This week’s Global Design Project is an “animal” theme. We would love to see your animal themed cards, and don’t forget to tag it #gdp551.

I HAD to feature my favorite bear, Winnie the Pooh, on a birthday card.

Silly Old Bear

Winnie the Pooh is sharing the spotlight with his favorite friend, Piglet. They were cut with Sweet Old Friend Dies from Silly Old Bear Designer Paper. After layering them for thickness, I placed them on Dimensionals.

The animals are sitting on Basic White Cardstock, cut with a Sweet Words & Labels Die. After cutting, I stamped it in Crumb Cake Ink, from the Sweet Words & Labels Stamp Set, giving the white frame a detailed border. I layered this on Basic Beige Cardstock, cut with a Sweet Words & Labels Die a size larger. The frames are attached with Dimensionals to Silly Old Bear Designer Paper in a Barely Blush, checked pattern, 4″ X 5 1/4″. The card base is Basic Beige Cardstock, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

The sentiment, “wishing you good things,” from the Banner Sayings Stamp Set, was stamped in Crumb Cake Ink. The balloon was cut with a Balloon Festoon Die from 2026-2028 In Color Pearlized Specialty Paper. And, the string and balloon highlight were cut with Balloon Festoon Dies from Basic White Cardstock.

Sympathy Card for TGIF Challenge

To see photos correctly, please click “read on blog.”

This week’s TGIF Challenge is “color,” using Smoky Slate, Night Of Navy, and Granny Apple Green. I can’t wait to see how YOU use the colors. Please join our challenge, and tag your entry #tgifc580.

I thought the colors would be nice on a sympathy card.

By Su Mohr for tgifc580; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Prayers & Promises, Boutique Blossoms Bundle, Eyelet Blooms Die, Scalloped Blooms Dies; #prayersandpromises #boutiqueblossoms #scallopedblooms #handmadecard #handcrafted #diy #stampinup #sympathycards

Boutique Blossoms Sympathy

The first thing I did was cut Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″ with the Eyelet Blooms Die. This was glued to a Smoky Slate card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. After I created my card, I saw that the Eyelet Blooms Die has sold out. This is going to happen to Products of the Month, so if you like this month’s, Wild Bunch Stamp Set, don’t wait to order. You can see it below.

Next, I stamped flowers, from the Boutique Blossoms Stamp Set, in Night Of Navy Ink on Basic White Cardstock. I stamped the “outline” stamp first, and stamped the “coloring” stamp second. Then, I used the Boutique Blossoms Dies for cutting. Before attaching the flowers to the card front, I cut leaves from Granny Apple Green Cardstock with a Boutique Blossoms Die, and glued them in place.

The sentiment, “so sorry for your loss,” is from the Promises & Prayers Stamp Set. I stamped it in Night Of Navy Ink, used a Scalloped Blooms Die for cutting, and attached it with Dimensionals.

Winnie the Pooh & Friends Fun Fold

To see photos correctly, please click “read on blog.”

Today’s card is a CASE (copy and selectively edit) of a card I made in April, To create the card base, I cut Soft Sea Foam Cardstock 8″ X 4 1/4″, scored at 2 1/2″. Then, I glued two pieces of striped, Silly Old Bear Designer Paper, to the card base: 5 1/4″ X 4″ (inside) and 2 1/4″ X 4″ (front).

Pooh, Piglet and Friends

Next, I used the largest Sweet Words & Labels Die to cut Soft Sea Foam Cardstock. This die was used two more times to cut Silly Old Bear Designer Paper: the map on the front, and the table of friends on the inside.

After gluing the map to the Soft Sea Foam, I glued this to the 2 1/2″ front fold. Then, I glued the table of friends to the inside, careful to line up the die-cuts, so the inside isn’t visible when the card is closed.

The sentiment, “the best kind of days are the days spent together,”  is from the Sweet Words & Labels Stamp Set. I stamped it in Early Espresso Ink on Soft Sea Foam Cardstock, used a Sweet Words & Labels Die for cutting, and glued it in place. Winnie the Pooh and Piglet were cut with Sweet Old Friends Dies from Silly Old Bear Designer Paper. I layered them with Very Vanilla Cardstock to make them nice and sturdy on Dimensionals.

Here is the card I made in April, using the Scalloped Blooms Dies.

