It’s Thanksgiving today, so I wanted to share a card showing “thanks.” It came together quickly, because I let the designer paper do the work.

Happy Forest Thanks
I began by cutting Happy Forest Friends Designer Paper, 3 3/4″ X 5″, and backed it with Mossy Meadow Cardstock, 1/8″ larger, giving it a 1/16″ border. This was glued to a Sahara Sand card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.
Next, I used Amazing Thanks Dies to cut the word “thanks” from Sahara Sand Cardstock, and Mossy Meadow Cardstock. After cutting, I glued the detailed “thanks” to the bubble “thanks,” and placed it on Dimensionals.

“Thanks” was attached to the tree with a “hanger” from the Welcome Home Die Set. It was cut from Early Espresso Cardstock, and glued to the tree, and “h” and “k”.
Thinking ahead, we all know what happens the day after Thanksgiving…..Black Friday Sales!!! Come back tomorrow to see my Black Friday, weekend, special!

To begin today’s clean and simple card, I used the largest Stitched With Whimsy Die to give a border to the card front of a Thick Basic White card base. This die set is unusual, because it makes an impression in the cardstock, rather than cutting it out entirely. You can see the complete set in my Product List below.

Christmas Pinecones
Next, I used a large, Christmas Pinecone Die to cut Mossy Meadow Cardstock, and snipped a small section from one corner. The section contained a space for three pinecones, which I used dies to cut Soft Suede Cardstock, and Bronze Foil. I glued the foil, pinecone pieces on the solid, Soft Suede, pieces, and glued the pinecones in place.

The Cherry Cobbler bow was cut with a Christmas Wreaths Die. Isn’t it fabulous? “JOY” is from the Leaves Of Holly Stamp Set, stamped in Cherry Cobbler Ink, and cut with a Ranunculus Die.

I was inspired by The Paper Players.

This week’s Global Design Project is a sketch challenge, and the Layering Circles Dies were perfect for creating a design. I used the second largest, scalloped, circle to cut Evening Evergreen Cardstock, and the second largest, plain, circle to cut a pattern of Painted Christmas Designer Paper.
Next, I stamped two candy canes, from the Sweet Candy Canes Stamp Set, in Real Red Ink, and Mint Macaron Ink on Basic White Cardstock. After stamping, I used Candy Cane Dies for cutting.

Candy Cane Wishes
With the sketch in mind, I used a Sending Die to cut the word “sending” from Real Red Cardstock, and backed it with Basic White Cardstock, cut with the Sending “bubble” Die.

The background is Basic White Cardstock, cut with a large Candy Canes Die, glued to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

To continue the sentiment, I stamped “candy cane wishes & mistletoe kisses,” in Evening Evergreen Ink on Basic White Cardstock, and used the second smallest, plain, Layering Circles Die for cutting. This was layered on Evening Evergreen Cardstock, cut with the second smallest, scalloped, Layering Circles Die.
Prior to attaching the sentiment with Dimensionals, I glued a pine bough to the back of the circle, cut from Garden Green Cardstock with a Decorated Pine Die.
The last step was adding five, For Everything Fancy Sequins, which look like sugar. How sweet!

Here is the Global Design Project sketch. See how the other designers used the sketch, then create your own design, and hang it in our gallery.

The Gnomes Dies make the cutest gnomes, don’t you think? I spied a gnome yesterday morning, darting around in a Christmas tree lot, and he was a little upset that I found him. He asked if I could help him be camouflaged, so this is what we did:
His beard and nose were already cut from Basic White Cardstock, and his nose was colored with an Ivory Stampin’ Blend. I added his hat, cut from Regals 6″ X 6″ Designer Paper in Shaded Spruce plaid, and his pants and shoes, cut from Shaded Spruce Cardstock. He was pleased with his outfit, and confident he could hide among the trees.

Whimsical Gnome
The trees were embossed on Basic White Cardstock with the Whimsical Woodland Embossing Folder, and colored with a Blending Brush and Shaded Spruce Ink. To complete the tree lot, I glued the trees to a Thick Basic White card base, 8 1/2″ X 5 1/2″, folded at 4 1/4″.

Next, the gnome told me how he loves this time of year, and wanted to make a sign for the tree lot. He said the Kindest Gnomes Stamp Set had the perfect words for his sign, “Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year.” Following his directions, I stamped the words on Thick Basic White Cardstock in Shaded Spruce Ink, and used a Natural Prints Die for cutting.
I even decorated the bottom of the sign with three, Fine Sparkle Gems, per request. As soon as the gnome approved the sign, he said thank you, and scurried away. I don’t know if we’ll see him again before Christmas. But, everyone who comes to this tree lot will feel welcomed by his sign.

I was inspired by TGIF.

I have an online card business, but today I held an “in person” card class. It came about, because I was contacted by a very nice lady looking for a local card class, and today was the day. I prepared their kits ahead of time: 6 cards, 2 each of 3 designs.
It was fun getting to know Mary, Laurie, and Tiffany, and sharing what we love to do, together.

These are three designs, and clicking on the pictures takes you to the original blog post:
