There was a lot of commotion in my craft room today. The dog and cat were fighting over whose turn it was to appear on a card, and they were both mad at me, because it had been a long time for either one! I settled the argument by agreeing to use both of them on a Valentine card.

Hey, friend
I even let them choose their fur, and they both liked the pastel shades of Fine Art Floral Designer Paper. Cat Punch preferred pink, Dog Punch chose yellow, and they sat still while I punched them out of the patterned paper.
Next, was the heart, cut with a Be Mine Stitched Die from a beautiful, pastel section of Fine Art Floral Designer Paper. We were happy with this selection, and all three, the heart, the dog, and the cat, were backed with cardstock for thickness.

In spite of arguing once in a while, the dog and cat really are friends, and wanted to say “hey, friend” from the Itty Bitty Greetings Stamp Set. Cat wanted me to stamp it in pink ink, and Dog wanted yellow ink, so I went with the neutral, Balmy Blue Ink. They said it brought out the blue flower in the heart, so they were appeased, as long as I used the smallest Stitched So Sweetly Die for cutting. I think it worked perfectly, don’t you?

For the background, they wanted Basic White Cardstock, 5 1/4″ X 4″, embossed with the Ornate Floral Embossing Folder. This was really my idea, but I let them think it was theirs. I glued this to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/4″, folded at 4 1/4″, and attached the heart with Dimensionals. Then, they jumped on top of their Dimensionals, and said, in unison, “but, what about our envelope?” I used my very, easy, way to decorate an envelope flap to complete their card:
I cut a piece of designer paper 5 3/4″ X 2 1/4″, added a thin line of Liquid Glue around the edge of the envelope flap, and attached the paper. Then, using my Paper Snips, I cut the excess, with the edge of the flap as a template.
You can see the envelope in the first picture, decorated with another pattern of Fine Art Floral Designer Paper. At the last minute, they wanted to add a Ladybug Trinket, which is this month’s host code gift, but I said, “next time.”

I was inspired by the Paper Players, and chose the top row across: die-cut, animal, scene.

Today’s card has Mother Hen welcoming her hatched brood. I stamped the hen and one egg in Memento Black Ink on Thick Basic White Cardstock. After cutting, they were colored with Stampin’ Blends, pictured above: Mango Melody, Cajun Craze, Pumpkin Pie, and Ivory, and placed on Dimensionals.
Three of the eggs were stamped on Basic White Cardstock, and I used an Ornate Layers Die for cutting.

The background is plaid, Berry Delightful Designer Paper, part of the FREE Sale-A-Bration Berry Blessings Set with a qualifying order of $100. I used the largest Stitched Rectangles Die for cutting.

“Welcome” is from the Welcoming Window Stamp Set, stamped in Memento Black Ink on Thick Basic White Cardstock, and cut with a Special Day Die. This bubble die is great for helping animals talk, don’t you think?

I was inspired by TGIF to use plaid.

Welcome to February 1st, the month of Valentines. I love using hearts on cards year-round, but I go “heart crazy” in January and February. It was my mother’s favorite holiday, and I know she would like this card.

Strung Hearts
Before I explain today’s card, I want to congratulate the winner of my January Drawing…..Yay, Sherriann F.! You will receive a $20.00 or less Stampin’ Up! item of your choice from the current catalogs, so contact me with your choice.
All of my customers who ordered a minimum of $50.00 will receive the Whale Of A Time Sequins, plus one of my handmade cards, as soon as I receive my order from Stampin’ Up!
You can see my February gift offering below today’s card description.

Now, for today’s Valentine. First, I used a Textured Essentials stamp to give the three hearts a pretty, floral, pattern. I stamped them in Sahara Sand Ink, Rococo Rose Ink, and Blushing Bride Ink on Thick Basic White Cardstock.

After stamping, I used a Stitched Be Mine Die for cutting, and punched two holes in each heart, stringing them with Linen Thread.
The backgound was created with Basic White Cardstock, cut with the largest Ornate Layers Die, and embossed with the Tasteful Textile Embossing Folder.
Before gluing the white layer to the Sahara Sand card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″), I attached the hearts with Dimensionals, and taped the Linen Thread to the back.

The sentiment is from the Quite Curvy Stamp Set, stamped in Sahara Sand Ink, and cut with a Potted Succulents Die. The complete sentiment is “made with love just for you,” but I eliminated “just for you” by masking (covering with paper) the words when I stamped.
To complete my Valentine, I added a few Woven Threads Sequins.