Relaxing Waterside for Global Design Project

To see photos correctly, please click “read on blog.”

This week’s Global Design Project is a sketch challenge. My first decision was to use the Relaxing Waterside Bundle.

I was excited to cut the fabulous, Relaxing Waterside chair from Country Woods Designer Paper. I actually cut the chair from six of the wood patterns before choosing the brown chair you see. The others will probably show up on different cards.

By Su Mohr for GDP550; Click aromasandart.com to go to my website for details! Featuring: Waterside Retreat, Relaxing Waterside, Bloom Boutique, Country Woods Stylish Shapes Dies; #watersideretreat #relaxingwaterside #countrywoods #stylishshapes #fish #birthday #chair #handmadecard #cardmaking #stampinup #fathersday #masculine

Relaxing Waterside

Next, I used the largest, square, Stylish Shapes Die, to cut a scene from Waterside Retreat Designer Paper.

Then, I used the smallest, square, Stylish Shapes Die, to cut four patterns of Waterside Retreat Designer Paper. “Dad” is from the Relaxing Waterside Stamp Set, stamped in Early Espresso Ink on one of the squares. Before attaching the squares, I cut a pattern of Bloom Boutique Designer Paper, 4″ X 5 1/4″.  This Peaceful Pine, wavy, pattern was glued to a Peaceful Pine card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″. Then, I glued the large, scene, flat, layered the small squares on cardstock, and attached them with Dimensionals.

For the inside, I glued Basic White Cardstock, 4″ X 5 1/4″.  “Have a great birthday” is from the Relaxing Waterside Stamp Set, stamped in Early Espresso ink. To complete the card, I fussy cut a fish from Waterside Retreat DSP, and glued it in place.

How I Organize Sentiment Labels

To see photos correctly, please click “read on blog.”

Every other month, I organize my sentiment labels, and thought you’d like to see how I do it. When we have a group of dies going into Last Chance, or retiring, I remove them from my current products. Then, I go through my new dies, cut the smaller dies that I would use for labels, and write the name of the set on the label. This is helpful when I’m designing, because I can find the size that fits with the card I’m making. And, I can see the options for the sentiment I need. The labels are stored in a clear, Stampin’ Up! envelope.

If you’ve been thinking about joining Stampin’ Up!, this is the last day to get the five, new, In Color Ink Pads for free. My link to join is below. Don’t miss out!

Waterside Retreat for TGIF Challenge

To see photos correctly, please click “read on blog.”

I’m so excited to share that I’ve been asked to join the TGIF Challenge Design Team! I love designing cards that inspire you to get your products out, and start crafting. It’s fun having the challenge as a parameter for a starting point. This week’s theme challenge is “for a special guy.” Are you thinking Father’s Day? I am! Plus, my husband’s birthday is in June. Clicking on this picture will take you to the TGIFC site where you can enter your project.

The new, Waterside Retreat Suite is perfect for the men in our lives; the subject, the sentiments, and the colors! I began my design by cutting a cabin scene from Waterside Retreat Designer Paper with a Spotlight on Nature Die, and backed it with Cardstock for thickness.

By Su Mohr for tgifc579; Click aromasandart.com to go to my blog for details! Featuring: Waterside Retreat DSP, Relaxing Waterside Bundle, Spotlight On Nature Dies, Words & Wishes Dies; #watersideretreat #relaxingwaterside #spotlightonnature #fathersday #masculinecard #tgifc579 #wordsandwishes #fish #cabins #handmadecards #handcrafted #stampinup

Father’s Day Retreat

Next, I cut a background of horizontal striped, Waterside Retreat Designer Paper, 3 5/8″ X 4 7/8″, and layered it on Old Olive Cardstock, 3 3/4″ X 5″. Then, I used a Spotlight On Nature Die to cut a circle in the striped paper.  After gluing the striped background to a Peaceful Pine card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″, I glued the cabin scene in the hole, making it “inlaid.”

“Happy Father’s Day” is from the Relaxing Waterside Stamp Set. I stamped it in Pecan Pie Ink on Waterside Retreat Designer Paper, used a Words & Wishes Die for cutting, and attached it with Dimensionals. The oar and fish were fussy cut from the Waterside Retreat DSP, and the reeds were cut with a Relaxing Waterside Die from three colors of cardstock: Peaceful Pine, Old Olive, and Pecan Pie.
