, holding it sideways, so it wouldn’t ruin the point of the brush.

Next, I glued my pretty splotch to Subtles 6X6 Designer Paper in Balmy Blue, cut to 4″ X 5 1/4″. And, this was glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. This is a retired pattern, but there are four new ones that would work as well.

The tree was cut from Thick Basic White Cardstock using a Beautiful Trees Die. It is beautiful, isn’t it? The sentiment, “Thinking of you,” is from the Beauty Of Friendship Stamp Set, stamped in Balmy Blue Ink, and cut with a Beautiful Trees Die.

Right after I added the Artistry In Bloom Sequins, a little bird flew onto my card, saying she was the most beautiful die in the set, and wanted to be included. I agreed, as long as she promised to stay on her perch.

Stamping Sunday Blog Hop All Stitched Up

Welcome to Stampin’ Sunday! This month we are featuring “stitched dies,” and I have used three different sets of dies for today’s card and gift bag.

By Su Mohr for Stampin' Sunday Blog Hop; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Count On Me Stamp Set, Stitched Leaves Dies, Stitched With Whimsy Dies, Ombre Gift Bags, Taylor Made Tags; #countonme #stitcheddies #stitchedleaves #Tailormadetags #giftbags #stitchedwithwhimsy #koalas #eucalyptus #sumohr #aromasandart.com/shop #handmadecards #handcrafted #diy #cardmaking #papercrafting #stamping #stampinup

Koalas

My idea began with adorable koalas from the Count On Me Stamp Set, stamped in Memento Black Ink, and colored with Gray Granite Stampin’ Blends.

Did you know koalas aren’t really bears? I called them that for years.

They love to eat Eucalyptus leaves.

There is a Stitched Leaves Die that looks close enough to the real thing, that I cut from three colors of cardstock: Soft Succulent, Just Jade, and Garden Green.

This die set is great, because it has embossing dies that make stitched veins for each of the leaves. You can see the entire set in my Product List below.

The background for my koalas and leaves is Thick Basic White Cardstock, with borders created with Stitched Whimsy Dies. I used the largest die on the card base, which is 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

The koalas are on a 2″ X 2″ square, embossed with a smaller, Stitched with Whimsy Die, that was a perfect fit.

Prior to attaching everything, I stamped the sentiment in Memento Black Ink. “No matter what I’m here for you” is from the Count On Me Stamp Set, along with the coordinating sentiment on the bag, “Through thick and thin, count me in!”

I added three Loose Flower Flourishes to the card, to coordinate with the Fresh Freesia Ombre Gift Bag. A pin dot of Tombow Liquid Glue is holding them securely.

The sentiment on the bag was cut with a die from the third die set I used today, Tailor Made Tags. If you look in my Product List, you’ll see there are two tags in four sizes with hole reinforcers. So fabulous!

I used the largest Stitched with Whimsy Die to add a detailed border to the bag, which shows on the back also.

The largest tag was used to cut Fresh Freesia, 2021-2023 In Color 6″ X 6″ Designer Paper.  Metallic Mesh Ribbon fit through the holes to tie the tags together, with the largest glued to the bag, and the smaller lifted on Dimensionals.

The bags can be used as envelopes, or to hold a small gift. I know you will like them, so I chose them as my “host code” gift for the month of July.