My inspiration for today’s Valentine was from the Global Design Project. They are perfect colors for Valentines, don’t you think? We’d love to see the cards you create, with these colors, hanging in our gallery. Please join in the fun!

I’ve already expressed how much I love the Welcoming Window Bundle, and the feeling continues.

Vellum Window & Vase
Today’s card actually began with the flower vase. I used a Window Flower Box Die for cutting, and was happy that Vellum Cardstock made it look like glass. The flowers were created with two-step stamping on my Stamparatus. After positioning the greenery on Basic White Cardstock, I stamped with Soft Sea Foam Ink. Then, I placed the flower stamp on top of the stamped greenery, stamped with Petal Pink Ink, and cut the bouquet with its Window Flower Box Die.

Next, I cut the window from Thick Basic White Cardstock, using its Window Flower Box Die. And, the Vellum was handy, so I decided to add “glass” window panes by gluing a piece to the back of the window.
The shutters were stamped in Sahara Sand Ink on Thick Basic White Cardstock, cut with their die, and attached with Dimensionals.

The window is surrounded by white bricks, created with Basic White Cardstock (5 1/4″ X 4″) and the Brick & Mortar Embossing Folder.
Prior to embossing, I used the window die to cut a hole where I wanted to place the window. This led to attaching the brick layer with Dimensionals on the Thick Basic White card base (8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″), for additional dimension.
The sentiment is from the Welcoming Window Stamp Set. I stamped “wishing our paths crossed a little more often” in Crumb Cake Ink on Thick Basic White Cardstock, 4 3/4″ X 1/2″, also attached with Dimensionals.

Talk about wonderful inspiration! I think you can see how I came up with my card design; the sketch and the photo from Fusion.

January’s Paper Pumpkin Kit, Sending Hearts, has an adorable snail, so I HAD to create an “alternative” using the word “mail.” If you missed out on this month’s kit, snails are available in the Snailed It Bundle, which you can see in my Product List below.

Snail Mail
First, I used the largest Stitched So Sweetly Die to give a scalloped edge to the mailbox, art piece, from the kit. Then, I attached it with Dimensionals to the card base from the kit.

Next, I cut a 1″ strip from another card base, adhered it to a 1″ strip of a Foam Adhesive Sheet, and used the Playful Alphabet Dies for cutting.
Now, for the focal point, the cute snail. I stamped him in Memento Black Ink on Thick Basic White Cardstock, and colored him with Real Red and Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends.
After cutting, I peeled the backs from the Foam Adhesive Sheet, and attached the snail and “MAIL.”

Not only do the Paper Pumpkin kits have nice, thick, card bases, they also include envelopes, so my card is ready to send.

The Whale Of A Time Designer Paper was speaking “shells” to me, so I thought I’d give it a try.
The first thing I did was select the pattern of Pretty Peacock Designer Paper, 5 1/4″ X4″. Then, I used the large Seaside Shells Die to cut from Pretty Peacock Cardstock for some snipped seaweed to match the Whale Of A Time Designer Paper.

Friends & Shells
Next, I cut a card base from Pretty Peacock Cardstock, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, along with the frame in the center.
For the frame, I used two Stitched Rectangles Dies, placed them on top of Pretty Peacock Cardstock, and adhered to a Foam Adhesive Sheet.
Prior to attaching the frame to the card front, I prepared another piece of Whale of A Time Designer Paper by stamping the sentiment in Pretty Peacock Ink. The sentiment is from the Friends Are Like Seashells Stamp Set, and perfect to be framed, don’t you think?

I created the shells using the emboss-resist technique. First, I stamped the shells in VersaMark on Basic White Cardstock, sprinkled with Clear Embossing Powder, and set with the Heat Tool.
Next, I used Blending Brushes to color the shells with Sahara Sand and Blushing Bride Ink. A circular motion made it easy to apply the ink, and afterwards I rubbed the surface with a tissue to remove ink from the embossed lines. The thick, white lines made fussy cutting a breeze, and I adhered the shells on top of the bits of seaweed.

Finally, I added some Whale Of A Time Sequins. Do you see the tiny shells? Aren’t they adorable?! They are my host code gift this month, and you can see how to earn the sequins below.

I was inspired by Freshly Made Sketches.
