It’s always exciting to use new product, and today I’m using the Mercury Glass Designer Acetate for the second time.
I began with a Thick Whisper White card base, topped with Feels Like Frost Designer Paper (the silver foil side) that I bordered with Noble Peacock Foil in Old Olive. The papers are in my Product List for a closer look.
Before gluing the two papers together, I used a Beautiful Boughs Die to cut a bough from the Feels Like Frost DSP. Then, I used the same die to cut a bough from the Noble Peacock Foil, filling in the hole, making it inlaid.
Glass Ornament
I rounded the corners to mimic the TGIF challenge sketch.
It’s wonderful how the Detailed Trio Punch makes it so easy. You can see the other capabilities of the punch by clicking on the picture in my Product List below.
For the circle in the sketch, I took it literally, and used a Layering Circles Die to cut a circle from the Mercury Glass Acetate. My circle needed a top to look like an ornament, and here’s the fun part; I used the Snowman Builder Punch! Doesn’t the snowman’s hat make a great ornament topper?
“Happy Holidays” is from the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set, stamped in Memento Black Ink, and fitting perfectly within the Classic Label Punch.
There’s plenty of shine on this card, but I had to add a few green-toned Iridescent Sequins.

Creating scenes, observed through a window, is not a new idea, but one that I love. I was missing the retired, Hearth & Home Die Set, until I realized the Stained Glass Die Set was right under my nose!
Christmas Window
Beginning with a Thick Whisper White card base, I trimmed a layer of regular Whisper White Cardstock to 4″ X 5 1/4″. Then, I embossed the layer with the Brick & Mortar Embossing Folder.
Next, I positioned the Stained Glass Die where I wanted the window, which was easy, because the straight lines of the bricks provided a guide. After my two holes were cut for the windows, I used the same Stained Glass Die to cut the frames from Sahara Sand Cardstock.
Now, back to the Thick Whisper White card front, where I stamped the tree. Using the Stamparatus, I positioned the tree stamp from the Winter Woods Stamp Set. I stamped it twice; first with Garden Green Ink, and second with Shaded Spruce Ink.
Next, I glued the brick “house” to the card front, followed by the window frames.
Now, the window needed a ledge, which I cut from Thick Whisper White Cardstock, using the smallest Rectangles Stitched Die.
The sentiment, “Blessed Christmas Wishes,” is from the Itty Bitty Christmas Stamp Set, stamped in Crumb Cake Ink on the ledge. I attached it with four Mini Dimensionals.
My inspiration for today’s card was CAS(E) this sketch.
Last, but not least, is the pop of red, created by a “cardinal” from the Botanical Tags Die. Set. I simply used the die to cut the birdcage from Real Red Cardstock, then cropped the bird, so he could sit on the window ledge.
This is a Christmas card I will make in quantity to send to family and friends. It speaks to me, and yet, it is simple enough to duplicate. Mass production has begun!

When I learned that the Paper Players challenge was a “metallics/foil” theme, I grabbed my new Pine Tree Punch and a Gold Foil Sheet, and voila!
Gold Foil Christmas
There are lines of gold running through some of the Wrapped In Plaid 6X6 Designer Paper, so it was a perfect choice to combine with my Gold Foil pine tree.
I used a Stitched Rectangle Die for cutting, and glued it to Whisper White Cardstock that was embossed with the Eyelet Lace embossing folder. Even though this is a “clean & simple” challenge, I embossed. I can’t help myself! The card base is Thick Whisper White.
There’s more Gold Foil for the sentiment, cutting “Merry,” with a die from the Merry Christmas die set. To complete the sentiment, I stamped “Christmas,” from the Merry Christmas To All stamp set in Cherry Cobbler Ink on Whisper White Cardstock. It fit nicely within the smallest Stitched Rectangle die-cut.

Today’s card features one of my favorite sets in the Annual Catalog, Puzzle Pieces. I used to “work” many jigsaw puzzles with my grandmother, Mimi, and it brings back such fond memories.
Puzzle Pieces
Three Puzzle Pieces are perfect for this week’s Freshly made Sketches challenge.
The Love You To Pieces Stamp Set has two stamps that say just that, and I stamped them in Crumb Cake Ink on Thick Whisper White Cardstock. After cutting with their Puzzle Pieces Die, I layered them, which makes them feel like “real” puzzle pieces. Plain, Crumb Cake Cardstock was used for the third piece.
TIP: I used the Stamparatus, and stamped the puzzle pieces twice, to get a perfectly stamped image. If you aren’t familiar with the Stamparatus, click on its picture in my Product List for details.
For the strip in the sketch, I chose a piece of Pressed Petals Designer Paper, and trimmed the top and bottom with the scalloped die from the Be Mine Stitched Die Set.
I brought out the blue by using a Blueberry Bushel card base, and layered it with Whisper White Cardstock. I was excited to use the new (to me) Scripty 3D Embossing Folder, which makes this seem like a love letter. Before gluing the white layer to the card base, I tied some Mossy Meadow Linen Thread around it, knotting and shredding the ends.
My husband immediately identified this as a card I would give to him, so I’m calling it a masculine card. My theory holds true: Blue, brown and green can be for a guy, especially if it’s clean & simple.

The Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper is perfect for traditional red and green Christmas cards.
The background of this beautiful DSP is Very Vanilla, so that’s what I chose for the card base. I topped it with the Garden Green print of leaves, berries and pinecones. Then, I added a 3/4″ strip of Garden Green, ticking DSP, also in the Toile Tidings pack. I trimmed this with a narrow band of Real Red Cardstock, cut with a Be Mine Stitched Die.
Christmas Wreath
Next, I needed a circle, because I was using Global Design Project’s sketch for inspiration.
A wreath would be perfect for my red and green Christmas card! Using a Beautiful Boughs Die, I cut five boughs from Garden Green Cardstock. Then, using two Layering Circles Dies, I cut a frame from Soft Suede Cardstock.
I used another Beautiful Boughs Die to cut a pinecone from Soft Suede Cardstock, and glued it to the frame, along with the five boughs.
I placed Mini Dimensionals on the back of the frame, but before attaching it to the card front, I needed to add the sentiment.
“Believe” is from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set, which I stamped in Real Red Ink, and cut with a Merry Christmas label die.
I took a picture of the back, thinking you might be confused by my explanation.
And, here’s a final close-up. Isn’t that pinecone cute!

Welcome to the Pals’ Blog Hop! Today’s Pal’s Blog Hop is occurring on a significant day in our history, 9/11. Thinking of the brave men and women who selflessly gave their lives for others, I feel grateful.
Grateful
The first thing I did was use the Hand-Lettered Prose dies to cut the word “grateful” from wood textured, Pressed Petals Designer Series Paper. Then, I layered each letter for thickness, and placed them on a 5 1/4″ X 4″ piece of Whisper White Cardstock to make sure it fit. Whew! Not a spec to spare. I embossed this layer with the Pinewood Planks embossing folder to stick with the rustic feel.
Next, I took a cue from this month’s banner, and made a wreath. I began by using two Layering Circles Dies to make a round frame for the wreath. By using Thick Whisper White Cardstock, it blended with the background. I used Champagne, Gold, and Silver Foil for the foliage, and Copper Foil for the pinecones. I cut two boughs of each color, and two pinecones, with dies from the Beautiful Boughs die set.
After alternating, and carefully gluing the boughs to the frame, I lifted the wreath on Dimensionals, along with the letters, g-r-a-t-e-f-u-l.
The final touch was a Sparkle Glimmer spring, cut with a Frosted Bouquet die.
